Description
Posted Breed: Dachshund / Alaskan Malamute / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $1. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Silly boy Farley Date into Rescue: Originally 1/6/2017, adopted and returned in 2018 Reason for being in rescue: Farley was originally found as a stray in SC and taken to a local shelter. CPR pulled him from the shelter. Farley was adopted and lived in a home for almost a year. He was returned to CPR in 2018 when his owners were unable to manage his behavior - his epilepsy was just starting and was not controlled Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Farley is an epileptic - controlled. He is takes medication 3 times per day. The medication he is on is called Keppra (generic name Levetiracetam). This can be purchased at Walmart or Chewy and runs roughly .35 cents per day). He MUST have his dose every 8 hours so please make sure your schedule allows this. Weight: about 32 lbs Height: about 12 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1, I am special Fence needed? Farley would love a fence to run around in, but it is not a necessity. What kind of home would be best for me? Farley would do best in a high energy experienced home with no other animals. He is fabulous with people, and wants all the belly rubs in the world! Farley needs a home where he has experienced dog owners, that can manage his behavior and his seizures! He is not to go to a home with a first time dog owner. Farley would do best in a home where there are no kids under the age of 12. He is a lover, but has his moments. He is not aggressive towards people, but he is dog selective and needs to be carefully watched around any dogs. . What is my personality like? Farley originally came into the rescue from a South Carolina shelter as a stray. He was adopted a few months later but recently returned due to not getting along with other dogs. While he was here with us the first time, Farley got along great with other dogs, but that did not work when he was in a home. We think once he is comfortable in his own space and claims his home he does not like to share his things and will resource guard toys, his crate, and sometimes even people. Other than that he is a joy to be around! Farley is very wiggly and so happy with his caregivers! He really doesn't meet a stranger. He adores toys, especially tennis balls and will play with his toys all day until the cows come home. Farley is also very intelligent, and will do anything for a treat. He knows how to sit, lay down, stay, and possibly even a few more. He loves people, there is not a shy bone in his body. His previous adopters had a wisdom panel DNA test on him. We had him listed as a corgi but it turns out, he is not a Corgi at all! His main breeds are Alaskan Malamute, Chow Chow, Dachshund, Golden/Lab Retriever. A true Heinz 57 pup that is looking for someone to understand his needs. We've left corgi on his description simply because he is long and low looking like a corgi. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Farley has a lot of potential - he just needs an experienced owner to give him a chance! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
