Posted Breed: Retriever / Mixed (short coat). "TYLER"--male/neutered--retriever mix--tan/wht--5 months old Tyler is such a cutie and he talks when he first greets you! He was found as a stray and taken to a small shelter with hardly any foot traffic so he was brought into rescue. He is as sweet as he is handsome and soooo loving. Although initially Tyler can be a little shy in a new environment, he warms up quickly with gentle encouragement. He is potty and crate trained and loves to play with other dogs so he would do best in a home with another dog. Very affectionate and loves his person too ... likes to chill and be in your lap or cuddled up next to you in bed. Tyler would love to be part of a loving ,forever home and would return that love many times over. Maybe he's the one for you! Contact us at forgottentails@gmail.com Adoption fee is $200 (includes neuter, shots, microchip, hw and flea prevention)

A.K.A. : A mongrel, mixed-breed dog
Overview: A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

More About Mutt Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Basset Hound / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). "Crash"--male/neutered--basset hound/pit bull mix--1 yr old Meet Crash! Fun-loving goofball. Bull in a China Shop. Lovable, clumsy, wonderful, hilarious puppy. Crash is all of these and more. Crash first came into our rescue after being brought into a rural animal shelter. He had been hit by a car and was clearly in pain. After a quick trip to the vet, it was discovered that Crash luckily had no serious injuries or broken bones - just a lot of soreness and bruising. With some pain medicine and rest, he quickly made a complete rec...overy and as soon as it didn't hurt to move around, he hasn't stopped finding a way to have fun. You just can't keep a good puppers down! Crash is an active boy. He loves playtime and running around with his foster brothers and sisters. He's a big puppy with big Bassett feet and a silly and sweet disposition. If you will let him, Crash will push other pets ( or people ) out of the way so he can cuddle up right next to you in bed. He likes to lay his head on the pillow just like a person and stretch out. Although he is sweet natured and doesn't seem to have an ounce of meanness in him, he would not be a good choice for a home with small children. He's just too clumsy and still learning about boundaries. He would be a great companion for another dog or would do well with an active person, couple or family with older kids. Crash is friendly with other dogs and cats and is well socialized to both. He is very smart and a fast learner, but has a lot of puppy enthusiasm that would benefit from puppy training classes. You just can't find a more loveable pup. Crash is about 10 months old and currently weighs about 45 pounds. Adoption fee is $200 (includes neuter, rabies, DHLPP & bordatella vaccinations, negative fecal, negative heartworm test, current on heartworm and flea and tick preventative, and microchip) Contact manypawsrescue@gmail.com or call 817-755-0023

Posted Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound (short coat). Bubba aka JW aka Johnnie WalkerDog • Treeing Walker Coonhound • Adult • Male • Large Johnnie Walker aka JW aka Bubba is one lucky boy. He had been wandering in a neighborhood for a few weeks and no one wanted to feed him as it would encourage him to stay around and he was unwanted. He was taken to the shelter emaciated, covered in fleas and ticks, intestinal worms, skin allergies and had extremely enlarged testicles. Poor boy had to have an immediate neuter and also tested positive for heartworms. Fortunately he has no symptoms and is undergoing treatment. He has put on pounds and had his time at the spa to bring out the shine in his coat ... now he's beautiful! Bubba is a typical hound in that he follows his nose wherever it leads him so he would do best in a home with a privacy fence to discourage roaming. He gets along great with his fellow foster dogs but kitties would be a problem due to his breed. He loves everyone and is a big couch potato in the house but loves his exercise time. This sweet boy really deserves a permanent loving home with someone familiar with hounds. He will definitely sing for his supper .... baaoooo, baoooo!!! Bubba is around 7 yrs and 70 lbs Adoption fee: $200 (Includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test and prevention, deworming, microchip) Contact manypawsrescue@gmail.com or call 817-755-0023

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). "Blossom"--female/spayed--Pitbull mix--9 months old One of our newest additions, Blossom. Just a puppy so hopefully will grow into her ears! Blossom is a sweet-tempered, playful and funny 9 month old Pitbull mix puppy who was rescued from a local shelter. Sadly, Blossom was unlikely to get adopted because she had extensive hair loss from puppy mange and was passed over by all the people who took one look at her and kept walking. Puppy mange is easy... to treat so shortly after getting some medicine, Blossom had all her fur again. She has beautiful brindle markings in a striking tiger-like pattern and now is a head-turner when she walks by. Blossom is that dog that proves everyone wrong about Pitbulls. She is gentle, smart, eager to please and gets along great with other dogs and cats too. She is still a puppy and not quite housebroken yet but getting better everyday. Blossom is high maintenance right now just because she is a puppy and will require time, patience and continued training from her new owner, but has all the makings of a gentle couch potato as an adult. Blossom can't wait to find a family or person to spoil her! Adoption fee: $200 (Includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test and prevention, deworming, microchip)
