Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher. Est DOB: Weight: 12lbs Fife is an older guy who looks like he may have had a hard life. His elbows are swollen and have fur loss which is caused by sleeping on concrete :-( he is much happier sleeping on his foster mom's bed !! Fife ended up in a high kill animal control as a stray and even though he was wearing a new collar, no one came forward to claim him and his life was in danger. One of our wonderful foster moms got him out of there so that Fife could live the rest of his life in the comfort of a loving home. He might be an older guy but this sweet boy had a lot of years and a lot of love left to give. He is up to date on vaccinations and heart worm negative. Fife is working on house training in his foster home and is doing well, he is a quiet little dog, however, he will alert you when someone rings the doorbell. If you are looking for a loyal, faithful little companion who has passed the silly puppy stage then Fife could be your guy. Please consider making this sweet boy a part of your family and contact us for an application. Fife is camera shy !! Please do not judge him by his pictures !!! $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip, first year's microchip registration, wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.

More About Miniature Pinscher Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Young
      Location: Katy, TX
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Est DOB: 1153 Miss Marley is an adorable pit mix pup who was found wandering the streets and never reclaimed by an owner. She is in a foster home with other dogs who she loves to play with. Miss Marley is an excitable pup with a high energy level, she LOVES to play fetch and would make an awesome running buddy. She will need a family who are active and want a dog to go for long walks and trips to the dog park. Miss Marley is currently learning not to be so rough when she plays with her people, as do many puppies her age, she play bites. For this reason we are looking for a home for her where any children are over the age of 12. She is crate trained and house broken (although please expect an adjustment period in a new home) Please consider making Miss Marley a member of your family and contact us for an adoption application. Thank you $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip and registration, wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.

      Location: Katy, TX
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. Est DOB: 11/05/14 Approx weight: 12lbs Benjamin was rescued from a high kill shelter, he is a friendly little dog who gets along with the other dogs and school aged child in his foster home. His foster mom crates him during the evening and when she is not home and he does well with this. Benjamin is house trained, but please expect an adjustment period when he moves to a new home. Unfortunately whoever previously owned this little guy could not be bothered to give him a heartworm pill every month and as a result Benjamin is heartworm positive. Please do not let this rule him out for you. He is on an approach to treatment that is not as hard on the dog as the one you may have heard of, and we will provide this medication for FREE! Please consider making Benjamin a loving member of your family and giving him the forever home he deserves. Contact us for an adoption application. SIMBA

      rescue
      Breed: Collie-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: Katy, TX
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Collie / Mixed. Est DOB: 09/15/14 Weight: 60lbs Whn Simba was rescued as a puppy he was in a really bad condition and suffering terribly from mange and skin infections. It took a long time to get him well and turn him into the handsome, healthy dog he has become. Due to his immune system being so low Simba was not being able to be socialized when he was a pup and is shy in new situations. We enrolled him in a board and train program to help him with this and he has made great progress but is still wary in new situations and shy with new people. Simba will need to continue to work on this. Once he bonds with you though, he does so really tightly and will be a very loyal companion for the rest of his life. He is crate trained and working on leash training and basic commands. Simba would do well with another dog in the home who is confident and friendly, he is a very reactive dog so needs a calm companion who will not challenge him or cause 'drama' but will put him in his place when he gets over the top (he is still a pup so can be a bit jumpy and barky with others sometimes. Please consider making this wonderful boy a member of your family and contact us for more information / an adoption application. $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip and registration, wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.
