Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250.00. Hi I'm Tilly! I am about 3 years old and I came from an over crowded shelter in Arkansas. I am so happy to be in Iowa so I can find my forever home. I am a very sweet girl. I love people and love to play! I am not a big fan of cats but I like other dogs if I am properly introduced. I love to cuddle and can be a lap dog if you let me! I love to go on walks, jogs and just hanging out at my house with my family! I love to go for car rides too! I have very short hair and shed very little! I am a little nervous around small kids so kids over 10 are best. Won't you come meet me soon! If you are interested in adopting Tilly, please fill out the adoption application located at http://www.adopthope.org/log-adoption-application/ All or our pets need to be kept as indoor pets and we do require a home visit as part of the adoption process. The adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.

More About American Pit Bull Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

I have some Catahoula Leopard Dog, some American Staffordshire Terrier, some Lab and some Siberian Husky which explains my ice blue eyes! I'm an energetic gal so I would really like to have an active FUREVER home! I love running and jumping in mid air to catch a treat. Tennis balls are my all time favorite toy!I love to carry toys around in my mouth, it is my thing! I really need a fenced yard so I can run and run! I am pretty good at the agility course too! I can do it all by myself with no leash! . ;) I'm a really good girl and prefer to have my humans to all to myself. I'm not too fond of cats and other dogs, well they tend to steal the spot light so that upsets me. I love the water and playing in the kiddie pool! I'll let you paint my toe nails and rub my belly all the time. I am a smart girl and can't wait to meet my forever people! Indoor homes only! If you are interested in Clover, please visit our website and complete an adoption application for consideration. All of our pets need to be kept as indoor pets and we do require a home visit as part of the adoption process. Landlord (if applicable), vet and personal references will be called. If you would like to meet me please submit an application at www.adopthope.org. I'm all ready to go to my forever home because I'm up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, spayed, microchipped, and on preventatives for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Cattle Dog / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 250.00. This gorgeous girl is Willa! She's a happy little girl looking for a family to give her lots of love and time to play. She had major surgery on her legs and was confined to a crate during her long recovery but she is all healed and ready to find a family to call her own! She isn't a big fan of going for walks yet since she's still getting used to walking, but she loves to frolic around a fenced yard. Her affinity for toys would make her best suited to a home all by herself since she's very protective of them, but could thrive with a family savvy in resource guarding. When toys aren't involved, she loves wrestling with her doggy pals at Cedar Run Boarding! Willa is also crate trained. Willa tends to think cats as fun toys so a home without felines would be her ideal. She is good with kids but with her past medical history we think kids older than 10 would be best for Willa. She takes a daily joint supplement but it’s more like a treat than medicine. If you are interested in meeting Willa, please visit our website at www.adopthope.org and complete an adoption application for consideration. Willa's adoption fee is $250 and includes spay, rabies vaccination, distemper, bordetalla, and heartworm test. Microchip is also included. Last Hope animals are to be kept indoors only and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative. We check references, including veterinary.

I just love people and all the attention I can get! I love to follow my foster mom around the house. I love to play but when you settle in on the couch you should probably make room for me too! I'm working on all my commands I know "sit" "come" "go to your bed" and "lay down". I love to go for car rides and walks. When I'm outside I have to be on a tie-out or leash since I like to climb fences. I like to have all the attention and would prefer to be your only pup in the house. My foster mom has a dog I have been getting along with great...but I can be picky about who I'm friends with. I would love to meet you to see if I am the perfect addition for your family!! Please contact my foster mom at slackore1@gmail.com or adoptions@adopthope.org.

Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 300.00. Hi, my name is Shira; named after an ancient goddess of Egypt. I have come all the way from Egypt to find my forever home in Iowa. I love to play with my humans! I have lots of energy and would love a big yard to run in with a fence. I can be very goofy when I am in my playful mood. Since I am young I do jump up and be nippy when I am excited. I get along with other dogs, sometimes I just need a slow interaction and time-outs in my kennel if I get too rambunctious. My foster home has cats and sometimes I get the urge to run after one. I also like to check out their food when I can be sneaky. I like kids, it might not be good if I am around toddlers because I can get pretty excited and forget I am not supposed to play with them. I am very hesitant with new people in and out of my home. Slow and numerous interactions need to occur before I am comfortable. The most important thing, I need a tall fence otherwise I try to climb and get over the fence.

Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Harrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250.00. Hi, I’m Duke! I am a charming, happy, Cattle Dog mix, about 2 yrs old. I love to go for walks or runs (and I am really good at it!). I also love car rides, stuffed animals, and playing in a fenced-in backyard. I am completely house trained, crate trained , and am very intelligent. I know what sit, lay down , and stay mean, but I could use some more training to work on those commands and anything else you want to teach me. I love to run and play; I have a whole lot of energy, but I also love to cuddle, give kisses and be loved by my human companion . Basically, I just like to be doing what my people are. I am very cautious of new people. I really prefer to come check you out first, and I really rather you don’t pet me until I know you will treat me with kindness. I may have to meet you a couple times before I know I can trust you . I can’t tell my friends at Last Hope what happened to me before I came to stay with them, but all they know is that it takes me a while to trust people. Because of this, I should not be in a home with young kids or teens. My dream home would be with an adult family who is familiar with my kind of challenges. I would love 1 other playful dog around my size or bigger to play with (I can play a little rough so they need to be tough like me) and a family who is very patient with me while I adjust to new people in my life. I am a very loyal companion and I just want to please my humans! Once I know I can trust you, I just want to be around you and will be your shadow as you go through your day. I have also had my DNA tested! I am officially an Australian Cattle Dog / Harrier mix! I can’t wait to find my forever home. All of our pets need to be kept as indoor pets and we do require a home visit as part of the adoption process. Landlord (if applicable), vet and personal references will be called. The adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.

Posted Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $250.00. My name is Blaze, I am a super smart 4 year old Husky. I am looking for an active home that is familiar with my breed. I am a high energy kind of guy, but I do know when it's time to lay down and relax because that's my favorite time to get my behind scratched! I'd like to find a family with a fenced in yard, I'm not a fan of cats or little dogs - I just can't figure them out! I don't mind dogs that are the same size as me, as long as they like to play and understand that I can be bossy. I definitely want a home with another dog already in it! That fenced in yard is important to me because I need a place to burn off energy with my family, I'm not a fan of spending long days in the kennel so I'm looking for a family that has a flexible schedule and can take exercise breaks with me throughout the day. I'm most comfortable with men, I still get nervous around the ladies. Maybe with some day I can learn to be a ladies man, but for now I'm looking to find my new main man! All of our pets need to be kept as indoor pets and we do require a home visit as part of the adoption process. Landlord (if applicable), vet and personal references will be called. The $250 adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.
