Posted Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). Comet (15 year old NM Husky) and Karma (13 year old SF Husky) – Seeking a forever home. These are the two youngest husky seniors you will ever meet! Sadly, they were surrendered in a divorce and are incredibly bonded so we will only adopt them out to a forever home where they can live out the rest of their years together. Comet is a neutered male, age 15, 54 lbs. Gentle, loving, sweet, easygoing with perfect manners. He enjoys hanging out in the yard, going for car rides and walks on a trail or around the doggie park, doggie day care, and snuggling with his daughter Karma. His health is amazingly good! He takes a twice daily liver support supplement and can jump in and out of the car. His foster mom took him to the doggie chiropractor for an adjustment and he loved how it loosened up his spine, hips, and neck. Karma is a spayed female, age 13, 37 lbs. She is so feisty she doesn't look or act a day over age 3! Karma loves all of the same things that Comet does, as well as running around with her foster mom's younger dogs at the dog park. A few things to know about our little girl: She does have some alpha tendencies and therefore should not live with another dominant dog. She has a mass between her chest and shoulder and is scheduled for surgery on June 20th.. Both have done well around children and cats, seek attention from people, share their food and water bowls, and are very gentle when taking treats. They are housetrained with doggie doors and have currently have 24/7 access to a fenced yard. Same set-up preferred for their new home. Thank you for considering bringing this special pair into your life!

Siberian Husky

A.K.A. : Chukcha, Chuksha
Overview: The Siberian Husky is very similar in looks to the Alaskan Malamute, yet somewhat smaller in build and not quite as bold. Still, he needs a strong-willed owner who will stay in control. This dog loves to roam and explore, so he needs a nice big yard.
Breed Group: Working
Weight (lbs): male: 45-60, female: 35-50
Height (in): male: 21-23.5, female: 20-22
Colors: All colors from black to pure white.
Coat: Coat is double-layered and medium-length. The guard hairs of the outer coat are straight and somewhat smooth lying. The undercoat is soft and dense and of sufficient length.
Character: Siberian Huskies are not particularly good watch dogs, because they want to befriend everyone they meet. They love to roam and are full of energy and independence.
Temperament: This breed gets along well with other Huskies, but they need to be trained carefully if they're to be kept with other household pets. They will not get along with cats or other small animals, though they do well with children.
Care: Its coat needs brushing one or two times a week, daily during periods of heaviest shedding.
Training: This breed is very intelligent and independent. Handlers should take this into consideration and use patience and understanding during training.
Activity: The Siberian Husky needs to be involved in physical activities and requires a well-fenced yard. If they are not kept active, they can be very destructive and noisy.
Country of Origin: Russia
Health Issue: This breed is relatively healthy, but some have heart disease and eye problems, along with dermatitis.
Life Expectancy: 11-13

More About Siberian Husky Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). This is Princess, I call her Blanca. She is 5 years old and UTD on shots. They believe she is an American Bulldog and maybe Lab mix. She needs a family who will shower her with the patience and love she deserves. I’ve fostered this sweet girl for over 6 months. She would really love to find her forever home. Although she is dog reactive she has lived with dogs in the past. With the proper introductions, I believe she would be able to adapt to another dog family member. (No cats). She came from bad circumstances. She was rescued from a rooftop in Tijuana Mexico where she had a litter of puppies without shelter and suffered a terrible sunburn which is why her skin looks so patchy. But it doesn’t bother her at all! She loves to play with toys, she has a giggle ball that she is addicted to. Tug is a favorite game. Her walks are the best part of the day. In the summer, she eats strawberries from the garden and loves to play in her pool. In the winter, she has a super cute coat she wears but refuses to walk if it’s too cold. In the evening when she is tired from playing, she puts herself to bed. She respects baby gates. There are a million other things she does which are doggone adorable. Just look at her playing in her pool all by herself having a great time! https://youtu.be/AJ4bQGtBPSg Put in an application today to meet this incredible wonderful dog!

We know they are a chihuahua mix but we have no idea what they are mixed with. Jarli is a very happy, active little boy. Loves to swim, loves to play ball and plays with his toys. Just a tad bit shy and loves to cuddle. He is very laid back little guy. Sorry no children under 8 for this wee one as he is afraid of them. He is a normal happy little guy just looking for his forever home!

Posted Breed: Pomeranian / Miniature Pinscher / Mixed (short coat). Demi is a 3.5yo (we gave her a birthday of 8/11/2014.) Her foster did a DNA and here are her results... 25% Min Pin (no surprise) 25% Pomeranian 12.5 % Chihuahua 12.5% Chinese Crested 12.5% Toy Fox Terrier 12.5 % Mixed breed terrier, sporting, companion mix. WOW is that a mix or what!? She is super sweet and cute ---Demi is a sweet small dog that would love to find a home that knows how to keep small dogs safe in this big world. She is great with dogs, seems to be completely "cat blind" in that she ignores our cats even when they sit touching her, she's friendly to everyone. Only barks at meal time when she wants me to hurry up and to go outside. She has good potty behavior. She loves loves loves her blankets! Every night my husband tucks her in by holding up a blanket over her bed. She runs to it and he drops it over her. She sleeps completely covered up all night. She also crawls under blankets all by herself. Super cute! Her only issue is food aggression, she needs to be fed separate from other pets so she can enjoy her meals. Also due to her tiny size and her inability to tell tiny fingers from luscious treats no tiny tots for this little girl. Put in an application today.

      Brannon (m) ...

      Breed: Beagle-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Baby
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Beagle / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Cara and Brannon! They’re a bonded sibling pair looking to be adopted together. They’re a (mostly) Manchester Terrier/Beagle mix pair along with lots of other stuff…lol. Cara is 37 pounds and Brannon is 40 pounds. Brannon plays “big brother” to Cara. Cara is the instigator for most silliness and Brannon has provided a calming presence and sense of security for her as she comes into her own. They’re energetic and super curious so are the first to investigate any activity in the house or yard, keep on eye as to where foster brother and sis are, chase squirrels, play chase, play with their toys (they enjoy chasing tennis balls that are thrown low and fast) and play with foster bro and sis or they’re out for the count taking a nap. They enjoy curling up with their humans at the end of the day. No cats! In the morning, they assure that everyone (canine and human alike) have their share of doggy kisses. They need gentle introductions to unfamiliar dogs as unfamiliar dogs or dog groups are still a little overwhelming to them. Some nutritional and lifestyle accommodations must be made for Brannon who has elbow dysplasia. They know their basic commands and enjoy car rides but do need to be on leash for walks—true to their terrier nature, searching out wildlife and interesting wildlife smells could be too tempting. They still make their cute little play sounds as they play with each other when they’re settling down for quiet play or in the morning as they’re waking up. These play sounds initially shocked their dog foster siblings to where they didn’t know if to go check on Brannon and Cara or just run…lol.

      Boomer

      rescue
      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This is Boomer, he is 8yo (we gave him an estimated birthday of 6/21/21009) and he is about 15 pounds. He graduated from K9 State of Mind Training classes, this was a 30-day live in course with lots of other dogs, handling and good manners. He is a terrier mix (he might have a little Chihuahua in there.) He is a complicated little guy. In his whole life I don't think he has ever caught a break. He certainly hasn't known any love. No, I think instead of receiving love, he has received the worst that life could offer him. His muzzle shows the scars of what I'm guessing was bigger dogs biting down on him. Luckily, no permanent physical damage was done. But emotionally, he is afraid of larger dogs, and because of this, he is always on the defensive. If a larger dog comes near, he is growling and ready to defend himself. Because of this, he is suited to a home where he is the only dog, or where the other dog is no larger than he is. Basically, I think Boomer has spent his entire life fighting to survive. Somewhere along the way he forgot about the fun parts of being a dog. Now, he is just re-learning how to play. He may be going on his very first walks - ever. He is learning manners, and he has learned that treats are really cool things, and doing what we ask gets him treats! He has the nap thing down perfect - he fits right in with our older dogs - they nap most of the time. My guess is he never had a chance to nap before; he was always scrounging for food and a place to sleep. I mentioned Boomer didn't receive love. Actually, I think at one point he might have had his own human. But for whatever reason, Boomer feels that his human rejected him. Whether they abandoned him, or abused him, we will never know. But now Boomer finds it extremely hard to trust - anyone. He does a little better with women than with men. But he doesn't like to be touched. It took almost an entire week before we could touch him enough to put a leash on and off of him. Another 3-4 days and we were able to rub his head. But he is not fond of belly rubs. Someday I'm sure that will change; but for right now, his head and neck is where he is most comfortable being touched. There is some PTSD, and maybe some flashbacks. He isn't aggressive - but he is totally ready to defend himself. For this reason, I'm recommending a forever home with no children. Boomer needs a new family where someone is home with him most of the time. He needs a new family that will give him oodles of time to learn to trust again. And most of all, right now he needs a family who can be content to love him on his terms. He won't be sitting on your lap, but he will lay in his bed at your feet. He won't come begging for attention, but he will sit up if you ask, and he will sit nicely and wait for his food, and he will sit at a doorway and not try to rush through it. If you have lots of patience, and extra love to spare, Boomer and you need to spend the rest of your lives together. Boomer has been on an epic journey to recovery; and he only has a little more to travel and he will be an amazing companion. But you will need to spend some time with him before you can take him home with you. He needs some level of confidence that he knows you before he leaves his foster home. Put in an application today.

Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). All people inquiring about pets listed as Courtesy Listings on the EAPL website and/or EAPL posting adoption boards should contact the current pet owner/rescue/shelter for answers to any questions and for final approval and placement. Please DO NOT CONTACT EAPL about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc. Interested persons should email me at sjgilb7878@gmail.com Cloey is a mix, certainly some shepherd, maybe boxer, maybe ridgeback, maybe chow. She was eight years old in September of 2016. She was raised from a pup by my grandson and his ex-wife. Their divorce resulted in her being abandoned with me a year and a half ago. She is affectionate to the point of wanting to sit in my lap. She can't wait for a tummy rub when I come home. When I am home she follows me everywhere. She is extremely loyal and a good watch dog. She loves walks, which I am not able to manage very often, and she loves to play with toys. She needs an active owner who can spend lots of time with her and see that she gets proper exercise. She is very good off leash. She seems to me to be very intelligent, learning quickly what my requirements are. Cloey has some negative traits, as well. She can easily scale a six foot fence or higher. Thus I have to crate her long hours when I am at work so my beagle can have access to a pet door. The crate is also necessary because she can almost always find something to get into and tear up, whether a low placed tissue box or a box of plastic wrap left out on the kitchen counter. The objects of her interest go far beyond the category of food. She likes to dig little holes (divits) all over the back yard, so her front paws are usually dirty and of course she tracks the dirt inside. She has a tendency to jump up (very strong, grasping front legs) thus an authoritarian "Down" must often be employed to save ones arms and legs from bruises. She grew up using the bed and the furniture as she pleased and is still learning her manners in that regard. Cloey has improved dramatically in her behaviors and proves herself to be a loving, playful pet. She does fine with other dogs, but prefers people. Interested persons should email me at sjgilb7878@gmail.com and tell me what it is about Cloey that interests them and describe the kind of environment she would be living in. Include a phone number and I will call if I believe it could be a suitable match.

Bruno is his name and he’s tall and athletic.. goes about 50 -60 lbs. and also goes about 30 miles an hour. He’s also very uneducated to the nuances of the world In a wonderful way.. taking a treat from our hand for the first time was like discovering chocolate or the way he looks up all the time in wonder.. birds planes tree branches. It’s hard to take your eyes off of him. If you had to go on personality and wisdom you’d peg him at 9 months.. we’re guessing 2- 2 1/2 yrs. old. When we walk I get so proud of his restraint. He has the ability to bound down the sidewalk with my arm attached to the leash but in reality you get these tiny little tugs due to his head turning at every mammal insect reptile and fauna.. it’s very entertaining. Other dogs are very new and fascinating to Bruno and he gets very excited to play as hard as he possibly can. He has made a friend.. acquaintance with our cat.. some good sniffs and a carry on.. and that was that. This is a special guy."

Please DO NOT CONTACT EAPL about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc. Hi! I’m Mesa. I’m an amazing female Cattle Dog mix (best guess) near 7 yrs old. I’m really smart, I learn anything quickly and know many commands. I’m a super sweet and happy girl. In fact my tail rarely stops wagging. I love being outside, patrolling the yard or sunbathing on the deck. But I can enjoy being inside, hanging with my person, leaning on her making sure she doesn’t slack on the ear scratches. I have a lot of energy so I like playing ball in the yard. Walking on a leash is a bit of challenge because I don’t get along with other dogs but I continue to work on this. In fact this is why my mom is so heartbroken that she must look for a new home for me. Her plan was always to be my forever home but I no longer get along with my doggie housemate, I have to be kept separate from him. We made strides in conditioning and impulse control with the help of professionals, but had to make the difficult decision that I need to be the only pet in the household. I shouldn’t be with any other dogs, cats etc. I’ve never been around children so the best home for me would have no small children. If I don’t say so myself, I’m a wonderful dog and I know I will thrive in the perfect home and will make a great companion to someone who is willing to take the time to build that forever bond. Are you the one for me, and me for you? Hope so! Please contact Lori & Mesa @ 303-726-2396

If you sit, he just wants to sit with you but, if you are going to walk or take a car ride he is the first to ask if he can come along. He is super friendly to every person he meets and gets along well with every large, small, male or female dog and, even the “no so dog loving” cat. Scooter has perfect housebreaking manners and even knows his basic obedience commands. You can certainly tell that for the majority of his like he was somebody’s everything. She was transferred to us from a shelter where she was on the euthanize list they thought she had an injury and maybe had a broken leg. But once we had her evaluated at the vet we learned she was born with a deformed spine and has spina bifida. She had a leg that she dragged and unfortunately we had to make a decision to amputate he her for her health as it was always getting infected form the dragging. She is a total cuddle bug and just buries her head into your chest and holds onto you and won't let go. She is very quiet and loves anyone and any attention. She has clearly been very neglected:( She is super friendly with other dogs and doesn't even growl at the big dogs that think she is a mouse and try to eat her lol! She loves to sleep in her baby play pen too. Since she has spina bifida, she is incontinent (fecal and urine) and will need to wear a diaper for the rest of her life. It really won't impact her life in any other way. If you would love a cuddly, sweet, baby (who actually sleeps in a play pen and wears diapers) Min is the girl for you. She will have a long and wonderful life when she meet the family ready to give her that chance. To meet her, put in an app today!
