Miniature Australian Shepherd Puppy For Sale in HARRISON, OH, USA
Sweet little black tri boy, half collar, brown eyes, dark copper. Probably small/medium toy, 11-13 inch, 11-14 lbs. Lower drive and gentle. Carries 2 copies of MDR1 gene so may be sensitive to certain medications prescribed by your vet. No health effect otherwise. Just have vet make note of it. Please read info below on MDR1. Ready to go 8-19-23. Hand raised with love in our home. ASDR registered. Microchipped. Parents genetically tested. Located in SW Ohio. Willing to deliver or meet up for small fee. More info and parent pics on web. Fetching Toy Aussies MDR1 (Multi Drug Resistance) is a mutation often seen in herding dogs like Collies and Australian Shepherds. This mutation causes dogs to be more sensitive to certain drugs at high doses. Symptoms of neurologic toxicity include weakness, lethargy, stumbling and coma. Fortunately, antiparasitic medications (ivermectin and milbemycin) are generally safe at the low doses in monthly worming medicines for dogs. However, with some infections higher doses may be required. It is important for your vet to know your dog’s MDR1 status. Be sure to remind your vet of the situation any time that your dog needs medications or sedation so the correct medications and doses will be given. Ivermectin has the most potential for toxicity. Dogs with two copies of the defective MDR1 gene can tolerate only up to 100 mcg/kg of oral ivermectin. For comparison, Heartgard only contains 6 to 12 mcg/kg. Drugs that should be used at lower doses or not at all include: · Analgesic/sedative: Acepromazine, Butorphanol · Antibacterial: Erythromycin · Antiparasitic: Octadepsipeptide, Doramectin, Eprinomectin, Ivermectin (Heartgard), Milbemycin (Interceptor, Sentinel, Trifexis), Moxidectin (ProHeart, Advantage Multi), Selamectin (Revolution), Emodepside · Antidiarrheal: Loperamide/Immodium · Antiemetic: Ondansetron/zofran · Apomorphine (used to induce vomiting)

Overview:
The Miniature Australian Shepherd is a well-balanced dog of medium size and bone. He is attentive and animated, showing strength and stamina combined with unusual agility. Slightly longer than tall, he has a coat of moderate length and coarseness with coloring that offers variety and individuality in each specimen. An identifying characteristic is his natural or docked bobtail. In each sex, masculinity or feminity is well-defined. Bone is moderate and clean with coarseness, heaviness or lightness being undesirable. Overall type, balance of conformation and movement are valued more highly than individual structural perfections because it is balance which enables him to fulfill his purpose.
