If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescue@petml.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** URBAN TAILS Saturday, July 1 st from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm 2106 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis MN – www.urbantailspetsupply.com DOB: 10/19/16 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: No Requires a fenced yard: Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area HI, I'm Tex! I'm an 8-month old, super smart, Shiba Inu puppy! The amount I learned in one weekend was super impressive! Stairs were new to me, but after watching my foster sibling run down them, I was doing it myself in no time! I've shown how smart I am in such a short time, imagine my potential! Slowly and surely I am getting the hang of things. At first I was nervous of people and am still a little shy at first, but now I take treats from my humans! Take it slow around me and I should be OK. I've also learned how to be loved. I LOVE to be pet on the head, behind my ears, and underneath my chin. I'm getting used to this good life, so I'm a very curious boy. Let me explore a safe and fenced in backyard, and I'm a happy boy. It keeps me entertained for hours! I will need a fenced in yard, since I'm too curious to not have the security of one. Once I come inside, I will happily explore the house and all the toys. I am such a smart boy-I know a command for outside and I'm crate trained. I sleep through the night and I am nearly potty trained! As long as you watch me and let me out on a schedule I don't have any accidents. I am still learning to walk on a leash, but I'm a smart puppy, I just need more patience and time. I also never bark, though I may alert you in the morning to wake up with a cute howl! I love all dogs and will need one in my forever home to help me gain confidence and teach me the doggy way. I'm a smart boy with love to give, my forever family will fall in love with me quickly guaranteed! This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void. We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Please understand that all of our pets are in foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please email us to confirm attendance. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Emi

    rescue
    Breed: Shiba Inu
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Please contact Masako (saveshibas@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Senior Shiba available! Emi is a sweet, older female Shiba Inu. She gets along with children and all people. She is approx 12 years old. Emi is microchipped, spayed, heart worm negative and current on vaccines. She is crate-trained, house-trained and knows basic commands. She is good with most calm dogs. If you are familiar with this breed, enjoy an active lifestyle and run/walk/hike at least a mile, two times a day, you may be the perfect companion for this gorgeous gal! Unlike most Shibas, this cutie enjoys being held and cuddled. She shows her affection by giving many kisses. The Shiba-Inu is a primitive breed, and a living national monument in their native Japan. They are not very affectionate dogs, but are extremely loyal to their family/owner. Similar to the Japanese Akita because of their appearance and fierce loyalty, Shiba-Inus are a great breed to adopt because they are small-sized dogs that are smart and loyal. They are also known to be escape artists and door-bolters. Adopters who have previously owned or are accustomed to this breed will be considered. If interested in adopting her, please complete an application. Applications: http://www.savingshibasinc.org/application-to-adopt.html Adoption Fee $200.00

    Kiko

    rescue
    Breed: Shiba Inu
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Please contact Masako (saveshibas@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Send us an application for this pretty girl! I am Kiko, a female, red, spayed purebred Shiba Inu. I'm 6 years old and weigh about 19 lbs. I'm a beautiful Shiba girl - a very typical Shiba, and would do best in a home without other dogs and without young children. While I've lived with other dogs, I get bossy when it comes to food or treats. I get upset and excited around cats and squirrels and become vocal. I like to bark, pull on my leash and just go crazy when I see them. I'm easily excited when this happens and I get grumpy when people tell me not to get excited. Because of this reactivity, they say I need a very experienced home to sometimes manage my outbursts. The rescue has been working with me for reactivity and has recently started me on a new medication to mellow me out. They also have been working with a behavior modification trainer for tips on how to manage me. (For more info on reactive dogs, check this link - http://blog.smartanimaltraining.com/2014/04/15/reactivity-and-aggression-in-dogs-managing-and-treating/ I also suffer from seasonal allergies and eat a no grain, no poultry diet. I'm currently eating Evangers White Fish and Venison, but have also eaten Canidae Pure Ocean and Orijen regional red with no issues. From time to time, I might need medications to keep my skin condition controlled. I was rehomed mainly due to the allergies, but also because I have bitten my owners when they try to handle me when I'm very excited. My foster homes have used muzzles on me but no longer need to for daily interactions. When I visit the groomers and vet's offices, I am muzzled for everyone else's safety. They have been correcting me when I snap due to excitement, and working on me so that I'm not so easily excited, but please know that I've been this way for all 6 years of my life, so it's going to be awhile before I don't care about squirrels and cats! We hope that with the new medications, I will be easier to manage and that with behavior modification training, I'll be a brand new dog. When I'm not excited about squirrels, cats, and birds, I enjoy being pet by my family and being nearby and given a lot of attention. What Shiba isn't a Diva?! I'm not very good about being handled by strangers, not very good around other dogs and can be terrible at groomers and vet offices.Applicants should have some familiarity with this breed and be committed to working with her by doing some obedience and behavior modification training. (Adopters will be requested to continue dog training with Crossroads Pet in Stanton, CA - the training has already been prepaid but adopter will be required to continue working with me. They will also be required to continue utilizing the medications if they are helping me be calmer and better behaved.) The rescue will require that I remain on a special diet and request applicants to adhere to that requirement so that I can remain healthy and happy. (Besides, the food tastes pretty good and I love it!) I may also require medications when my allergies flare-up, but currently I haven't been on medications for over four months now. Applicants should have a fenced in yard and walk me daily (I love walks!), or walk me 3-4 times in an apartment. I'm an active gal who loves runs and hikes too! If interested in adopting and committed to working on some of Kiko's bad habits, please complete an application. Behavior modification training in Stanton, CA is required. Medications for allergies as well as her behavior modification will also be required. Applications: http://www.savingshibasinc.org/adopt Adoption Fee $250.00
