We answer email inquiries almost immediately-usually always within a few hours and phone calls are returned with 24-36 hours. GPMR does not have a shelter. All of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes. We must have a completed adoption application on file before meeting any of our mastiffs. GPMR adopts to the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana and parts of Colorado. !!!Any mastiffs being adopted out of the state of Oklahoma require a health certificate to be paid for by the adopter!!! Welcome back Kimmy! Kimmy is estimated to be almost 7 years old. She came into GPMR in 2013 emaciated and heartworm positive. We got her spayed, treated her heartworms and got her to a healthy weight by the time she was adopted. Kimmy was recently returned to GPMR due to medical issues she was having. She was diagnosed with Glaucoma in her left eye last year. Unfortunately the disease progressed so much that the eye had to be removed. Her right eye is normal but she does need daily drops to keep it healthy. But that doesn't slow Kimmy down! She is very sweet and wants a lot of love and attention. Kimmy knows how to walk on a leash and is crate trained. She would do OK with a submissive male dog around the same size but she really prefers to have all of the attention to herself. She is not recommended for homes with small dogs or cats. Her weight is currently a little too healthy so she's now on a diet. :) Kimmy is part of our "Fall in Love" adoption special and her fee is waived! Kimmy is being fostered in Mesquite, Texas Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!

More About Mastiff Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

He is a stunning brindle boy and is about 3 years old. Monroe was likely was an outside only dog before coming to us and is afraid to walk on tile floors. We're working with him on that and he's very treat motivated which should aid in his training. He did test positive for heartworms and will begin treatment soon. We can't understand why someone would not want her - Millie's foster mom said she is perfect! Millie thankfully tested negative for heartworms. She is thin at 110 pounds and we're working on getting some weight on her. She does well with other dogs but she can't be placed with cats. She's just an amazing girl overall and an easy keeper! Meet Tyson! He was rescued by a good samaritan when their neighbor was not caring for him proerly. They nursed Tyson back to health but wanted him to go to a family where he could be provided with the veterinary care that he needed. Tyson's vet visit was full of information. We learned that he is at least 10 years old. He came in with terrible skin and ear infections which we are currently treating. He had fleas and intestinal parasites, both which have been treated. He unfortunately tested positive for heartworm but the vet doesn't recommend treatment due to his age. The vet also suspects Tyson has testicular cancer as he was never neutered which would have prevented this condition. Due to Tyson's advanced age and medical issues, he is considered a "Hospice Foster" meaning his foster home will provide a loving home and keep him happy for as much time as he left. So far he seems unaware he has these health problems and is in good spirits. Please consider making a donation for his care as he will have several follow up vet visits! Tyson has an amazing personality and temperament wise is a great represenation of the Mastiff breed. He loves meeting new people, being close to his foster parents and of course begging for food at the table. He's getting a lot of TLC in foster care. Tyson is being fostered near Little Rock, AR. Meet Drake! Drake was wandering in an neighborhood for over a year and no one was able to catch him. Finally, thanks to the local animal shelter and some helpers, they were safely able to catch Drake and he seemed to relieved to not be running any more. Within hours of his arrival at the shelter, he was sitting and shaking paws with the staff. After serving his stray hold at the shelter, no one came to claim him, so he came to GPMR for adoption. Drake is estimated at 3 to 4 years old. He tested positive for a tick-related disease called Ehrlichia and also positive for heartworms. We've treated the tick disease and he'll receive heartworm treatment this month. This boy was underweight whenhe came in, and we're fattening him up! He is a typical Velcro Mastiff, follows his foster parents everywhere and lives for food. He seems to be good with cats and other dogs as well but he will chase cats who run from him. Drkae is not recommended for a home with young children but he woiuld be OK with a home with older kids 12 and up. Drake is being fostered in Yukon, OK. Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!

Meet Titan! This guy’s personality is as big as he is (and that’s BIG). Titan was rescued from a shelter. He is food and treat motivated so it should be pretty easy to teach this spunky 6 year old a few new tricks. He knows the basics and is cooperative as long as there’s something in it for him. Titan plays well with other dogs who are larger, with proper introductions. He has the typical mastiff temperament, including a little stubborn streak when it’s time to be crated, he responds well to bribery for now. Titan is house trained and hasn't exhibited any destructive behavior at all. His bark to let strangers know he is present is just as intimidating as his massive size, but the truth is, he is a teddy bear to his family. He is on the active side for his age and will need daily walks or playtime in the yard. Titan has completed a basic obedience class and did great! He would do best in a home with older kids, no cats or small dogs and with an owner who has experience with a Mastiff breed. Meet Thunder! He came to GPMR due to his family's divorce. Unfortunately he had not been well cared for so we're glad he got him. At 150 pounds, he is very underweight. He has an infected sore on his leg so we have him on antibiotics to treat that. He thankfully tested negative for heartworms and intestinal parasites and his bloodwork was all normal. He does have some arthritis which is not uncommon for a 7.5 year old Mastiff, so we have him on medications for that, and he will need to be on those for life. Thunder is a super sweet boy and is good with kids, but we'd recommend a home with kids over the age of 5 due to his athritis, he doesn't need young kids climbing on him. He is doing well with the Mastiff in his foster home but we have not evaluated him with cats. We'll post more about this handsome boy as we get to know him! Meet Goliath! Although his age in years is 9, his "Spirit Age" is so much younger. Goliath, sadly, was surrendered by his owners when they moved and were unable to take him. He is very shy with strangers at first, but warms up quickly, especially when offered belly rubs! Goliath prefers to be around an older more mature crowd, so a family without young children is necessary. He has spent most of his life outside, and is now working on adjusting to being an inside dog. He has shown his foster family that his most treasured discovery is his inside soft doggie bed! Such a simple discovery with life changing results. Goliath came to GPMR with ear and eye infections, both of which have been treated. He did test positive for heartworms, which is has not shown to be severe and can be treated with monthly heart worm prevention. He is also on supplements for arthritis, which help him act his "Spirit Age". Goliath's trademark, and funniest trait, is his super long tongue which tends to hang out on the floor when he is laying down.
