Posted Breed: Shih Tzu. Ideal Home- Fenced yard required. Quiet low traffic home works best for Teddy. A family familiar with feeding grain-free food is ideal due to Teddy's history of some food allergies. Meet Teddy, a 3 year old Shih Tzu mix. Teddy is so sweet that if strangers enter the home he will walk up to them and give them a kiss. He is sweet and affectionate and would thrive with someone who loves to cuddle him and give him kisses. He's really a big teddy bear who is just waiting to give his heart and soul to a special person. Teddy loves to run outside in a fenced yard and play with toys. Although he enjoys having other dogs around for company, he would do fine as an only dog. Teddy is used to going in the backyard for potty breaks. He's been known to have a few accidents on the outdoor deck but it's easy enough to clean up and wash off with some soap. Teddy goes on walks but is used to the backyard for most of his breaks out so we're hoping to find him a fenced yard to avoid accidents. Walking him on leash is not a problem but we offer the advice about the yard to ensure a smoother transition since this is what he is used to. He's on a grain free food that helps keep him healthy. Contact us to meet this Teddy Bear. We want to provide as much information about our foster dogs, but sometimes it’s hard to do in the simple dog biography listed above. CHR will list the Ideal Home section to help applicants better understand what the rescue and foster parents are looking for this particular rescue dog’s future home. Please, take a minute to read the Ideal Home section .

More About Shih Tzu Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      rescue
      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (long coat). Ideal home- We are requiring someone home all or part of the day to help Mookie with her house training. A home with wall-to-wall carpeting cannot be considered due to the fact that Mookie will eliminate any fabric floor surfaces. We are also requiring a house with a securely fenced yard to make it easy to let her out frequently for bathroom breaks. An experienced owner is also a must due to all the work involved in housetraining and helping socialize Mookie. Due to her small size, we are only considering all-adult homes. Miss Mookie is a DOLL BABY! ;She is a wee 7-pound bundle of energy and love. She loves to play, play, play all day and explore the big world around her. She’s never met a human or dog that she doesn’t like. She LOVES to be near her humans and will kiss them any chance she gets. She enjoys snuggles and belly rubs and basking in your love and attention. She also loves playing with other dogs and routinely gives her foster brothers and sisters a real workout playing “tag.” Mookie is still working on her housetraining skills and will have indoor accidents daily until fully trained. Please keep this in mind if you are routinely gone for hours and/or have wall-to-wall carpeting or rugs in your home. Mookie's going to need a bit of work in the beginning but we think she is worth the extra effort! We want to provide as much information about our foster dogs as we can, but sometimes it’s hard to do in a short biography. So that applicants can better understand the type of home a specific dog will do best in, we have included the Ideal Home section (see above). Please take a minute to read the Ideal Home section before applying for a dog. Mookie's Application- https://fs8.formsite.com/Caringhearts/form10/index.html

He enjoys playing and romping around the yard. Nugget recently went in for a full check-up. He had a full chemistry, urinalysis, fecal, microchip, full dental and all his shots. Guess what? He's in tip top shape! This little fella is ready for his forever home. Nugget is only 6 pounds. Posted Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Meet Marigold Marigold is a wee little girl only weighting 7-8 pounds. She came to CHR in rough shape but is doing great rehabilitating with her foster parents. Marigold had a full blood chem, urinalysis, fecal and will be going in for a spay and full dental shortly. She also had an eye exam which revealed she has dry eye. This simply means she will need special prescription eye drops needed daily. CHR uses an affordable compounding pharmacy for the drops which we will share with Marigold's adopter. Marigold goes out for a potty break every few hours and is also using pee pads. She is quiet and very gentle with people and other pets. A quiet all adult home would be the best fit for this sweetie. An adopter with prior dog experience is ideal.
