Description
Posted Breed: Poodle (unknown type) / Terrier. Looks like: Poodle mix Male, 7 years old, 14 pounds Oreo Cookie is the most happy-go-lucky kind of pup. He might be paralyzed from his waist down, but that does not slow him down one bit. Oreo uses a set of wheels to get around when he feels the need for speed. At the dog park he runs like the wind, ears flopping, and a big smile on his face. At home, he morphs into an elegant mermaid when using a 'drag bag' for scooting around. This little fella has an impressive upper body strength! Sometimes he needs assistance to get places and he has learned to communicate his needs. He gently nudges you with his paw when he wishes to be carried. Oreo is very affectionate and enjoys endless snuggling. He is a perfect lap dog, but also does not mind being home alone for a bit. Outside the house, he likes to go on car rides and on adventures at the dog park. He is very friendly with every person he meets and enjoys the company of dogs of all sizes. He does well with gentle children, but we are not sure about cats as he has never been around them. Oreo came to Peace of Mind as a guardian surrender because his family was no longer able to keep up with the care that he needs.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
