Posted Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound (short coat). Animal Details at www.ARKsaves.com. Still a regal pup at heart! 8 FREE GROUP DOG TRAINING SESSIONS WITH OUR DOG WHISPERER/TRAINER DONATION $ 75 Gorgeous, 1 year old, full of life and love. I'm well behaved, absolutely require a fenced yard and I'm extremely energetic. If you know this breed you'll understand why. I have a brother Sam and we're sad we'll be separated and have to go to different homes. Our family can't keep us anymore. I know some commands and am quite a gentleman but still a puppy for sure. I like to play catch and like to be chased and am crate trained. But our breed doesn't need to stay in a kennel for very long. We're too energetic and that would be cruel. I don't like anyone putting their face directly in mine for some weird reason but that can be trained. Once I go to bed please just leave me alone - I'm tired. Emotional Support Animals (ESA) Emotional Support Animals are not required to undergo specialized training. They can be dogs, cats, exotics, birds. Their primary role is to provide their owners with emotional comfort. Emotional support animals can benefit a disabled individual psychologically. The basic gift of companionship and unconditional affection can be the therapy needed to counter a condition like debilitating depression or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. ESAs are protected under the Fair Housing Amendments Act (FHAA) and the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA). People meeting the proper criteria are entitled to an ESA to assist them with life. The FHAA protects individuals by allowing ESAs to live with them regardless of breed (even with no pet policies). The ACAA protects individuals by allowing ESAs to fly with them in the cabin of an airplane without having to pay additional fees. ESAs are not required to be professionally trained. An owner can train the pet. However a letter of need written by a mental health counselor will be required. More About Treeing Walker Coonhound Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

I'm around 4 and weigh 68 pounds so I'm not a little tyke. I'd make a great watch dog too. I'm okay with big doggies but not small dogs or cats. I know simple commands and walk great on a lead. I'll do fine with children and would like a fenced yard so I can romp and play when I'm not lounging on your couch or in your bed or trying to get in your lap to watch TV!! I weigh around 24 pounds, so really do need to lose a few. I get along great with everyone, need people, but little children will make me nervous. NO KIDS PLEASE. I am well mannered, love being petted and brushed, enjoy car rides, walks on a leash, and in general being adored and loved. My mom is so sad to have to give me up but she's moving in with a family who won't allow me to come. I don't like people that stand quickly or move toward me quickly, especially men. So ARK believes I was abused by a previous owner and the family I just left also agrees. It seems that also I might have been abused by older children as well. Healthy, lovable and in need. Won't you come rescue me? I'd make a great ESA because I like people so much and need them to be with me. I like hanging out with a human, I'm not a loner. And I'm handsome and very smart. FULLY VETTED - FREE DOG TRAINING CLASSES IN VOLUSIA COUNTY DONATION $ 75 MY STORY: I'm a sweetheart, saved from being killed at the shelter. Thank goodness. I'm 1-2 years old and weigh around 60 lbs. I'm learning that I can trust again and I'm going to be safe and loved. Isn't that what humans need too? Now read what my savior says about me! MY TRAINER'S STORY ABOUT ME! Bruce is a dog who knows how to put a smile on your face and fill your heart with joy. He is famous for his heart-melting “hugs” where he gets up on your lap, gives you kisses and closes his eyes while you pet his soft fur. THAT is heaven for Bruce. He has so much love for life and wants to announce it to the world- “WOO WOOOOO!” he exclaims out of enthusiasm. As much as he loves to snuggle, he also sometimes yearns to let out his energy running and playing! He is super smart and even passed his Canine Good Citizen test. He does have some dog reactivity and he will require simple ongoing handling techniques. Bruce doesn't seem to get along with dogs and we are not sure about cats. He could go to a home with kids over 12 years old. Bruce knows heel, sit, down, stay, come, wait, and leave it. He is crate trained and is perfect riding in the car. He is really relaxed around the house, just wanting to give you hugs and kisses or quietly laying around and taking naps. Bruce has that kind of love that really fills your soul with joy - even when you are away from him, you will feel that string connecting his heart to yours. He is very loyal and will become very attached to his "person", as will you to him. There is nothing that Bruce wants more than to just be close to you. He promises to enrich your life very deeply make you really proud. Bruce is currently in Land O Lakes, Florida. He is ready to go home with you TODAY! I do like to chase cats though and lizards. So no small furry creatures, whether little dogs or kitties. My breeds are high intelligence, excellent for bonding, and giving immense consolation and attention. I'm about 1.5 years old, weigh 57 pounds, am well behaved and enjoy just hanging out with my foster. Give me a ball and I'll chase it. Give me a leash and take me for a walk and I'll do great. Car rides are so much fun too!! And hive me some kids so I can sleep with them. I need a fenced yard because I have lots of energy and need to use it up. Leash walks alone won't work. There's no exercise in that for sure!! I like being inside lounging on soft furniture. though I'm still a pup at heart there rings within me the life of Riley and laziness! Most importantly though, I LOVE TO GIVE HUGS. Yes dogs hug; cats hug. Birds bite! I'll be your perfect companion for the rest of my life. I need a family without children and lots of love. 8 FREE GROUP DOG TRAINING SESSIONS DONATION $ 75 I was abused by my previous owner, hit around the head our dog trainer says because I shy away form hands. Also I became overprotective of the other people in the house, possibly because I hoped they wouldn't also be mistreated. I need a quiet family, possibly a single or couple, no children because I may snap at them since I've been mistreated. I need solitude and lots of love. I'm a little over a year old full of happiness, handsome, and sweet. I'm still a puppy and puppies need special care. They need lots of patience and exercise, a fenced yard for me a must. I run like the wind - that's my breed. I bet I can outrun you too! One of my favorite times of day is getting popcorn in the evenings. I enjoy snuggles on the couch and think I'm a lap dog. I love massages and having my velvet soft ears rubbed. I also love to chase my cat. She turns and hisses at me and runs. I don't then go after her to try to kill her. But it could be scary.... I'm extremely strong also and need someone who is also strong! And willing to work with my fantastic personality and energy!! A fenced yard is mandatory for me because of my boundless puppy energy. I love people and I'll love you just the way you are. You can see it in my eyes. You can feel it when I rub up against your legs with my squiggly body and frantically wagging tail. When I get a toy I prance around with it, so joyful and proud. I'm quite handsome with my sculpted physique and exaggerated overbite: regal and comical. My charming personality is sure to make me the center of attention. I don't do well with cats or dogs so I'll need to be your one and only. But you surely won't be sorry adopting me. Fee: $75 MY STORY: I'm one of the friendliest dog you will ever meet. I’m big and strong but I’ll admit it- I’m really a big baby. I want nothing more than to spend time with you. I love everyone I meet. I will probably get along with certain dogs, too! Some of my favorite things include laying in the sun, turning sticks into wood chips , taking naps, and going on car rides. I already know the commands Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, and Leave It. I am a very good boy. I get so excited to meet new people that I may jump and get mouthy, but I am working on containing my excitement! I would do best in a home without small children. I love to get out my energy "rocket-dogging" around the yard, then I plop down and can just relax and nap! I am a 73 lb male dog, around 3 years old. I am crate trained, potty trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.
