    Breed: Mastador
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Mastiff / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Hello! My name is Carson! Despite being a senior, I still love to play like a young dog. My favorite thing to do is play fetch with a tennis ball or a squeaky toy. When I'm done playing, I just want to cuddle and try to lay on your lap. If I can't do that, I'll give you puppy eyes until I get ear scratches. I hope you don't mind a 92-pound lap dog! I'm a very gentle guy and I get along well with people, including older children. I am also house trained and know a few tricks like come, sit, and shake. If you have other dogs, I would like to meet them! Come meet me at Zona Rosa! My adoption fee includes my neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test, microchip, and of course me! I can't wait to see you!

    Breed: Mastador
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mastiff / Mixed (short coat). Meet darling Emma, She is a pretty Lab mix with a gentle soul. Emma was brought to us from being left at a shelter in CA as a pregnant, stray mom. She gave birth at the shelter and then the puppies got homes. Emma was a volunteer favorite! Now it's time for Emma to find a loving family to call her very own! She really just wants somebody who will love her, pamper her, and she will give them everything she has in return. Emma's energy level is moderate, so you won't have to be compelled to take her for long walks or runs. She is content playing in the back yard and just being someone's sidekick. She gets excited when you first get home and will be very wiggly and even smiles at you.. She is a HUGE cuddler, extremely affectionate, and is mellow and quiet in the house. She will sleep by your feet while you work on your computer during the day and cuddle up on the sofa with you for Movie night. Emma gets along really well with other dogs, but probably would be best in a cat free home. She is working on her leash skills. She does not pull on the leash, but she us just learning to walk on the leash. She does well in her crate for reasonable amount of time each day. Emma has a very beautiful black low maintenence coat with touches of brindle. She weighs about 70 lbs and is underweight at the moment so we are working on getting her weight up and filled out. We estimate her age at 3-4 years old. Emma is very well behaved and patient around children. She is a more bashful and submissive type when meeting new people but warms up right away once she is introduced. She is always very polite when she meets others. Emma is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested. Her adoption fee is $300 Please inquire about Emma and submit your application here: https://goo.gl/forms/LpkYZPTWmBYL46BS2 You will truly fall in love with this sweetest and most affectionate companion, Emma! We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt // // Meet Memphis! Memphis is a 2 year old Mastiff mix that immediately impresses. From his smiling, happy face, to his easy going demeanor, he is a rare gem that easily adjusts to new situations. Despite the mix of Mastiff and Lab, he is on the smaller side at about 45-50 pounds and exhibits many of the classic Mastiff traits - calm, easy going, and good with cats, dogs, and kids. In fact, he makes quick friends with the other animals in the house and shows no sign of aggression, anxiousness or agitation. He can show some nervousness around loud noises and busy streets however, and will require some time to get comfortable in these environments. He is great in a kennel but can get anxious if left alone. His foster parents are working hard on his leash skills but he will likely require more work as he can get excited and pull when he is walking. He enjoys cuddling on the couch, but since he is a quick learner, can be easily taught to prefer a cuddly bed, blankets, or pillows of his very own. He would make a wonderful companion to any household lucky enough to adopt him. Memphis is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $250 which helps Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. ♥ *Memphis will require a home visit prior to completing adoption. All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog. We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience. To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information. All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog. Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home. Thank you for visiting our dogs located at www.SecondChanceDogRescue.org

CAN'T KEEP A GOOD DOG DOWN: Pete's Story This handsome fella here is Pete (affectionately known to his foster family as "Riggs"). Riggs is a special medical Happy Tails case. He was originally adopted as a puppy from the rescue in April of 2015. When he was about a year old, Riggs started exhibiting stiffness and lameness in his back legs. His owners brought him to the vet and it was discovered that he had "luxating patella". This basically means his knee caps would slide out of place casing extreme pain whenever the knees bent. The condition most often stems from a congenital defect. More extreme cases require surgical intervention. Riggs fell into this category and his owners made the difficult decision to surrender him back to Happy Tails as they were not financially able to provide the medical care needed to help him. Our family started fostering Riggs late October 2016. When he came to us he walked very stiffly, always trying to keep his back legs as straight as possible. You could tell he was hurting. Once Riggs settled into our home, an orthopedic specialist was found. Surgery was performed on the left hind leg December 1, 2016. Recovery time was expected to be about eight long weeks where he had to have very restricted movement. While healing, Riggs turned 2 years old on February 1, 2017! He thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with his furry foster brother and sisters! Frosty Paws Ice cream and frozen peanut butter Kongs were both on the menu!! :) Soon after, Riggs was finally strong enough where he could put full weight on the left leg. On February 21st, we proceeded with the second surgery for the right hind leg. When the surgeon opened him up and got in there they discovered that this leg also had a torn ACL. This was repaired along with the patella. Near the end of his second, eight-week recovery period, Riggs was still very sensitive and hesitant to put weight on his right leg. When the surgeon reviewed the new X-rays, a fair amount of arthritis was noted and it was determined that the implant used for repair was causing significant pain and inflammation. Riggs would need to have yet another surgery:( Riggs is expected to undergo the implant removal procedure in mid-late May 2017. We will then find out whether a different type of implant is required to be placed or if the scar tissue alone will adequately hold everything together. So, as they say, the saga continues! Through all the pain and recovery so far, Riggs has been an absolute trooper- always in the best of spirits! He is determined to play and be just like the other dogs. He can tear around pretty darn quick right now, even on 3 legs! He is very strong and gets super excited when the leash comes out as he knows we are going for a little jaunt around the block. Though he will never be a marathon runner, he is sure to be an awesome all-around companion! Riggs is very well house trained. He does fine in a crate but will require a large one as he needs room to stretch out his legs. He often times naps on his back in his crate with his legs straight up in the air! He is wonderful with other dogs, both big and small, and knows how to play appropriately based on size. He grew up around young children and I don't foresee any problems in that regard. He does great in the car- just lays down and chills while enjoying the ride. He has an incredibly easygoing, affable personality and will get vocal when he wants or needs something. Riggs loves to just be BY you. He enjoys short walks, hanging out with you on the couch, TREATS, laying by the bathroom door when you take showers, meeting new people, going to watch kid's sporting events, and sleeping at the end of the bed at night to keep your feet warm. Whoever adds this boy to their family is going to be extremely lucky. We love Riggs very much and it has been an absolute joy to have him with us and watch his progress :) Riggs is open for meet and greets! If this sweet, special boy has captured your heart and you are willing and able to provide the love and care he deserves, please fill out a pre-adoption application. Riggs/Pete's webpage can be found here: http://www.tailsrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=8466308 Prior to adoption Pete will be neutered, vaccinated, health checked, and microchipped Adoption Fee $400 If you would like to meet me please fill out a pre-adoption application at www.tailsrescue.org Happy Tails Adoption Center is open on Sundays from 12-5. Breed: Mastador
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Baby
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Mastiff / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 175.00. BALOO is a 3 month old male light brindle Labrador Retriever mix with gray/hazel eyes. His mom is a chocolate lab and he dad appears to have has some mastiff mix. BALOO is a big goofball. He likes to eat, roll around and being held. He is currently in the teething stage so he needs lots of good chew toys. His favorite toys are a butterfly shaped teething ring and his sister, Fiona Rosemary. He is somewhat vocal - - he will let you know if you missed his feeding time! BALOO is working on his potty training, he started out on potty pads and is now working on going outside. He has the oddest habit of standing on his back two legs and leaning with his front two paws against something to urinate or defecate. He is used to sleeping in a kennel. BALOO mom, Muneca, was turned into the local shelter with her blind daughter, Tina. Both dogs were extremely underweight and had not received proper veterinary care. Muneca wasn't showing any signs of being pregnant when she was rescued from the shelter. Fast forward three weeks - - Muneca had one pup naturally, then had to be rushed to the Vet for an emergency C-section. She had a total of nine pups, but was not producing milk. The pups were rushed to bottle feeders and other nursing mommas, but only BALOO, FIONA ROSEMARY and JILL survived. If you have any questions, please contact us at hhfresue@gmail.com. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at www.hhfrescue.org. Thank you for considering a rescued dog! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is an additional $10.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. If adopting a puppy, the rabies and spay/neuter will be done at the same time by our vet once they are 4 months old and billed to us. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.

    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mastiff / Mixed (short coat). To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.caninelifeline.org to submit an online application. HARLEY HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING. If you love big dogs, you’re going to want to meet Harley, our lovable 2-3 year-old Lab/Mastiff mix male. Harley came to us from a county dog shelter after his owner was no longer able to care for him. He is missing a front leg which, according to the shelter, was due to an accident with farm machinery. We don’t know when the amputation was done but it must have been a number of months ago as he gets along very well on 3 legs. Harley does best with dogs smaller than he is and seems to be a little nervous around other large dogs. Prior to coming to Canine Lifeline, Harley was in a foster home briefly where he was often found cuddling on the couch with fellow foster dogs in the 10-20 pound range. Harley has excellent crate manners and with a little work in his new home should be able to master the housetraining routine. He’s a very affectionate dog who would love having a family who is home much of the time. Harley weighs about 78 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Harley. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Harley and to submit an online application. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/2015/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.
