Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher. Est DOB: Weight: 12lbs Fife is an older guy who looks like he may have had a hard life. His elbows are swollen and have fur loss which is caused by sleeping on concrete :-( he is much happier sleeping on his foster mom's bed !! Fife ended up in a high kill animal control as a stray and even though he was wearing a new collar, no one came forward to claim him and his life was in danger. One of our wonderful foster moms got him out of there so that Fife could live the rest of his life in the comfort of a loving home. He might be an older guy but this sweet boy had a lot of years and a lot of love left to give. He is up to date on vaccinations and heart worm negative. Fife is working on house training in his foster home and is doing well, he is a quiet little dog, however, he will alert you when someone rings the doorbell. If you are looking for a loyal, faithful little companion who has passed the silly puppy stage then Fife could be your guy. Please consider making this sweet boy a part of your family and contact us for an application. Fife is camera shy !! Please do not judge him by his pictures !!! $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip, first year's microchip registration, wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.

More About Miniature Pinscher Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      MISHA

      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed (medium coat). Est DOB:03/07/15 Misha is a very happy girl who loves to play. She loves to play with toys - any sort will do! She also loves to go for car rides and is an excellent passenger. She has learned a few basic commands like sit and kennel. One of her favorite things to do is just spend time with her people - once she bonds with you she's a friend for life! Misha is unsure about certain other dogs and can be quite head strong, for this reason we feel she would do best in an adult only home where she is the only pet. She is potty trained and crate trained. $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip (small registration fee applies), wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.

      BLAKEY

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Collie-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Collie / Mixed. Est DOB: 02/01/14 Approx weight: 25lbs Blakey is an absolutely adorable dog who was let down badly by his previous owners. They dropped him off at a kill shelter when he was suffering badly from colitis. Blakey was underweight and in a lot of pain. Thankfully we were able to help him. Blakey does need to be on a special diet and an enzyme powder for the rest of his life, however the enzyme medication is not expensive and the food is no more expensive than a good quality dog food. Unfortunately previous owners not only let him down when he got sick but also could not be bothered to give him heart worm prevention every month, because of this Blakey is heart worm positive. Thankfully this has been caught early, please do not rule him out because of it. He is on the slow approach to treatment which is not as hard on the dog as other treatment options you may have heard of. We will provide medication for this treatment approach for FREE! Although Blakey has some health needs, he is a dog that would really bring so much joy to a family. He is gorgeous with an amazingly soft coat, loyal and calm. Crate trained and house trained (although please expect an adjustment period) and has been good with all of the dogs in his foster home, the teenagers in the foster home (when they come home from university) and a visiting 2 year old and baby. Please consider making this adorable boy a member of your family and contact us to arrange to meet him. $140 adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care.
