Posted Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). Comet (15 year old NM Husky) and Karma (13 year old SF Husky) – Seeking a forever home. These are the two youngest husky seniors you will ever meet! Sadly, they were surrendered in a divorce and are incredibly bonded so we will only adopt them out to a forever home where they can live out the rest of their years together. Comet is a neutered male, age 15, 54 lbs. Gentle, loving, sweet, easygoing with perfect manners. He enjoys hanging out in the yard, going for car rides and walks on a trail or around the doggie park, doggie day care, and snuggling with his daughter Karma. His health is amazingly good! He takes a twice daily liver support supplement and can jump in and out of the car. His foster mom took him to the doggie chiropractor for an adjustment and he loved how it loosened up his spine, hips, and neck. Karma is a spayed female, age 13, 37 lbs. She is so feisty she doesn't look or act a day over age 3! Karma loves all of the same things that Comet does, as well as running around with her foster mom's younger dogs at the dog park. A few things to know about our little girl: She does have some alpha tendencies and therefore should not live with another dominant dog. She has a mass between her chest and shoulder and is scheduled for surgery on June 20th.. Both have done well around children and cats, seek attention from people, share their food and water bowls, and are very gentle when taking treats. They are housetrained with doggie doors and have currently have 24/7 access to a fenced yard. Same set-up preferred for their new home. Thank you for considering bringing this special pair into your life!

Siberian Husky

A.K.A. : Chukcha, Chuksha
Overview: The Siberian Husky is very similar in looks to the Alaskan Malamute, yet somewhat smaller in build and not quite as bold. Still, he needs a strong-willed owner who will stay in control. This dog loves to roam and explore, so he needs a nice big yard.
Breed Group: Working
Weight (lbs): male: 45-60, female: 35-50
Height (in): male: 21-23.5, female: 20-22
Colors: All colors from black to pure white.
Coat: Coat is double-layered and medium-length. The guard hairs of the outer coat are straight and somewhat smooth lying. The undercoat is soft and dense and of sufficient length.
Character: Siberian Huskies are not particularly good watch dogs, because they want to befriend everyone they meet. They love to roam and are full of energy and independence.
Temperament: This breed gets along well with other Huskies, but they need to be trained carefully if they're to be kept with other household pets. They will not get along with cats or other small animals, though they do well with children.
Care: Its coat needs brushing one or two times a week, daily during periods of heaviest shedding.
Training: This breed is very intelligent and independent. Handlers should take this into consideration and use patience and understanding during training.
Activity: The Siberian Husky needs to be involved in physical activities and requires a well-fenced yard. If they are not kept active, they can be very destructive and noisy.
Country of Origin: Russia
Health Issue: This breed is relatively healthy, but some have heart disease and eye problems, along with dermatitis.
Life Expectancy: 11-13

More About Siberian Husky Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Cloey - Cour...

      rescue
      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). All people inquiring about pets listed as Courtesy Listings on the EAPL website and/or EAPL posting adoption boards should contact the current pet owner/rescue/shelter for answers to any questions and for final approval and placement. Please DO NOT CONTACT EAPL about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc. Interested persons should email me at sjgilb7878@gmail.com Cloey is a mix, certainly some shepherd, maybe boxer, maybe ridgeback, maybe chow. She was eight years old in September of 2016. She was raised from a pup by my grandson and his ex-wife. Their divorce resulted in her being abandoned with me a year and a half ago. She is affectionate to the point of wanting to sit in my lap. She can't wait for a tummy rub when I come home. When I am home she follows me everywhere. She is extremely loyal and a good watch dog. She loves walks, which I am not able to manage very often, and she loves to play with toys. She needs an active owner who can spend lots of time with her and see that she gets proper exercise. She is very good off leash. She seems to me to be very intelligent, learning quickly what my requirements are. Cloey has some negative traits, as well. She can easily scale a six foot fence or higher. Thus I have to crate her long hours when I am at work so my beagle can have access to a pet door. The crate is also necessary because she can almost always find something to get into and tear up, whether a low placed tissue box or a box of plastic wrap left out on the kitchen counter. The objects of her interest go far beyond the category of food. She likes to dig little holes (divits) all over the back yard, so her front paws are usually dirty and of course she tracks the dirt inside. She has a tendency to jump up (very strong, grasping front legs) thus an authoritarian "Down" must often be employed to save ones arms and legs from bruises. She grew up using the bed and the furniture as she pleased and is still learning her manners in that regard. Interested persons should email me at sjgilb7878@gmail.com and tell me what it is about Cloey that interests them and describe the kind of environment she would be living in. Include a phone number and I will call if I believe it could be a suitable match.

Please DO NOT CONTACT EAPL about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc. Hi! I’m Mesa. I’m an amazing 6 yr. old Cattle Dog mix, at least that’s everyone’s best guess based on my beautiful markings. And I definitely have their trademark smarts, ‘cuz it doesn’t take me long to learn anything. For instance, I’m a pro at Sit, Wait, Stay, Drop It, Leave It and Lie Down. My human uses really tasty treats that motivate me and I love those! I’m a super sweet and happy girl. In fact my tail rarely stops wagging. I love being outside and patrolling the yard, taking the occasional break to sunbath on the desk. I could spend hours out there in nice weather. At those times I’m a pretty independent dog and I may check in through the doggie door just to make sure I’m not missing anything, but I don’t need to be attached at my human’s hip. When I’m inside, though I’m probably nearby just because I like her company. And in the evening when things wind down, that’s when I’m especially cuddly. There’s a rumor a lot of dogs don’t like to be hugged but I get tummy scratches during a hug so there cool with me! I think my person hugs me because I’ll just lean on her legs forever and gaze at her while she tickles my ears. I’m too cute not to. And I make sure to let her know if she slacks off on the tickles with a nose nudge. My human mom is heartbroken that she must look for a new home for me. Her plan was for her to be my forever home so she never imagined anything different. You see, I no longer get alone with my doggie housemate. My person has worked with lots of experts but hey, I just can’t see my doggie sibling like I used to: as my playmate and friend. So despite making strides in conditioning and impulse control, I’ll need to be the only pet in my next home---no other dogs, cats, rabbits, squirrels, mice, birds … as I have quite the prey drive for a few of those things. After all, they’re just too fascinating! I’ve never been around children so the bestest home for me would have no little kids, toddlers or babies. I’m a very active girl so patience is a must as it takes a while for me to wind down. Earlier in the 2016 I tore a ligament in my knee and had surgery to correct it, something called TPLO. Although my new person(s) will need to keep an eye on my “good” knee, you’d really never know my hurt knee was ever hurt! If I don’t say so myself, I’m a wonderful dog and I know I will thrive in the perfect home and will make a great companion to someone who is willing to take the time to build that forever bond. Are you the one for me, and me for you? Hope so! Please contact Lori $ Mesa @ 303-726-2396

Posted Breed: Beagle / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Brannon and Cara would like to be adopted together - The DNA results are in and they are Beagle/Toy Manchester Terrier/Yorkshire Terrier Mix and lots of other fun stuff! We have the DNA test results from one of the sisters that we can send out to you. Brannon (Irish for lil raven) seems appropriate with his color :) - Brannon is an active 37 pound pup. Cara is a sweet lil 29 pound pup. Fyi Cara is the light blue harness. Meet Brannon and Cara ready to report for adventure and find their forever home! They know the basic commands, love their leashed walks and hikes, enjoy visiting canine friendly stores and outdoor malls. At home, Cara and Brannon enjoy chasing tennis balls that you throw fast and low, keeping the squirrels out of the yard (must be the terrier in them), tossing around their toys, playing with their big foster siblings and you-and of course nap time! They alert appropriately to odd noises or situations and stop when acknowledged. They're great at stairs and elevators, meeting new dogs (with a gentle introduction), and enjoy meeting new people. Coffee shops are a bit boring to them right now but they're working on being patient. Brannon and Cara are a darling lil pair that rely on each other. She relies on him for courage and he relies on her to instigate the silliness. In the morning, they make sure that all, human and canine alike, have their fair share of doggy kisses. At night, they curl up into a little dog ball to sleep or at the very least they need to touch. They have their own cute little play sounds that they make when they're playing with each other before bedtime or before nap time-foster sibs weren't sure if to check on them or run the first few times they heard it...lol. Put in an application today for this adorable pair on small to medium size dogs!

Just a tad bit shy and loves to cuddle. He is very laid back little guy. Sorry no children under 8 for this wee one as he is afraid of them. He is a normal happy little guy just looking for his forever home!

She needs to be supervised so the animals do not get her. She is super sweet and cute --- check out her curly little pig's tail wonder what is in her to give her that! Put in an application today.

Please DO NOT CONTACT EAPL about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc. Burt is a 3 year old neutered male catahoula. He is current on vaccinations and weighs in at about 100lbs. Burt is a wonderful, loving, smart dog who needs the perfect home. He was rescued off of death row from a shelter in Texas and since has been working on his commands and basic obedience. He is extremely smart and very eager to please. He loves all people but attaches to one master and takes direction best from that person he sees as alpha. Burt is a trained hunting dog who just needs a refresher course, non reactive to livestock and is an excellent guard dog. He has no fear and loves to be loved. He needs a lot of attention and exercise and does best when is given a task. He is potty trained and completely non destructive unless he smells something yummy in the trash. He would be an excellent companion and hunting buddy. Burts only negative is he is very dog aggressive especially towards male dogs. He can learn to behave himself around the ladies but would ultimately prefer to be the only dog to soak up all the love an attention. He does resource guard which has led us to believe he is best suited in a family with no small children who may be up in his grill. He needs lots of space, exercise and a firm yet gentle leader. If left up to him he will take charge of situations and can be stubborn. All in all he is an amazing dog, whomever is lucky enough to call this dog their own has a loyal, loving companion for life. Scooter is the very definition of a companion animal. This sweet, loving boy wants nothing more than to be with his person. If you sit, he just wants to sit with you but, if you are going to walk or take a car ride he is the first to ask if he can come along. He is super friendly to every person he meets and gets along well with every large, small, male or female dog and, even the “no so dog loving” cat. Scooter has perfect housebreaking manners and even knows his basic obedience commands. You can certainly tell that for the majority of his like he was somebody’s everything. He would be a great only pet or, would do very well with other animals who don’t mind sharing their person. Put in an application today.

Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Mixed (short coat). Trudy is a min pin x and is about 6lbs. Her birthday is estimated at 4/10/2015. She was transferred to us from a shelter where she was on the euthanize list they thought she had an injury and maybe had a broken leg. But once we had her evaluated at the vet we learned she was born with a deformed spine and has spina bifida. She had a leg that she dragged and unfortunately we had to make a decision to amputate he her for her health as it was always getting infected form the dragging. She is a total cuddle bug and just buries her head into your chest and holds onto you and won't let go. She is very quiet and loves anyone and any attention. She has clearly been very neglected:( She is super friendly with other dogs and doesn't even growl at the big dogs that think she is a mouse and try to eat her lol! She loves to sleep in her baby play pen too. Since she has spina bifida, she is incontinent (fecal and urine) and will need to wear a diaper for the rest of her life. It really won't impact her life in any other way. If you would love a cuddly, sweet, baby (who actually sleeps in a play pen and wears diapers) Min is the girl for you. She will have a long and wonderful life when she meet the family ready to give her that chance. To meet her, put in an app today!

She needs a family who will shower her with the patience and love she deserves. I’ve fostered this sweet girl for over 6 months. She would really love to find her forever home. Although she is dog reactive she has lived with dogs in the past. With the proper introductions, I believe she would be able to adapt to another dog family member. (No cats). She came from bad circumstances. She was rescued from a rooftop in Tijuana Mexico where she had a litter of puppies without shelter and suffered a terrible sunburn which is why her skin looks so patchy. But it doesn’t bother her at all! She loves to play with toys, she has a giggle ball that she is addicted to. Tug is a favorite game. Her walks are the best part of the day. In the summer, she eats strawberries from the garden and loves to play in her pool. In the winter, she has a super cute coat she wears but refuses to walk if it’s too cold. In the evening when she is tired from playing, she puts herself to bed. She respects baby gates. There are a million other things she does which are doggone adorable. Just look at her playing in her pool all by herself having a great time! https://youtu.be/AJ4bQGtBPSg Put in an application today to meet this incredible wonderful dog!
