    Andy

    Breed: Saint Bernard
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Yakima, WA
Posted Breed: Saint Bernard (medium coat). Please take the time to read the entire profile. We spend alot of time putting as much info in them as possible. Thank you in advance. Andy- Andy is a sweet soul who started in such a rough place. He is not even a year old and has been through so much. He is a great dog and we adore him. He is a sweet saint Bernard boy who came to us horribly emaciated. He has come so far. He has natural tail and ears and is growing his hair back from the sores he came in with. He was bald and one giant scab from his shoulders back. He is coming along and doing so much better he is a great dog and we adore him and know he will find a great home. This shy guy just needs a home where he can blossom. Andy and Ann came to us from high kill shelter in southern Ca. They were turned in by their owners who did not have time to care for them and did not seem to have any intention to care for them either. The two dogs were in horrific shape. They were less then half their recommended body weight. Scared, full of fleas and infection, and was missing most of their hair. They also had clearly been abused and the brother and sister had been bred together. It was a mess. Luckly the shelter is an amazing one and we love working with them. They are great dogs and we know the deserve a great home and a family that loves them. We WILL NOT PUT THEM IN THE SAME HOME! Siblings deserve a chance to be their own dog, and they are so fearful with each other and sister beats up on brother that they need their own families. Andy is a sweet boy who really wants to be someones best friend. He is a fast eater as he did come in extremely starved. So he would need some time to learn how to eat out of a shared bowl. He is learning how to play with toys, what treats are, and is coming along amazingly. He had no ideas what toys were, or even how to play with other dogs as sister beat him up a lot. So he got to go to the old folks home and hang out with the elderly dogs. They not only gave him rules, but were willing to take a young pup in and teach him how to have fun. Old dogs may not learn fast, but they have tons to teach us. He is a great dog and has been great with kids, dogs, cats, and even other animals. He has not had a lot of training and will need an owner that can work with him. He has a great heart and wants to please. Andy is up to date, dewormed, flea treated, altered, and gaining weight. He came in emaciated, abused, full of wounds and most of his hair was missing. He was a scared, sick, and skinny guy. He has come so far and has gained weight, grown back a lot of his hair and is on the mend. He needs to still gain some weight but we believe in doing it slow and safely. So we want this to take months so it is safe for his heart. He is working on basic commands, leash work, house breaking and done great with crate training. We have not seen any allergies and feel that his wounds were due to being so emaciated as well as a major flea infestation. He has been healing and cleared of bugs. He is a sweet boy who wants to cuddle into your lap and wiggle into your soul. He is a sweet dog who we adore. He just needs a happy ending now! We spend a lot of time trying to get to know the dogs in our program as best as we can. This means that we have spent time introducing them to dogs, cats, kids, animals, people and as many things as we can. We try to do as much as we can to evaluate them, both with in our group and if the dogs come from other rescues or shelters their evaluations as well. However dogs are individuals and will react to different situations differently. This means that we do not know how a dog will react in every situation. We give out our best guess based off information provided but the handler of a dog and the way they are introduced to a situation makes a huge impact. So if you have any questions of how to introduce a dog to your home, please let us know and we will provide as much info as we can from pamphlets to helping find a trainer in your area. Our rescue aims to help dogs who are passed by and over looked by most rescues and people. We help the dogs who are in need of medical care, vetting, training and breeds that most will not help with. In most shelters if you are large dog, a big dog, or a male dog; from the moment you walk in you are on barrowed time. If you have docked ears or are a guardian breed your time was over before you walked in the doors. We aim to save these dogs and give them a second chance. Please help us save more lives by helping with our medical bills as they grow. This year has already been hard and we have many medical dogs in need. https://www.gofundme.com/v2eap2f8 If you would like to adopt this pet please send us an email. Applications will be sent to you via email. We do our best to get back to emails in 24 hrs. If it has been longer then that please resend another email. We would love to hear from you. We welcome any questions that you may have. Our goal is to find the right fit for every home, not just any home! We have been informed that some of the links to email us regarding our adoptable dogs are not working. This has been on going for a few weeks with petfinder and a few other links. If you find this to be an issue that you are having please send an email directly to us at: RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com If you are inquiring on a specific pet we do ask that you put the name of the pet in the subject line. So we know who it is that you are inquiring regarding. Thank you in advance for understanding as we work through this. As with any rescue we are always in need of donations. MANY of our dogs come in with special needs or medical issues. These need to be resolved before going home. If you would like to make a donation toward a dogs medical care you can use our paypal address RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com you can also email us for a physical address. We are always in need of dog food, soft food for some of our special needs dogs, collars, leashes, crates, and toys!

    Breed: Saint Bernard
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult

Posted Breed: Saint Bernard / American Bulldog. Meet Your Match Evaluation: Orange-Busy Bee – “I’m a naturally playful, curious and trusting canine. Take me for a big walk every day; give me something to do. After my job’s done, I’ll curl up in front of the fire with you in the evenings.” There is a Broadway musical called “The Most Happy Fella," and that is a perfect description of our wonderful Turbo! This big-hearted, life-loving dog will be such a great part of the family lucky enough to take him home! He is five years old and weighs around 85 pounds. Turbo's pure white coat is beautifully marked with brown patches, spots and speckles. The first thing you notice about him are Turbo's two different colored eyes - one is azure blue, and the other is hazel brown. There is a legend that says dogs with two different color eyes can see both heaven and earth. We love this amazing sentiment! Turbo does very well on a leash, considering his size and strength. He loves his outings in the shelter yard, where he especially enjoys running around and playing with the tennis balls. Turbo has such a gentle, good-natured personality and loves to be petted and have his head rubbed. He will sit and gaze at you adoringly, which is sure to capture your heart! Because of his protective nature, he will need to be the only animal in his new family, where he will be the king of his castle! Turbo would also do best in a home without small children. One of our dedicated volunteers reports: “I adore this amazing dog! Turbo is so much fun to be around and I love the perfect symmetry of his gorgeous face. Once we are done with his walk and playtime, Turbo sits at my side to be petted and is a very special cuddle buddy. He has so much love to give and is very affectionate! Turbo is one of the first dogs I take out in the morning!” E-ail wcacngels@yahoo.com for more information! E-mail wcacangels@yahoo.com for more information!

Posted Breed: Saint Bernard (medium coat). My name is Duchess and I'm one BIG, BEAUTIFUL girl. I am just a little bit over 2 years old and have good manners. I have been living with several dogs of different sex, breed and size, and while I really liked two of them, I wasn't a big fan of the other two. This means that I am "Dog Selective" so I might be willing to accept your dog if he or she is nice, like me. I LOVE, LOVE humans, and of course, my bred makes me protective of those I love. I'm happy, like to play, I really like car rides, and, of course, enjoy turning heads when I'm in public with my people. If you'd like to meet me, please email: angels@akitaangels.org

Posted Breed: Saint Bernard / Hound (medium coat). Charlie and his best friend Copper both rescues are now in need of a home in their senior years. Their guardians are ill and moving to Mexico and can’t bring along Charlie and Copper. They unfortunately put them on Craig’s list and decided to euthanize them if they did not find them a home. One of our fellow rescue group, the Animal Support Project (“TASP”) found them on Craig’s list; they called us and we together need to’ find these two a home. Charlie the St Bernard is 9 years 10 months and was rescued 7 years ago where he was in a home with 3 Huskies that would gang up on Charlie and eat all his food. When Charlie was rescued by his current family, he was only 90 lbs and starving…he ate 32 cups of food in the first 24 hours with them. He now weighs 120 lbs. He looks huge because he is a long hair Saint. He is neutered, UTD on all shots and microchipped. He is not aggressive around food or anything. Charlie is a big teddy bear. He loves his walks and hi naps. Charlie is very low key; he loves to hang out and enjoy life; loves children and all human beings…nothing he likes more than being pet, or going for a stroll! Not sure how Charlie is with cats as he has not been around many. He is a true Saint. His best friend is Copper, a Coons Hound. They are devoted companions. They are best friends and there has never been an issue between them. Two years ago, Copper was attacked by a bunch of coyotes and Charlie saved his life. Copper is UTD on shots and he is also neutered and microchipped. He is 11 years old. Copper is the sweetest dog whether with other animals, children or people in general….He used to eat dinner with his neighbors cats. Copper has a fat deposit in his neck which often happens with Coons Hound…the vet said nothing to worry about it. He has had it for the last 3 to 4 years, and it doesn’t bother him. Copper was rescued from Hurricane Katrina when he was about 9 months old…he is scared of loud noises and storms due to his experience with the Hurricane. He came from the Paris parish which was the most under water. He is a survivor and loved hunting in the woods when he was younger. He is very mellow now at 11 years 8 months but still has plenty of energy to go for walks every day, chase a few cars down the road, and play a game with Charlie for his milk bones (they both love playing with milk bones). He is an incredibly smart dog…he still has his young spirit although he is very gentle. If there is a body of water, he will happily go in. If someone is just looking for a companion that is always game to do something, he will not disappoint. Charlie is more laid back; he likes to lumber around and nap and snore. These seniors are bonded and must remain together; they are all they have left. Reality is they are two big old mushy gentlemen who are in need of a home to live out their retirement years. Luckily we found them before they were euthanized- they are very glad TASP and PAWS found them on Craig’s list- we all know the horrors there, especially for big old dogs. They will make great watchdogs, welcoming committee, floor-warmers, ice-breakers and conversation starters. They will help clean the kitchen floors leaving no scraps behind (no onions, please) and watch after the house while you’re away. And they promise they will never ever move away and leave you behind as they know how that feels- Please contact nypeticare@aol.com

Posted Breed: Saint Bernard (long coat). COURTESY POSTING NOT AN ISBR DOG This is Dutchess. She’s 3 years old female. Her back story: Family moved and left her and another dog behind. Duchess was left outside and drinking water that collected on tarp. She is housetrained and great with all the kids she’s met. youngest has been 5. Is fine with most dogs and can very playful and sweet. Loves playing fetch. No reports of guarding food and water. Has been exposed to cats and is interested but not aggressive. Has growled at strangers mainly very tall men. Will approach slowly but I have introduced her to many people and has done great. She is shy at first but if new people go slowly she quickly turns into a snuggly love bug. Walks well for the most part but have noticed that she will lunge at certain cars. Easily redirected if person walking is paying attention. I can tell she is much more comfortable outdoors and is very playful. I’ve had her in my own house and I had no complaints. I will get her booster shot and microchip this week. We have had trouble putting weight on her. She’s a very picky eater. Breed: Saint Bernard

    Location: Sanford, FL
Posted Breed: Saint Bernard (long coat). Beethoven has received a clean bill of health after his tumor removal and gets chiropractor adjustments to help his hip dysplasia enjoys walks on his time, belly rubs, kisses car rides in a car that is low based and big back seat and would be best with older children and only dog, Judy was called to help rehome this magnificent dog who was seriously neglected; he was underweight, tired, and had intestinal parasites. He is great with other dogs and our volunteers. He loves to put his head on your lap and lay there while you rub his ears. The vet recommends a quiet home where Beethoven can be the center of attention, and feels he should be the only dog in the home to ensure low activity. He has so much love to offer - please consider opening your home and heart to this gentle giant! Dog for a Day UPDATE! Beethoven went out with a wonderful family and here is what they had to say, "We had such a great time with him! He is the sweetest dog. Very mellow, very low maintenance. He was housetrained. Liked to go on little walks (we were afraid to take him too far because of his hips.) Great with kids. Showed absolutely zero aggression toward anything. The most loving dog. Wasn't bothered by the cat at all." Make sure to check out the picture from his outing below.
