Posted Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat). Motley was brought to the shelter by city workers when he was found running loose. He is a precious Staffie who was just terrified when he arrived at the shelter. He quickly warmed up to staff and turned into a big wiggly lovebug! Motley is about 1.5 years old and weighs 45 lbs. He has been neutered. Motley does not care for children (they make him nervous) and should not go to a home with children under 16. He appears to ignore cats and he seems afraid of other dogs so he would probably be most comfortable with other submissive animals or be the only pet. Motley has been through a lot in his short life and would thrive in a stable, secure home filled with love. As scared as he was, he never attempted to bite staff, but any animal who has been through trauma should be treated with patience and gentleness. Motley has already shown he will repay kindness with lots of love and kisses!! Motley's adoption fee is only $60. Unless otherwise stated, the adoption fee for dogs over 4 months is $120.00. Puppies under 4 months are $140.00 The adoption fee includes the animal's surgery, microchip, vaccinations, flea preventative, deworming medication, sample bag of food/treat samples and a free first exam with participating veterinarians. Shelter policy is that all animals must be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter. Our shelter is open to the public on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm and other times by appointment. If you would like to make an appointment to meet one of our many adoptable animals, please send an email to us at pvchs@joink.com. To apply to adopt, you may download an adoption application from the Applications and Fees tab on our website. The web address is www.pvchs.cfsites.org. Please email the completed application to pvchs@joink.com.

More About Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      rescue
      Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Beau was brought to the shelter after he had been a neighborhood stray for awhile. Beau is a very sweet lab mix who is about 4 years old and weighs 56 lbs. He is up to date on vaccines and has been neutered and completely treated for heartworms. Beau can climb fences, so he would need a home with a lunge line or electric fence to keep him contained or simply room to run. Once Beau bonds to you, he sticks right by you and is your constant companion. He is a good protector (was in a home for several days, bonded to the family and growled at strangers that would approach their truck) so he is an awesome dog who would adore being a loved family member. Please rescue sweet Beau, he has been here for months! His adoption fee is only $40!! Wow! **Beau does well with children over 10 years old. Younger children make him nervous and he will bark or grumble at them. He is NOT aggressive but we want everyone in the home to be comfortable, including Beau** Unless otherwise stated, the adoption fee for dogs over 4 months is $120.00. Puppies under 4 months are $140.00 The adoption fee includes the animal's surgery, microchip, vaccinations, flea preventative, deworming medication, sample bag of food/treat samples and a free first exam with participating veterinarians. Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Tiffany was found as a stray and brought to the shelter from another shelter that euthanizes for space and bully breeds are the first to go. Tiffany is a very sweet but scared/insecure girl who needs a home that will help heal her traumatized heart. She is nervous about body handling so should not go to a home with children. Teenagers and adults would be fine. She does not react to the other dogs here so we think she would be tolerant of other dogs but we do recommend a meet and greet first if she is to live with other dogs. Tiffany has been through a lot in her 2.5 years that taught her the world is not always a kind place. We hope she can find a family that will change her mind. Tiffany is current on vaccines, weighs 58 lbs and will be spayed before going home. Please contact the shelter for details today! Her adoption fee is only $60.
