Posted Breed: Greyhound. Mohican Sunset RE 33E LE 60699 Hi I'm Sunny! I love Life! Everything is super interesting to me! I have a tendency to follow people around so am what you call a Velcro hound; I just don't want to miss out on anything! I am super sweet and love attention. I get along with everyone! I warm up to cats pretty quickly, but small dogs take a while longer. I would rather not be left out of anything. I want in on all of the action! More About Greyhound Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Greyhound. Super C Tara RE 62I, LE 58730 Hi I'm Tara! Everyone just LOVES to pet me as I have this amazing soft, fluffy, blue brindle coat! I know I'm a cutie and just adore the attention! I'm a big cuddle bug and enjoy being next to you on the couch! I love to play with toys and hoard all of them into my kennel or carry them in my mouth around the house! I get along with the other resident greyhounds but I do have strong alpha tendencies and like to be the Queen of the household! I would do best in a home without other animals. I enjoy walks and walk calmly on lead. I'm not a fan of the kennel, but do go in there when my foster family is at work. I'm still working on walking better on lead, I just get so excited on our walks that I tend to pull. I'm very smart and food motivated, so I catch on quick with training. Posted Breed: Greyhound. Rico’s Sergio RE 74C, LE 64372 DOB 7-11-2014 Hi I'm Sergio! I LOVE being with my foster family, especially in the kitchen! I enjoy playing with squeaky toys, tennis balls, and an occasional pillow, blanket or sock. I also love to receive butt and ear scratches - they're the best! I have a calm, friendly, and have a low-key personality, and am not skittish. Occasionally I'll lean on you, but am very gentle about it. I am blind in the right eye, but that doesn't stop me from seeing things! I do have a high prey drive, so I'd do best in a home without cats or small dogs. I get along great with the resident greyhounds but do not like to be disturbed when I'm eating or when I'm on my favorite pillow. Even though I'm blind in my right eye and my back left leg is a little weak, it doesn't slow me down! My foster family say I'm a great pup! I can't wait to have a family to call my own!
