  • Shiba Inu Dog For Adoption in Los alamitos, CA

    Kiko

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Shiba Inu
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Los alamitos, CA
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Please contact Masako (saveshibas@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Pretty red female Kiko, female, red, spayed. Approx 6 years old. This beautiful Shiba girl is a typical Shiba, and would do best in a home without other dogs and without young children. (Older kids are ok). She has lived with other dogs, she does get bossy when it comes to food or treats. She also suffers from seasonal allergies and is on a no grain, no poultry diet. From time to time, she does require medications to keep her skin condition controlled. She is being rehomed mainly due to the allergies. We will require that she remain on a special diet and request applicants to adhere to that requirement so that she can remain healthy and happy. She may also require medications when her allergies flare-up, but we believe on a special diet, she does not need medications for her condition. We request that applicants have a fenced in yard and walk her daily, or walk her 3-4 times in an apartment. Shes is an active gal who loves runs and hikes too! She loves long walks and loves to be cuddled! Kiko can be a bossy Shiba and reactive when there are strange dogs present. She is not very good about being handled by strangers and can be terrible at groomers and vet offices. We would like applicants to have some familiarity with this breed and be committed to working with her by doing some obedience and behavior modification training. The Shiba-Inu is a primitive breed, and a living national monument in their native Japan. They are not very affectionate dogs, but are extremely loyal to their family/owner. Similar to the Japanese Akita because of their appearance and fierce loyalty, Shiba-Inus are a great breed to adopt because they are small-sized dogs that are smart and loyal. They are also known to be escape artists and door-bolters. Adopters who have previously owned or are accustomed to this breed will be considered. If interested in adopting, please complete an application. Applications: http://www.savingshibasinc.org/adopt Adoption Fee $300.00

Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Please contact Masako (saveshibas@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Beautiful Black and Tan male Shiba Mo is a sweet and well behaved Shiba Inu located in Las Vegas, NV- He is approx 5-6 years old and was surrendered to the Henderson Humane Society due to his allergies. He is doing better on medications and we think his allergies are environmental - allergic and sneezes when on grass. He is a super sweet boy, good with all people, very quiet, and an easy dog. Unknown if he is good with children, or with cats. Mo is good with most other dogs. He is neutered, current on vaccines and microchipped. If you are familiar with this breed, enjoy an active lifestyle, you may be the perfect companion for this gorgeous boy! Unlike most Shibas, this cutie enjoys being pet and near his people. This beautiful boy is a typical Shiba, and would do best in a home without young children. (Older kids are ok). He also suffers from seasonal allergies and is on a no grain, no poultry diet. Age: Adult
    Location: Minneapolis, MN
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (short coat). ‚Äč Adoption Fee $300 Meet Yuki! Yuki is the Japanese word for snow... very fitting for this little Shiba girl! Yuki spent her first 6 years as a breeder dog in a puppy mill. She is very shy and will need a patient foster that will work with her on socialization. These dogs often have never been in a home environment and will need to learn how to be "a dog and companion". They will need work on leash training and housetraining. Currently Yuki will only eat at night at the shelter. She will need a safe zone in her foster home until she adjusts. A home with a fenced yard and another dog is highly recommended for Yuki. Hanako

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Shiba Inu
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: Bealeton, VA
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (short coat). Sweet Hanako lived her whole 14 years with her owner, a senior man who died suddenly a few months ago. Initially Hanako and one of the other dogs from the home were put into boarding because the siblings of her owner loved the dogs, but because of housing restrictions, could not take them. The siblings worked hard to get them out of boarding (it was a wonderful place, but the dogs were confused and did not know why they had to leave their other life) and into Foster homes. Hanako ended up in a Foster home on a farm, with a 14 year old boy and his parents, a big yard and a funny little Jack Russell terrier. Hanako and the terrier do not interact much, but Hanako has bonded with her Foster mother and the whole family. Hanako is waiting patiently for her forever home where she can give her heart and soul to someone or a whole family. She would be perfect for an apartment or the suburbs, or the city! She is perfectly housebroken, polite, NEVER barks or even makes a peep. She just needs someone to love her, a warm bed, some attention and some exercise. Hanako is a “young” 14. She has a twinkle in her eye and a spring to her step. She is a Shibu Inu (a Japanese breed) mix and thus a very unique looking dog, who always gets complimented when she is walking in public – and everyone wonders what breed she could be, with her sandy palomino coat, her thin white blaze and her jaunty pricked up ears. She can be initially shy, but always in a sweet, passive way, but once she knows someone she is loyal and loving. She doesn’t ask for much – show her where her dog bed is on the first day, offer her loving kindness, SCRATCH HER NECK (her favorite thing – she will do anything for this!), feed her some good wholesome food, suitable for a senior, and most importantly, promise her a home for the rest of her life so she never has to worry about boarding kennels, Foster homes (not that she doesn’t love it at her Foster home) or being displaced again in her life. Hanako is a funny, loyal, quiet, loving companion, who is just waiting to keep someone company and brighten their life, without asking for much in return! Franny Barne...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Shiba Inu
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Cuba, NY
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). My Life Was Spent in a Puppy Mill! Franny was born about November 1, 2006 and weighs about 22 lbs. She has spent her life in a cage in a puppy mill and is so excited, and amazed, to walk on grass! She is having a blast here and loves the other dogs. A puppy mill dog often does better with another dog in his next life - a normal dog. The normal dog will teach the puppy mill dog how to act in the world. As far as puppy mill fear goes this girl is minor. When we try to pick her up she will run, but otherwise is very comfortable with us, she looks at us dances and wiggles. We want to mention that these small dogs often do better with a potty floor pad available and if you are interested in rescuing a mill dog we'd like to have you go to our website and read the "Working with Mill Dog Notes". www.joyfulrescues.org This little cutie has had her first dental, but the mill dogs teeth are SO bad when they come in that another one may be needed in the near future. Adopting a mill dog is a special kindness as it will take many months or, even, years before the dog truly shows love toward you. But, when that moment happens you see it in their eyes and it will take your breath away! We ADORE this little girl, she has blossomed!! She does have some age related vision loss, but does just fine. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $200.00. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption. Can't Adopt Me? Sugar FOSTER...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Shiba Inu
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: Troy, IL
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). 08/18/16: Update on Sugar. Sugar has come a long way since first coming to her foster home. She loves to run in the yard now which she used to not know what to do with a freedom run. She also loves attention and comes up when her foster mom is sitting or laying down to get some love--she seems to have never had attention before so she now groans when you rub her face and tummy. She will always probably be skittish so needs a quiet environment that she will not always be startled with loud noises and quick movements. She is probably younger than previously thought as she still runs with the young dogs. She is housebroke and does fine with the other dogs. She does get a little aggravated if the youngest gets too rowdy with her but puts him in his place. She's a sweet girl who deserves some one-on-one attention. 01/11/14: This is Sugar. She is at least a 10 year old (probably older) purebred shiba inu who was most definitely used for breeding. She is special needs in the fact that she is extremely skittish about everything. She is completely unfamiliar with a leash and had never been up or down stairs prior to coming to her foster home a couple of weeks ago. She also didn't want anything to do with the snow storm we had this past weekend in fact she wouldn't go outside (she would stand and scratch at the door to come back in) for two days when there was snow on the ground (although she didn't have an accident during this whole time). I think she may have never seen snow before either?? Her breed is bred to hunt the mountains of Japan so it should be her natural habitat so I believe she has led a very contained life and was just used for breeding. She hunches down when u pick her up and prefers to just stay on the bed. Otherwise she is as sweet as sugar, hence, her name. She loves to have her face rubbed (she closes her eyes as if "this feels so good"). As you will see in the pictures the few times she gets off the bed is to gather the stuffed toys which she picks up very gently and brings them to lay next to her as if they are her babies. She pretty much ignores the other 5 dogs in the home except to snap at them if they bother her "babies" too much. I believe she has had many litters. In fact when she was spayed she had pyometra and infection of her uterus, which was completely infected with pus. She was lucky it didnt' burst. She also had the worse teeth I had ever seen, they were completely black. They are nice and clean now, but she did have to have 6 of them removed. She will require a very quiet home that has easy access to go outside to do her business and understand that she has probably had a hard life and just needs security and time to adjust. She has amazingly only had one accident in the home, but that is not unusual for the shiba breed. They do not like to go where they live. Sugar's adoption fee is $145.00. If you are interested in adopting her please go to our home page at www.partnersforpetsil.org and fill out an online application. She is spayed, current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, dewormed and microchipped. Adoptions are held at the O'Fallon, IL PetSmart every Saturday of the month from 11am-3:30pm and at the Glen Carbon, IL PetSmart every Sunday and the first Saturday of the month from 11am-3:30pm. We are also at Petco in Edwardsville Crossing every Sunday of the month from 11:30-3:30 pm. The cats are only at Glen Carbon. Please let us know if you are interested in a pet and we can arrange to have them meet you at one of the adoption events.
