Posted Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Faye is a very affectionate and loving 1 year old girl. She is blind but you would never know. She adjusts to her new surroundings beautifully!! It only took her a day to learn my home. She is crate trained and potty trained. She gets super excited around children because she can't see and they want to touch her face and she's just not sure about that so she would rather have a home without young children. She gets along great with all three of my dogs though she does get super excited so she would need a young dog that loves to play as much as her. Faye loves her walks and bones and has to sleep at night in bed with me and her foster siblings. She's just a big cuddle bug!! If your interested in meeting Faye you can reach me at my email and by filling out an app for her. Trishiatinker@aol.com All pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and on a flea/tick preventative. Cats are tested for FIV/FeLV and dogs are tested for heartworms. Adoption fee is $110 for cats and $150 for dogs. To meet this pet, please fill out a dog application or cat application. Not able to adopt? Inquire about fostering or sponsoring this pet. A.K.A. : A mongrel, mixed-breed dog
Overview: A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

More About Mutt Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Pointer / Hound / Mixed (short coat). Ranger is a 2 -3 year old 3 legged Pointer/Hound mix. He was found as a stray in Texas County Missouri under a bridge after either being thrown out of a car or being hit by one and going off the bridge. Snuggle rescued him from a county shelter and brought him to St Louis to have surgery to repair a broken palate in his mouth and a broken shoulder. Surgery was successful, but after several months of therapy, he still had no feeling in his leg or foot. The leg had to be amputated. He is going great and doesn't let 3 legs hold him back. He is very sweet and loving and needs a family of his own! He can be a little bossy with other dogs till he gets to know them, but he currently lives with 4 other ones and does fine. He is a strong boy so would probably do better with older kids! All pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and on a flea/tick preventative. Leo is quite possibly the sweetest, most loving and affectionate dog around. The choice to rehome him is a difficult one. I would love to find him his new forever home. He has a moderate to high activity level and loves to run. If Leo is in too dry an atmosphere it can affect his skin to the point of opening wounds from scratching at the dry skin. He is current on all his vaccinations and his vet records are available. Leo has lived with a cat, bird, kids and has spent time at the local dog park and he loves everyone!

The fees, policies and guarantees that apply to All Paws Rescue pets do not apply to Dozer. To adopt Dozer, please contact his current owner, Jennifer Palmer, at 314-560-6036 or by email at palmerfam4@gmail.com. Dozer is a six year old male Catahoula Leopard Dog mix in search of a loving home. He is approximately 60 lbs and has beautiful markings. He is an affectionate and cuddly dog. He is fully house trained, non-destructive and listens to basic commands. He loves to play and go for walks, but does not require tons of activity. He is kind of a couch potato, especially if it is in your lap! He is currently living with a cat and has no problems. He does not like other dogs though, he wants to sniff them but does not like it when they return the hello. Dozer needs to live in a home that does not have children around. The unpredictability of children can make him nervous and he could snap at or bite them. After bonding with his new family he will be perfect dog for an adult family that wants a loyal, loving companion. He is fixed, healthy and up to date on vaccinations.

Posted Breed: Irish Wolfhound / Newfoundland Dog / Mixed (long coat). This is a courtsey post. Please contact Sue.Hall@benojgundlachco.com or call 618-632-5344 for more information. Hi, my name is Lakota and I turned 5 years old this week. My breed was listed as mix newfoundland/irish wolfhound. I am not a big boy as I only weight 62 lbs. I am current on my shots as of last month. My heartworm check came back normal and I am on current heartworm meds. I will be coming from a home that has had so much love that I will be in need of a new home that can provide the same love, kindness and devotion that I am accustom to. I am not an outdoor dog and I do not know how to play with toys. I have had three other dogs to play with all of the time so I did not need toys. Over the past few months I have decided that I do not care for one of my brothers that I have lived with for the past five years. So we don’t hurt each other mom has decided it best to find a new home for one of us. I play fine with the other dogs and love having them around. We play and roll all over each other. I would probably be continent without another dog and enjoy the one on one attention. Cats and other species of animals would not be recommended. I do not like to sleep in a bed with my mom, but might be okay sleeping next to the bed after I get used to the idea of not sleeping somewhere close to my kennel. I love to lay on the air conditioning vents most of the days as they keep me cool with my long hair. I do know the command of go lay down, but you will have to show me where my new spot will be or I will get confused. I have two places at home right now. I have a rather springy butt so sit down doesn’t last very long for me. With a little practice and no other dogs for distraction, I feel I could learn all kinds of commands. I often cry when I get confused about what you want me to do. I want to make you happy but I am not always sure what you mean. Patience and understanding always help me when this becomes a problem. A gentle pat on the head and some insurance that I am not doing something wrong quickly corrects the problem. My mom wasn’t a very good teacher. She spoiled us way too much. I have never been around children and mom does not think that learning to play with them now would be a very good idea. Mom thinks the perfect home would be with just adults. I love people so much and people always say they would like to have me for a pet. I love to have my butt scratched and will dance all over the floor for you if you scratch it. I am a very polite eater and will not bite your fingers if you give me cookies. I am very protective of my own food bowl and prefer not to share it with other dogs. I am also very comfortable in my kennel and usually prefer to eat and sleep in there with the door open. I am willing to go in a kennel if you prefer me to be there for short periods of time while you are gone. I do not chew on anything but do occasionally like to have a rawhide bone. I need plenty of love because that is what my mom has always given me. She loves me so much!!! My mom is terribly ill and can no longer take care of all of us. Trying to find us a new home has been her last priority as she felt she would die rather than give us up. She has always adopted her dogs and shared her life only with all of us. Her home has only been full of dogs and nothing else, no family, roommates or friends. We made her very happy and content. As you can tell from my picture I do have long hair. I am not very receptive to having my fur brushed. I don’t like it! If there is anyone out there who could love me as much as my mom, I might be able to go home with you. There may be a little trouble adjusting to not having mom around, but over time and with enough love I may be able to get along without her. I know in my heart that she will never adjust to being without me. My mom cries a lot because we have to go and it makes her sicker to worry about us. If you would like to come visit me or take me home for the weekend to see if I could fit in, I think my mom would be okay with that. If you have questions about me and you want to talk to my mom please feel free to do so. Please don’t be discouraged if my mom cries all of the time, she just never imagined that she would have to part with her children. Although I told my mom not to let you in on this little secret, she felt that it would be in everyone’s best interest if she included this in the info. DO NOT EVER, EVER LEAVE THE TOILET SEAT UP!!! You will have many regrets if you do. I will apologize ahead of time should you somehow forget upon occasion. Mom thinks you will only do it once. My mom forgot to tell you that I have never had a collar on, nor have I ever been on any kind of leash. I have a one acre back yard with no entrance and exits, so I have always been allowed to run the yard. I am extremely well behaved in a car, so if you want to go for a drive, put me in and lets go hit the road. I will happily tag along for any ride as long as you never ever leave me in the car by myself. I get anxious and might tear something up if you leave me alone.
