Posted Breed: Mountain Dog / Mixed (short coat). Jomay: 2 years, spayed female, 32 Lbs. Jomay is a very friendly and smart but a little shy girl. She gets scared and nervous when meeting strangers at beginning. However, once she gets familiar and feels comfortable with strangers she becomes very sweet and attach to new people. The rescuer first met Jomay when she was wandering at parking lot near our house. One day we found her was lying on the ground and covered with blood, the rescuer took her to the Pet hospital immediately. The doctor said Jomay was pregnant but due to her bad health condition and heavy weight in tummy that caused miss carriage of her babies. That had caused her not only lost her babies and almost died from the heavy bleeding. Two weeks recuperating after emergency treatment, Jomay finally recovered and ready to go home. The rescuer coundn't keep her inside her small apartment, sadly the rescuer had to leave Jomay back to the parking lot. So the rescuer did neuter and cut ear mark.(TNR) But the rescuer can hear Jomay howling at night and each time she walks by, she would run to us and want to follow the rescuer home. Recently, the rescuer found that someone would go to the parking lot or nearby area to take dogs killing them and selling them to the meat market. She is such a sweet and good girl that the rescuer was afraid she may end up getting killed and become someone’s food. So, the rescuer tried to find her a foster home that can be temporary for her to stay. Because Jomay was so badly abused in the past, she gets nervous and was shy when she met new people. However, after few months staying in the foster home with good care Jomay's personality has improved a lot. She still gets shy when meeting strangers, but after spending time and become comfortable with you, she will follow you and lay nearby you. She is also well trained and house broken, also loves to riding in the car. Jomay is a very people friendly and loving dog, she is very calm, sweet and well behavior with both adult and kids. However, maybe her past experiences of long term suffering without food and was attack by other animals. She does become very protective to her food. She is suitable for family without other pets because she may be fighting over food. Jomay is a sweet girl that just wants to be with people she trusted and show her some loves. We sincerely hope there will be an angel shows up and adopt Jomay soon to give her a forever home that she can also loves you back unconditionally. There will be no more scary days and nights wondering on the street or worrying about losing her life. A.K.A. : A mongrel, mixed-breed dog
Overview: A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

More About Mutt Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Milo, a 7 years, male, 44lbs, very sweet and submissive dog. Hi, my name is Milo. Please do not be deceived by my elderly look. I am just a normal 7 years boy wearing a grey mixed coat. You see, my story is kind of long and sad because I have been transferring from a private shelter to one the other in pass 5 years, seeing no hope to end up a real, loving home… But now, AHAN Organization found me and took me out of the hopeless loop. Since then, my life has totally changed. Perhaps Fate wanted to temper my will. I was inspected a tumor on my left rear knee which would jeopardize my live. Despite having enormous unwillingness with sobs, auntie Jessamy had to sign my amputation surgical agreement to save my live. Several weeks past, my physical conditions got better and better every day. I adjust very well to walk and jog with 3 legs and finding no problem with my daily activity. After necessary hospitalization, all my doggie and kitty friends at foster home welcomed me home as usual. When I walk down the street or play in the park, all people treat me so nicely with lots of encouragement. How wonderful these people are, I am so glad that God has not forgotten me and gratefully I was born with optimistic, submissive and sweet nature. I just wish one day, my special family would come online seeing me, knowing that I’m here waiting for them to take me home. When the time comes, I’ll give them all my love and the sweetest smile to treasure the miracle of having a loving home. Luca, neutered male, 1.5 years old, 33 Lbs weight Hello Everyone, I am Luca, I am in the processing of finishing up my full course of training classes with uncle Brent, he really is the best. He taught me how to heal, sit, stay, down and not only I follow the command really well, even if someone accidently step on my paw, I won’t react, because I know all I have to do is just to pull my paws away. This is how much confidence I have now. Uncle Brent told me that I am a very good dog. Now the next task I need to learn is re-call. That means whenever anyone call my name, I need to run to the person who called me. I should be ready in about a week, would you like to meet me? I love to have someone who can give me clear directions so I can be the best company you could ever ask for. Please contact AHAN if you think you are ready for a life time companion. Here is one of my video training section, isn’t that cool?

She is a very special girl, always wears a friendly smile. Miggie will make a good companion for any type of family. Meet Miggie! Miggie was a stray dog wandering in front of a park. The rescuer spotted her being pushed around by the crowds in the street. Noticed that Miggie was at the late stage of pregnancy, the rescuer decided to take her in. Seven puppies were born just three days later. Since the place used to house the stray dogs already jammed with more than 20 dogs, the rescuer had to put Miggie and her babies at a narrow fenced in corner. Unfortunately, due to the cold winter, these puppies couldn’t make it through and all died.It left Miggie alone waiting for her forever home. Miggie is a healthy, calm, and mild-mannered dog. The hardship hasn’t changed her disposition; she is just as friendly and warm to people. Are you willing to offer Miggie a loving home of her own?

      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: San Francisco, CA
Posted Breed: Mountain Dog / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Lissa (lissa.juan@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Lulu, spayed, 8 years old, 34.8 lb In Feb.2014, under the request of a friend, a dedicated rescuer who is a mid-school teacher set out to look for a dog being described as skin and bone straying in the bushy area not far from her TNR cats\' feeding spot. The teacher didn't know that what she was about to discover would utterly shatter her heart... It was a dilapidated factory site left abandoned where a black dog (Amigo) was chained in the frigid weather without food or water. The only shelter he had was a sheet of shaking plastic that could blow away anytime. The friendly dog obviously had been starved for a long time, his rib cage protrude from his skin. The second he smelled food from the bag the teacher was carrying, he stuck his head in the plastic bag gobbled up the pellet before the teacher could put it in the bowl. The teacher was heartbroken and frustrated by what she saw. Realizing that aside from a full time teaching job, she was overwhelmed by dozens of rescue dogs and cats at home to take care of, there's no way she could take any of the desperate dogs home. Nonetheless with the approval of the factory family she began bringing up dog food and water after school everyday. She cleaned the cages, bought two big cages and aligned them together in the front yard where she secured with panels and sheets of plastic to keep out the heavy rain and cold; besides all 5 dogs were sheltered in the cages waiting for her to come everyday to feed, free them, take turns taking them to the vet for medical care. Despite the physical and emotional suffering the Lulu's family endured the entire lives. All of them are very friendly and they know love . Old LuLu is a super sweet girl along with Amigo are the most social in the family. Unlike Amigo and Lulu who will wag their tails when they meet you, Lucky is calm but will not shy away from the unfamiliar. Ying Ying is timid at first, will slowly warm up; once she does she is full of enthusiasm and will follow you around and like to know what you are doing. It's understandable and sad that poor Duo Duo is the shy one given he was caged alone in horrific situation and had never been given any attention since he was born. Unlike the other four who come when called, he doesn't come when he is off leash, instead he follows the other 4 dogs around and willingly go in his cage after their free time. The improvement this brave family have made over the 7 months is amazing and proved what love can do. Unfortunately they are facing a crisis that could be a tragic one as the whole area will be demolished in mid-October. For the Lulu's family, the past seven months is the beginning of their lives, the first time in their lives they are loved and someone cares. It'd be deeply sad if their story would be sealed with tragedy. For Lucy’s before-rescue films, please go www.ahan.org. Temperament: 1) Low, medium or high energy: medium. 2) Alpha or submissive: Submissive. 3) Does the dog gets along with other dogs: She is dog social, she befriends dogs at the park. However when she is at the property, she'll bark without aggression at passing dogs. 4) Does the dog gets along with cats? Unknown, but there have always been some stray cats around where Lulu lives her entire life and she is used to having them around. 5) Is the dog good with children? : Yes. 6) Is the dog good with strangers? On walks, she is accustomed to meeting strangers, very friendly being petted. However she barks at strangers passing by when chained. 7) Housetrained or not? : Currently Lulu is chained and will hold it until she is freed to relieve herself 8) Good walk on leash or not? : Yes. Lu-Lu is dog and people social. She likes to decide where she wants to explore today, and only come back after she is done exploring. Therefore it's suggested to off leash her in a secure and fenced area. She walks perfectly on the lead and likes to sniff around. 9) Bark a lot or seldom ? : Seldom, unless if someone\'s passing by or at the door. 10) Any basic training? No. 11) Is the dog afraid of man? No. 12) Does it like to chew or bark a lot when left along?: She was caged for years and has never been an indoor dog before. However she exhibits behavior like digging through trash for food which is likely a result of suffering from long time starvation before her rescue 13) How is the dog with new environment? :Pretty well. But Lu doesn’t like to be caged 14) Does the dog have food aggression with other dogs? : No. 15) Food aggression with people (is it ok when people touch his food when the dog is eating) ? No. 16) Has the dog ever bitten anyone? No. 17) She takes nicely to pills when you put the pill in her mouth If you're interested in Lucy, please visit AHAN.org and search for Lucy. Thank you!

Cattle Dog Mix, Neutered male, 2.5 years old, 50 pounds Cowboy, 3 years old Neutered 47lb When you see me, you then understand what I am named Cowboy - I look just like a cute little cow. Unlike a lot of poor stray dogs, I used to have a family. Sadly, one day in early April, I was abandoned on the hill of a mountain when I was about five months old. I didn’t’ know what was going on and still faithfully waiting for my family to pick me up. After wandering there for a few days, I was hungry and exhausted. As I was feeling hopeless, two kind ladies spotted me and came to my rescue. Thankfully, I was cared for in a loving foster home and then put up for adoption. However, dogs like my size are not easy to be adopted since most people live in apartments and prefer dogs of smaller size. It is God’s blessing, though. My foster mom is not in a rush to find me home. Instead, she is very careful when choosing a home for her rescues because cases of dog abuse are reported often here. Besides, she doesn’t want me to be abandoned again. I am friendly to people even though I am shy at the beginning. Mom says my color makes me very special and beautiful and that I deserve a nice warm family to love and take care of me forever. I hope they find me soon because I’m just bursting to give someone all my love! Alpha_______ or submissive V Energy level: medium Does the dog get along with other dogs at home? Not every dog. She loves people, always welcomes everyone she meets with a big smile and non-stop wagging tail. She is easy-going and obedient by nature. Alva is playful and cuddly; she will make a wonderful companion for any loving family. It was on a rainy morning Alva first met her rescuer. The rescuer was on her way to work, and the image of a small helpless puppy, only a few months old, standing in the rain caught her eyes. As she knelt down to rub Alva’s head, little Alva reached up to kiss her. It’s hard to turn down this affectionate little pup, the rescuer took Alva home. Alva is a smart and affectionate puppy. She was taken to the adoption event every week. She’d greet everyone walking by with a big smile and happy wagging tail. Given the low adoption rate in Taiwan, weeks and months passed by…little Alva was still waiting.
