Posted Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). You can meet Madison Saturday at Petco from 1-5 located at 4001 W. Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington Texas (contact us prior to Saturdays to confirm) Hi, I'm MADISON (but you can call me Maddie or Sunny, as long as you also call me YOURS). I'm an American Staffordshire Terrier / Pyrenean Shepherd mix (and I have the DNA test to prove it), which means my love of playing 'fetch' was literally bred into me. I love to run and jump up into the air to catch a ball, and most of the time, I'm happy to give it back to you to throw again. My foster-family says I'd be awesome at flyball. Well, I jump so high it's like flying, and it's a word that has 'ball' in it, so they're probably right. When I'm not playing fetch, I love to cuddle on the couch while you're watching TV or reading. Give me a bone to gnaw (I'm fond of those rawhide 'retriever rolls' even though I'm not a retriever), and I'll lie at your feet with it 'til it's gone. AmStaff's are often used as watchdogs, which is great for me because I love to watch things. Specifically, I like to watch squirrels, and consider it my special task to prevent the Squirrel Invasion. Those floofy-tailed monsters won't come near you when I'm on alert. Despite my constant vigilance, I don't really bark a lot, though, so you don't have to worry about me annoying the neighbors. At almost three years old and about 60 pounds, I'm still incredibly active and playful, but I’ve long since grown out of all those annoying puppy habits people often worry about. I'm crate trained, but I also have excellent house manners. I'm very clean, I'm already spayed, I've got a microchip (which my foster-mom insists is a tracking device and NOT a kind of food) and I'm up-to-date on all my shots. I'd prefer to be your only dog – let's face it: this much awesome should NOT have to compete for your attention – but if you have a male dog already, I'll probably get along fine with him. I'm kind of a diva though, so no other female dogs, please, and I'm not a fan of cats (What? You're not supposed to chase them??) either. KIDS on the other hand make me happy…I look forward to teaching them how to play fetch. I'm told that my breeds are known for being owner-oriented, incredibly loyal, and kind of stoic (I think that means calm). If you've seen me at adoptions, you probably know I don't 'show' well when I'm crated. I promise, I'm a completely different dog if you take me OUT of my crate, so please don't be shy. I've been with my foster-family for over a year, and I love them, and they love me, but I'd really love it even more if I had a forever family of my VERY OWN. Her adoption includes all vaccinations, worming, rabies vaccination, spay, heartworm neg, microchip including registration with a 2wk health guarantee. Contact her foster family if you have any questions about Maddie: Phone: 214-543-5889 Email: missmelysse@gmail.com If you are interested please complete our online application at www.shelter2rescue.petfinder.com

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Italian Greyhuahua
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: Arlington, TX
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Italian Greyhound / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Louisa (adoptions@shelter2rescue.org) for more information about this pet. Don’t let Marsh’s shyness fool you; he is an active, happy little dog that will thrive once he gets to know you and you get to know him. He is 1yr 10 month old, weighing 1-10lbs.He adores other dogs and must be placed in a home with an active dog or two. Once he’s finished playing he wants nothing more than to sit close to you so you can give him a scratch or a pat. He needs a home that can provide him with a regular schedule since he is still young; think of him as a 5-year-old boy that might need to be reminded to do his chores on occasion. He is crate trained and goes into his crate at night or when his foster parents need to leave the house. He loves squishy dog beds and lots of doggy blankets to cover up with at night, and he will cover himself up when it’s time to go to sleep. He loves to play with toys and his foster brothers; often crying for his foster brothers if he is separated from them for too long, so please consider him if you have an active dog at home that needs someone to play with. Marsh wants nothing more than to be loved forever by a family he can call his own. He is a bright light that has shined a bit of sunshine in his foster family’s home. His adoption includes age appropriate vaccinations, worming, rabies vaccination, neuter, and microchip including registration..If you are interested please complete our online application at www.shelter2rescue.petfinder.com

      Age: Adult
      Location: Arlington, TX
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). COURTESY POSTING Fully vetted & heartworm negative DB is a great companion, she love people, and has been great with children. She is currently living outside. The male Pit Bull she was living with, was adopted 8/7/16. It is uncertain how she would be with a female dog. DB has bee n inside the house and when she is inside, she has never had an accident. She is great in the crate. She is good on a leash but pulls a bit and likes to be the leader. She sits on command. DB was found by a young couple in East Fort Worth. A man in the neighborhood claimed to be her owner but told them he did not want her anymore. The young couple are fostering her until she finds a home. They can't bare the thought of DB going to the shelter and possibly not making it out alive. Her adoption fee is $100, this reimburses for the cost of her spay, heartworm test, de-wormer, rabies vaccination, distemper/parvo vaccination and bordatella. She is heartworm negative and currently on heartworm prevention. CONTACT: Gayla ggwiths2r@gmail.com If you are interested please complete our online application at www.shelter2rescue.petfinder.com

I'm good with other dogs, too. It's gotta be age discrimination 'cause there's no other reason for not having my permanent home yet. I'm past all of that puppy nonsense and I have a great personality thanks to my awesome genetics. My chocolate coat is short and easy to maintain. I won't be offended if you call me a "pretty boy" 'cause it's the truth. I'm easy-going and ready for excessive cuddling. My foster mom says I'm a typical man. Feed me (when you eat), let me watch TV (with you), don't nag me about cutting the grass (unless you figure out how to adapt a riding mower for me, then we can discuss). I was living on the streets before the rescue people took me in. I really want someone to want me. Shower me with love and affection and I'll reciprocate 10x over!
