Posted Breed: Plott Hound / Terrier (medium coat). Barley is a cute little puppy who was born in our care over two months ago. The mom is a beautiful petite plott hound mix. She made some very interesting looking puppies! We don't think they will be huge but they won't be small breed dogs! Barley is a cute long hair brindle!

Plott Hound

A.K.A. : Plott, Plotthund

More About Plott Hound Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Kiki

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Black Mouth Cur
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Baby
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Black Mouth Cur / Beagle (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Kiki is an independent girl that loves playing by herself. She'll play in the yard for hours before looking for the closest human to snuggle up to for a long nap. KiKi's mom is just a puppy (10 months) and was surrendered pregnant to the shelter. She was also surrendered with an purebreed unfixed male beagle who we suspect was the father. They are petite puppies so we believe they will be medium sized.

      Galadriel

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Black Mouth Cur
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Black Mouth Cur / Hound (short coat). Adoption Fee: $150.00. Galadriel is a friendly pup always looking for a friend. She and her pups came to us when they were about 6weeks old. From the time they got home Galadriel was already making friends. She has a calm manner about her that puts all the other animals at ease. She gladly adopted a couple of older pups and took care of them like they were her own. Galadriel will make a great companion for anyone. She loves to play with toys but is pretty low energy and doesn't require a lot of exercise. Galadriel walks well on a leash but sometimes needs a gentle tug and a reminder to "walk with me". She is also crate trained and housebroken. She is very well mannered inside but will occasionally chew on a shoe or tv remote if left unattended too long. Galadriel is good with cats, dogs, and children. Her ideal home will be with a family with lots of love and affection to give. Galadriel does not need a fenced yard and would do well in an apartment with frequent walks. Galadriel and her 7 puppies were rescued from a shelter. This beautiful, well socalized, playful mom and her puppies are what we call a "super mix". They are mixed with so many types of dogs it hard to pin point a dominate breed. We have listed her as curr mix/hound mix. This is a complete guess! All i can tell you for sure is that she loves to play with other dogs, is 43lbs fully grown and is tri colored with short hair!

He'd be happy being held all day if he could get away with it. Frodo is a 4lb male. This litter and mom were rescued from a shelter. These beautiful, well socalized, playful pups are what we call a "super mix". They are mixed with so many types of dogs it hard to pin point a dominate breed. Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Jack Russell Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: $150.00. Baxter was pulled from the local animal control. He was horribly evacuated and was badly in need of some TLC. He has since recovered in a wonderfully foster home for the last couple of months! This sweet JRT is now ready for his furever Home. This is what his foster had to say about him: Baxter is the sweetest boy ever, not a yappy barker, happy go lucky, tail wagging, kissing boy, gets along with the three other dogs at my house, our alpha Charlie is a chow chow he will be 10 years old next month, Baxter learned the pecking order real quick. Baxter is not the type of dog that jumps on you, he likes to sit with whoever is in the recliner, and when I lay on the sofa he does too. Baxter loves me best (female) but he and my husband get along great when I am not around. Baxter wants me to be his and will sometimes growl at my husband. I quickly cortext this and tall him no. He will need contiued correction if he displays this behavior in his new Home. he is a good boy, when he 1st came here he gulped his food, but now he eats like a gentleman. After all he has been theough he still trust, if he gets left outside, he sits at the door and waits patiently!

      Breed: Chihuahua

      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Fee: $100.00. Please contact Amoret Bridwell (animaladvocatesfl@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Lady was pulled from the local animal shelter. She was in the cage with another younger chihuahua that we were pulling and she just looked so sad. God knows why she was at the shelter at her age...but we have her and she is safe now. She just needs a warm doggy bed to sleep in and some gentle pets in her old age! Foster update: Lady is 12 years old and 12 pounds of sweetness. She is the submissive type and timid at first but warms up quickly. She loves to sit by you or in her crate and is happy knowing someone is in the room. She is great with dogs, big and small and great with cats. Her foster has 3 cats and Lady pays them no attention and is very friendly to them. She barely barks only when a new person comes into the house. She enjoys riding in the car and will sit on your lap while driving if you let her. She even will nudge your hand so you will pet her. She has a pep to her step in the mornings and likes to burrow in a blanket and run around wagging her tail when she's being peppy. Most times she just enjoys lounging around and being near someone. She will make someone a very good loyal companion.

Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Chico was born approximately 5/2012. He is very loving when he feels safe in his new surroundings. Chico is not great with other dogs, he will bark at them even when walking. He will do best as an only dog and with a fenced yard so he doesn’t have to be walked. Chico is such a sweet boy to his people, he will make someone a great companion, but without young kids around, just because he is temperamental with new people.
