    Aubrey

    rescue
    Breed: Italian Greyhound
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 275. Aubrey Posed so elegantly in her butterscotch and cream coat, Aubrey is as sweet and as gentle as she is beautiful. Not to mention playful, particularly when she finds a toy she likes or when frisking or cuddling with her foster family’s other dogs, especially her best friend, Ivy Rose, who’s also available for adoption. Having entered our care from a hoarding situation in August 2016, and thought to have been born around 2008, Aubrey has grown increasingly comfortable and confident over time, and now enjoys attending Meet and Greets where she meets new people and dogs. Due to her inauspicious beginnings, she appreciates the many benefits of her newfound freedom, including soaking up the sunshine and prancing round the fenced yard. She’s also flourishing in the calmness and stability of her current environment. She’s still startled by loud noises, however, from thunder to tracks roaring past, and reacts by attempting to flee. But she is learning to accept being held securely and comforted by her fosters whenever she gets frightened. Still skittish about being picked up, and definitely not a "lap dog", her response is to run, and should she escape out the door or bolt from the yard, she would be impossible to catch. And yet, this most deserving of dogs has the potential to flourish and shine! All she needs now are patient and attentive adopters in a quiet home with a securely fenced yard, where, closely supervised, she can run, together with another gentle dog or two for companionship.

    Breed: Italian Greyhound
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300. Blossom Shapely head tilted, dark eyes warm and expression soft, former dog mama Blossom is living up to her name by blossoming beautifully in her foster home. Blessed with a sweet nature and friendly disposition, she LOVES to socialize with the other dogs, whether it’s playing or running around the backyard, and thoroughly enjoys both her toys and her chew bones. Also high on her list of loves is relaxing, being scratched and being held! As one of the Texas 60 (together with Katy who is also available for adoption) who entered our care, she’s regained her weight and her health, and her coat simply shines. Going to the door is her signal to potty, and although she does, on occasion, have seizures, she recovers from them quickly and well, with no lasting effects. Now on the hunt for affectionate adopters, she’s sure to blossom even more in the circle of their love.

Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hi!!! My name is Roo. I am 6 years old. My foster mom says I'm a snuggle bug. I like to snuggle next to her on the sofa or sit in her lap. In addition, I love kisses! I like giving and receiving them. I like to be snuggled like a baby sometimes. I have excellent potty habits and ring the bell on the door when I want to go outside. I even keep ringing the bell until you let me out. I haven't had one accident in the house. When my foster parents have to be away from the house, I stay in the living room and sleep. My foster dad works from home, so I am never left alone more than 3 hours when my foster parents need to go out. I walk well on a leash, I get a bit anxious in the car, but settle down after a few minutes. At night, I sleep in a bed right next to my foster parents. I do have a condition called Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), which means that I am losing my vision. I will be completely blind one day. I don't have a problem during the day seeing, but I do have problems at night. While this may seem like a negative, my foster Mom says I am perfect as I am. I have adjusted well and won't need anything special, except a supplement that slows down the progression of the disease.

Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Since I've been in foster care I've learned so much. My foster Mom tells me all the time that I'm the smartest boy she's ever met. I am a very good listener and I love to learn new commands. Anything my foster Mom asks of me, I'm sure to listen; especially if she gives me a treat. I LOVE treats and being told that I'm a "good boy". When my foster brother Dezi and I are out playing I love to do "zoomies". I run SUPER fast and he can never, ever catch me. He enjoys chasing me, but he'll never catch me. I'm 100% house and crate trained. I learned to ring the bell on the door when I want to go outside. I'm such a funny goof ball, that even if the door is open, I will ring the bell and sit by the door until my foster Mom tells me I'm a good boy....hehehe I get along with all my foster siblings, even Chip "the grumpy old man". He's 14 years old rat terrier and he is always grumpy. I like to give the pups kisses all over their faces and even he can not resist my charm. I struggle a little when I meet strangers. As long as they understand what I need and are patient I will come around and love them as much as I love my foster Mom. It just takes me some time to make sure everyone is worthy of my love. I am extremely lovable, and I enjoy being held, especially at night when things are quiet. Since I need people who understand and can maintain an "predictable" environment, a household with children is not the place for me. As much as I love to love them it's not a good situation for me. All in all, I'm a super sweet guy that needs a family who can understand my needs. In return I will fill your heart and home with love and joy. Rigby is not available for out of state adoptions nor will Rigby make a good apartment dog. Rigby will need a stable, calm environment with little/no social interactions. He must have a consistent, predictable and routine environment. He does not do well with spontaneous interactions and is fearful of people and situations that are not familiar. If he is faced with any situations that are fearful to him; he will respond with barking and/or lunging and nipping. It depends on the situation. If the threat is removed quickly he will have the ability to recover more quickly. If the threat continues, his threshold rises and he becomes more unpredictable and aggressive. Introducing Rigby to people he does not know is a slow process which requires patience, understanding and time. It may take him several meetings before he is comfortable with that person/situation. There are situations and people, that no matter how many times he encounters them, will always cause him to react in an undesirable manner. He seems to adjust and feel more comfortable with women. Not to say he is not capable of adjusting to men, it just seems to take longer for him to feel comfortable and trust them, if at all. There are triggers that make him anxious and unpredictable; for this reason he is not able to be around children. Rigby's training consists of clicker training and positive reinforcement. Always being rewarded for the desired behavior. He's very food motivated so both methods are very effective. He is eager to listen and follow direction which makes the training that much more successful. Consistency is key. In addition to training and consistent positive reinforcement of desired behaviors; Rigby is on medication. He takes 15mg of fluoxetine (Prozac) daily.

    Max

    Breed: Italian Greyhound
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Max is a biggy iggy with lots of love to share! This sweet boy is blind, likely due to progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), a genetic condition. He has mapped out his foster home’s house and yard with great skill, learned to navigate stairs, and gets on and off of furniture with no problems. Max will bump into things if his environment is not consistent and needs a person to be his eyes when walking him on leash outside of the home. Max’s favorite place to be is curled up in someone’s lap or snug right beside him. He won’t give kisses, but he will lay his head down on your chest in the sweetest way or put his head under your hand to let you know he wants more petting. He does have some separation anxiety and lets his feelings known about being left at home when his foster family is at work through barking, so could not be in an apartment or a home with shared walls, such as a condo or townhome. He stays in his crate when his foster family is at work and sleeps there quietly at night but would be thrilled to sleep in bed with his family. Max really enjoys playing with toys, especially soft squeaky toys. He’s even able to sniff out his favorite toy! He gets along great with the IGs in his foster home, but he needs a home without a young or overly playful dogs, as he is reactive to dogs that try to engage him in physical play since he cannot read their body language. Max has excellent potty habits when taken out regularly but will need a fenced yard to maintain those habits, as he likes to take his time. He enjoys wandering around the back yard and barking with neighboring dogs on occasion. He also enjoys a walk around the neighborhood. Max is definitely a Velcro dog and would love a family that can spend as much time playing with and loving on him as possible. He’s up to date on vaccinations, neutered, had a dental, and is on heartworm preventative.

Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Sarah is Elvis' daughter. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They are beautiful biggy iggies being fostered near Des Moines IA. Elvis and Sara came into rescue in 2017. Sara (age 6) is the daughter of Elvis (age 7) and they have always been together so they must be adopted as pair. Both dogs get along great with other dogs. Although Elvis is not real playful, he will play with toys a little bit. They both are very content with sleeping in the bed with you or sitting and snuggling on the couch. They love sunning outside and playing in the yard. Sara is a little bit of a private eater so she may need to be fed separately. They both tend to get a bit skittish and will hide if they hear raised voices.

Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hi! My name is Bo and this is my sister, Ru (short for Ruthie). We are six years old and have something called Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). That means that we are going blind, although you wouldn't know it most of the time. I have a harder time seeing than my sister. Our foster Mom and Dad says that we are very smart. We have excellent listening skills. If you call, we come to you. We are working on commands such as sit and stay. We don't understand them yet, but we just started learning them. We LOVE to cuddle together and with our foster parents. We would love to have a home where we can sleep with you. We have very good potty habits. We haven't had one accident in the house. Ru can ring a bell to go outside and I will stand at the door to let you know I need to go out.

Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 325.00. Hi, my name is Tucker. I have a really cute way that I tuck my legs under me when I sit so my foster mom says the name fits me perfectly. I have put on a little weight since I have been in my foster home and my mom says that I am a very handsome man. I am learning to be more confident and a less fearful guy but I still need some time. I like to be where you are and watch what you do but from a little distance. My foster mom holds me every night in her lap and tells me, that I am kind, and smart and beautiful. I am learning to not be so stiff and relax when she talks to me like that. My previous people weren’t so nice to me so this is all new to me but I am a fast learner. I run very fast and it makes me so happy I smile. I love running in the yard and my foster sisters and brothers run a lot so I have fun darting in and out showing off how fast I am. I would love to live with a family that has a confident and secure dog who can show me the ropes and how to I am supposed to respond to all these new things I am learning. I prefer quiet voices over louder and more stern sounding voices, they are still scary to me and I will run and hide when I hear them. I need someone who will be patient and teach me that people are good and we do fun things together. If you need a young handsome man like me in your life and have the patience to help me learn about the good life, then I’m your man.
