Description
Hobbs is a Male Blue American Bulldog for adoption to a very loving home in or near Bluefield, WV. If you are in Virginia, Bluefield is almost on the state line near Roanoke, VA or driving distance south of Charleston, West Virginia. Hobbs is a male bulldog is 2 years old and weighs about 60 pounds. He is in excellent health. He's been neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. He is too big and clumsy to be around young kids, but he is good with children older than 8, and with dog-friendly cats. Personality matters. Rescued from life as a stray, he’s melted many a heart with his open friendly ways - Hobbs is about as charismatic a bulldog as you’ll ever meet. He does not handle other dogs well and gets jealous and possibly aggressive. The perfect dog for somebody who is happy to just have one dog. If you like the charm of American Bulldogs, you’ll fall in love with Hobbs. He is only 2 years old and adores playing outside and going for walks with that special person. He is so appreciative of time spent with people and really needs a family that will be able to keep him busy and are willing to include him in regular play and adventures. Hobbs is a charmer - if you are bothered by big sloppy licks, then Hobbs likely isn’t your ideal dog. He loves showing you just how happy you make him when you share time and treats with him, and he's been known to wake his owner with big sloppy licks. He really does need a home where he doesn’t need to spend a lot of time alone, he loves the outdoors with you. He doesn’t require a lot of exercise, but some sort of regular activity is an important part of keeping him happy and healthy. He doesn’t require a lot of exercise, but some sort of regular activity is an important part of keeping him happy and healthy. Breed overview

American Bulldog
Overview:
Originally used in the 17th century for bull baiting—a wagering sport in which dogs fought bulls in a ring—Bulldogs had taller, more athletic frames (much like the Olde English Bulldogge). When bull baiting was outlawed in 1835, Bulldogs were bred to be kinder, heavier and more relaxed. However, American Bulldogs—which were brought to the U.S. before this breeding pattern—retained the size and strength of the original Bulldogs. Great family dogs, American Bulldogs are sweet to children. They love family-oriented occasions and want to be involved. With proper training and socialization, you’ll find them outgoing and exceedingly loyal. Some American Bulldogs will go to great lengths to protect their masters. Tough and determined, American Bulldogs have an impressive stamina and strength. They are always game for playtime in the back yard or working in the field.
