Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Quincy! He is a beautiful, young pittie mix who showed up as a stray at an industrial park in Miami. Thanks to a wonderful foster family, we were able to bring Quincy into the rescue so we can get him cleaned up and ready for a forever home! Quincy is in a home with other pups around his size and gets along just fine with them. He is also great with the children in his foster home, including a toddler. It turns out that Quincy is quite the water dog - he LOOOVVESS the pool! His foster mom reports that he will even race his humans from one end of the pool to the other, so if you need a new lap partner, look no further than our boy Quincy! He is a bit nervous in new situations. For example, going to the veterinarian's office is very scary and Quincy does not love it. We are working with a trainer to help him overcome his reactiveness when he is scared or uncomfortable, and he will need an understanding forever family who will continue to work with him. Overall, Quincy is a goofy, fun-loving boy and his foster mom says nothing but good things about him! If you think you can give Quincy a great home and help him be an ambassador for his breed, please fill out an application! *The application is the first step and must be completed before meeting Quincy *Adoption fee: $175, includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations to date, heartworm testing, deworming.Foster location: Fort LauderdaleIf you are interested in adopting Quincy, please fill out the pre-adoption screening form at http://adoptadog.goodkarmapetrescue.org. If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Dachshund-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male

Posted Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). I'm a Chewbacca. . . duhhh just like the Star Wars guy. I was born December 2014 and only weigh 10lbs. I love children, taking baths and going for a swim. Belly rubs and cuddles are a must! I am crate trained while my foster mom is at work and get to sleeps wherever I want with free roaming of the house. I am almost house trained. My apologies for being a finicky eater and will need adjustment time when meeting new men ( usually 3 visits before I'm no longer afraid). Can you blame me for being a finicky eater if I can conn my Mom into preparing home cooked meals with chicken? Can you please take me for lots of walks and runs. Every morning, I LOVE waking up my mom's son with my licks. Adoption fee is $250 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, parasite screening, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Born 01/01/2013 Paquito is a 5 year old, 13 lb bundle of sweetness. Found under a truck, this little guy is a typical Chihuahua. Fussy about who he will befriend, Paquito takes a little while to trust people. He does best when given a chance to check you out in his own time, his own way. But once you pass the test, you are gold! He enjoys other dogs, doesn't mind cats and loves sleeping in bed with you. He's not really sure what to do with toys, but is very sure about what to do with chicken and cheese! Watch him get super excited and carry a shoe to you just to show his appreciation for all your love. Paquito is ready for a family all his own, so please make Paquito yours today. Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat). In many ways Tiara is a living miracle. She came to us having been hit by a car, with no training, heart worm positive, terrible skin issues, anxious and untrusting. Today when you meet her, you will see how much she has transformed into a beautiful, healthy, smart, calm, well-behaved, housebroken and extremely affectionate dog! She is 4 years old, approximately 60 pounds and we believe her to be a blue-gray American Bull Terrier. She loves and has done well with playful but gentle toddlers, teenagers and attentive adults. When she first came to us, she didn’t know how to be part of a pack but after living with our two dogs (especially our pit bull), she does well with dogs her size. She is currently not well-suited to living with or being around small dogs or cats. She has learned all her commands (sit, come, stay, paw, down) and behaves when left free in the house. Tiara loves to go for walks and gets all excited when you take her outside! She is curious and friendly, greeting all her neighbors or checking out new smells! She makes a great companion or family dog and because she loves being with humans so much, she equally enjoys playing ball or laying on the sofa watching TV with you (she’s a real cuddlier!). She is a healthy eater too and can’t get enough carrots, water melon, bananas, apples or ice. You will see Love in Tiara’s eyes and fall in love with this beautiful and overall good girl! Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Please fill out our application at http://adoptadog.goodkarmapetrescue.org if you are interested in meeting or adopting this dog and we will be in touch right away!

Posted Breed: Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). Xander is a super sweet and affectionate little 15yo senior. He enjoys cuddles but is also happy to lay on a comfy pillow or bed. He is not a barker and is pottie trained. Walks well on a leash and also enjoys laying in the sunshine outside. Gets along with dogs of all sizes and gender. Since he’s a mature fellow would be happiest with mature pup mates. Mellow little gentle guy. Would make a great companion for anyone looking for unconditional love. Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Zoey is a playful and energetic born in 2010, 50 lb gal. She was recently busted out of boarding where she lived for the past 8 months. She had been living in an abandoned house with her sister Bella Boo, who was rescued at the same time. Now it is Zoey's turn. Zoey loves to play fetch, cuddle and go swimming. She is house trained and though she gets along with other dogs and cats, she is pretty sure she would want you all to herself. She does say that she MAY like an older and/or quieter furfriend... but maybe not! With her winning personality though, she may be all the dog you would need. Give her a bowl full of Nutro dog food, a cozy bed and a kiddie pool and watch her enjoy life. Due to Miami-Dade county regulations she cannot be adopted into this county. Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Hi, I'm Rocky... a 4 year old, 10 lb Chihuahua and like the famous movie boxer, I am a tough guy. Ok, so my owner gave me up. That doesn't make me a bad guy. I am just more comfortable with men, not women, just men. I mean football, snacks, naps, what's not to like? I even let loose an occasional burp! I enjoy my walks ( though my favorite trick is to go belly up when you try to put my leash on) and cuddling on the bed is fun too. I do get a bit nervous around new people so slow and easy works best for me. As for those little humans...no thanks. Not interested. At all. Ever. Yes, I am fussy, but at my age, I'm entitled. If you take me home, I promise to make you laugh a lot. Adoption fee is $250 and includes DHPP & Rabies vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test, deworming, and microchip. Posted Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (long coat). Punky Brewster is the cutest little golden girl!!!! She loves other dogs and all the people in her foster home. Her favorite thing is getting to sleep in bed with her favorite humans! Punky is about 12 years old, but don't let that make you think she's an old lady! She has LOTS of energy! She's super spunky, and loves to go on car rides and with her foster mama out in public. She even goes to "work" sometimes with foster mama and is as quiet as a mouse! She's seriously adorable, and weighs about 9 lbs. Punky has some accidents, so she wears diapers.. and sometimes a onesie! If you're looking for a dog to baby, PUNKY IS IT! She is super sweet and loves kids and would do well in any kind of home. She is calm when she is home, but sometimes gets seriously playful with her toys! Do you have room in your home and heart for this special girl? Adoption fee is $300 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip.
