Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Stewie is an awesome boy. He was born January 2012. He is very friendly, has moderate energy, LOVES to go for car rides, enjoys chewing his bones, playing with his balls and loves the good ole butt and back scratches. Stewie can be a "rough" lover at times. He doesn't mean to get overly excited with some loving, but he just gets very happy with his pettings. He knows all basic commands and is great with obedience, he is so very smart !!!!! Stewie also knows how to kiss on command ! Stewie needs to be the only pet (no cats, no dogs) in the household. This is not to say he is dog aggressive, he simply is too rough for the majority of dogs and can get possessive of food and toys. If there are any kids in the house, they should be old enough to participate in dog care and able to follow directions. Stewie even has his one Face Book fan page : stewie adopt me. Go check out some more great pictures of this guy !!! Adoption fee for Stewie is $75.00

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Boxer
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer (short coat). Adoption Fee: 200.00. Mr. Squishy is simply an amazing boy. Yes he is deaf but don't let that interfere with you adopting him. This boy LOVES LOVES LOVES PEOPLE. He was found as a stray in the Macomb County Area, and even the shelter people commented on his love for people. Currently, Squishy is going through heartworm treatment as he is positive for heartworms. But he goes in on February 27th to complete his heartworm treatment and than will be neutered two months after that. And during this time of recovery, his foster parents will continue to work with him on sign language and his deafness. He is a VERY SMART boy and catches on fast. He really wants to please. He is very well mannered and is a true, people's dog. He does great with the other dogs in his foster home, and would do great with kids as well. We are not sure about cats at this point. Squishy is settling in very nice in his foster home. His foster parents speak so nicely of this boy and we can't wait until he is ready to be adopted and find his new family. He is housebroken, crate trained, will be neutered before he is adopted. He is current on his vaccines and treated for internal parasites. He is also microchipped. Squishy will have to go to a home where there is an actual fence. This will have to be for his safety due to him being deaf. He would also benefit from going to a family who has another dog as well. His adoption fee is $200

      Titus - ADOP...

      rescue
      Breed: Boxer
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer (short coat). Adoption Fee: 200.00. Titus came to us from a shelter where he only had days to live before being euthanized. Over half of his body was missing hair from severe allergies that were left untreated for so long. You can simply tell that he was feeling miserable and in pain. Plus he was loaded with tapeworms, his ears were very infected and he teeth and gums were very infected and inflamed. A few of his teeth were extracted when he was given a dental at one of our vets. He was given a few rounds of antibiotics and many, many medicated baths and was given Apoquel for his allergies; along with using a grain free dog food. After being with us for two months, this boy is doing so much better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His hair has grown all back in and no more scabs/sores on his body. We couldn't be happier for him. What a journey he has been through. Titus is great with other dogs. In fact, we feel he would benefit strongly with have another four-legged companion; one that he can run and play with. He is very well behaved and is a super sweet boy. He is very friendly with everyone he meets and is just a super big, lovebug. He also listens very well to what you are asking of him; he likes to please his people. He would also do well with kids. But we are not sure about cats. His foster mom says that he is an absolute of a WONDERFUL BOY in every way possible. She cant believe how well behaved he is. He is neutered, crate trained, housebroken, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and been treated for worms. He is microchipped as well. His adoption fee is $200

      Breed: American Bulldog
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Bulldog (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300.00. Leo is a 3.5 year old boy who had only 2 days left in the shelter before he was to be killed. This boy did not deserved to be put down and we wanted to give him a second chance. We knew that he was said to have knee issues but did not realize that he needed BOTH ACL's replaced. So surgery is what he was given. But after he had surgery, he continued to have complications with his knees healing up properly and he had to go back several times to the vets for further procedures as well. But Leo is all healthy and ready to be adopted. Finally. After 5 months of being with us. Leo would be best with larger dogs. He does not do well with cats or smaller dogs. He would also do best with older kids due to his size and strength. He is a fabulous boy. Loves to be loved on. But may easily knock over a smaller child. Leo is a very smart, intelligent boy. He is eager to please, but will need someone to give him continued directions, as to what is expected of him. He would also do best where his family has a yard, so he can explore and get some daily exercise. He loves to play and be a big, goofy ol boy. He is a fast learner and is one big happy boy. He will even sometimes grab the leash to play tug-o-war. He is housebroken, crate trained, neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and been treated for internal parasites. He is also microchipped. His adoption fee is $300

      Breed: Boweimar
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer / Weimaraner / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 250.00. Trudy, Trudy, Trudy. this girl is still quite all puppy. Silly, goofy and loves to play. She loves her basket of toys and can easily entertain herself. Toys are a must for her, not only becuz she loves them, but if she starts to get bored, she may start to look for things to nibble on. But remember, she is still Puppy-like nd will need direction to let her know what things are acceptable, and what are not. She loves playing in her backyard too. If she sees a squirrel or any birdies, she likes to go and chase after them, thinking its a game. Trudy is a little over a year. A very pretty, petite girl who is very friendly and happy with people. She likes playing with other dogs and would do best with male dogs in particular or a submissive female. . She would also probably do best with kids that are a bit older so she does not accidentally knock them down. Trudy is crate trained, housebroken, spayed and current on all vaccines. She has been treated for worms and is micro chipped. We will highly recommend that whoever adopts her, should take Trudy to a basic obedience class to help continue her training and let her know what is expected of her. This will also help the bond between her and her new owner.

Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 100.00. Allie is one HAPPY HAPPY GIRL !!! This girl loves to smile and her fun, goofy personality is very contagious. Allie does seem to get along with some dogs and actually enjoys running around the back yard with them, but she can be quite possessive over her food and toys, so due to this, we would like to find her a home where she can be queen of her castle. And no cats please. She finds them too tempting to chase. She would probably do better in a home with older kids, so as not to knock them over with all of her happiness. Allie is a very sweet, sensitive and soft girl. And loves to play with her humans and toys. She is about 3 years old and a bit on the smaller side, about 40-45 pounds. She is super sweet, loving girl who has a lot to offer to a family. She is very smart and wants to please her humans. Her foster mom describes her as super sweet, spunky and very curious about the world around her. She likes to find sticks and run around with them. And she loves checking out the flowers and delicately sniffing them. Allie is Crate trained, housebroken, has been spayed, current on all vaccines, heartworm negative and has been treated for whipworms. She is also microchipped. Her adoption fee is $100

      Breed: Boxer-Unknown Mix

      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 75.00. Sunny came to us from a very high kill shelter. She was heartworm positive and had only hours left before she was to be killed. We were lucky that a very nice woman stepped up to help her and Foster her. Sunny is a boxer mix of sorts. She is about 4 years old and Her foster mom says she is an adorable girl and will even play in her crate. Her favorite toys are a ball and cloth-type toys. She is a real pleasure to have around and this girl just wants to be loved and treated like the adorable girl, she is. Just a real sweetheart of a girl Sunny is a friendly girl but can be a little skittish at times. We recommend that Sunny goes to a home with older kids, only for the fact that she often thinks she is going to be hit and cowers to the floor at times. We are worried that the energy level of young kids, could increase the amount of time she fears being hit. Sunny would do best as the only dog in the household. Even though she lives in a foster home with other dogs, she simply does not like to share her toys or food with other dogs. We are unsure of cats at this time. Sunny has finished her treatment for heartworms. We did several blood tests on her and all her bloodwork came back great. She was treated for tapeworms and whipworms. She is spayed, current on all vaccines, microchipped as well. She sometimes will have an accident in the house. Her Foster mom continues to work with her on this issue. Her adoption fee is $75
