Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher. Est DOB: Weight: 12lbs Fife is an older guy who looks like he may have had a hard life. His elbows are swollen and have fur loss which is caused by sleeping on concrete :-( he is much happier sleeping on his foster mom's bed !! Fife ended up in a high kill animal control as a stray and even though he was wearing a new collar, no one came forward to claim him and his life was in danger. One of our wonderful foster moms got him out of there so that Fife could live the rest of his life in the comfort of a loving home. He might be an older guy but this sweet boy had a lot of years and a lot of love left to give. He is up to date on vaccinations and heart worm negative. Fife is working on house training in his foster home and is doing well, he is a quiet little dog, however, he will alert you when someone rings the doorbell. If you are looking for a loyal, faithful little companion who has passed the silly puppy stage then Fife could be your guy. Please consider making this sweet boy a part of your family and contact us for an application. Fife is camera shy !! Please do not judge him by his pictures !!! $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip, first year's microchip registration, wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.

More About Miniature Pinscher Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Bailee-Boo

      rescue
Breed: German Shepherd Dog-Great Pyrenees Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: Katy, TX
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Great Pyrenees / Mixed. Est DOB: 10/07/14 Approx weight: 80lbs Bailee loves to play, loves her walks and loves to snuggle! She is a loyal girl who enjoys attention and learning new commands. This gorgeous girl does get stressed initially in new environments, she needs a home where her new family will recognize that and give her time to adjust. We recommend that she is crated initially. Although Bailee gets along with other dogs, they do not seem to feel the same about her :-( It may be her size and playfulness but, because of this, we feel Bailee would do best as an only dog. We have also found that young children stress her out and therefore we are looking for an adult only home. Bailee's foster mom said this about her: In one short week Bailee gradutated from being crated at night and when I am not home, to being loose in the evening and while I am at work during the day. She spends her day playing with the toys I have left out for her and sleeping on her bed. She is not at all interested in the cat (Bailee has been in two foster homes, both with cats, with no issues) Bailee learned the doggy door within about 15 minutes of being in our home. She has never had an accident in the house. She knows the commands sit, lay down, stay, back up and 'Bailee home' which means go to your bed/crate. Bailee does get stressed initially in new environments. Please consider making Bailee a member of your family and contact us to make arrangements to meet her. $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip and registration, wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.

      Age: Adult
      Location: Katy, TX
Posted Breed: Collie / Mixed. Est DOB: 12/01/14 Approx weight: 50lbs Kiki's foster mom describes her as one of the calmest, most laid back dogs she has ever fostered. She is house trained and has never had an accident in her foster home (although please expect an adjustment period in a new home), and gets along with the resident dogs and cats. Kiki enjoys playing with her canine foster siblings and also a game of fetch and tug-o-war, however, she is not a highly active dog and would be best suited in a quiet, relaxing home with adults and older children. Although Kiki does well with the younger children in her foster home, she tends to retreat to her crate when there is high activity and noise. She has shown herself to be an easy going, intelligent and well mannered dog who enjoys, walks, trips to the dog park and rides in the car but most of all likes to curl up on her bed or at your feet and just hang out with her people. Please consider making this wonderful girl a loving member of your family and contact us to arrange to meet her. Thank you $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip and registration, wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.

      Breed: Collie-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: Katy, TX
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Collie / Mixed. Est DOB: 09/15/14 Weight: 60lbs Whn Simba was rescued as a puppy he was in a really bad condition and suffering terribly from mange and skin infections. It took a long time to get him well and turn him into the handsome, healthy dog he has become. Due to his immune system being so low Simba was not being able to be socialized when he was a pup and is shy in new situations. We enrolled him in a board and train program to help him with this and he has made great progress but is still wary in new situations and shy with new people. Simba will need to continue to work on this. Once he bonds with you though, he does so really tightly and will be a very loyal companion for the rest of his life. He is crate trained and working on leash training and basic commands. Simba would do well with another dog in the home who is confident and friendly, he is a very reactive dog so needs a calm companion who will not challenge him or cause 'drama' but will put him in his place when he gets over the top (he is still a pup so can be a bit jumpy and barky with others sometimes. Please consider making this wonderful boy a member of your family and contact us for more information / an adoption application. $140 adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, micro chip and registration, wormer, flea and heartworm prevention while the dog is in our care.
