and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue:12/3/2024 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Lacy is up to date on vaccines for her age. Lacy will be spayed 12/4/2024 and ready for her forever home by 12/7/24. We are accepting applications to adopt now. Lacy is a heavy shedder - if you have concerns about dog hair or allergies she is not your dog. We happen to think that dog hair is just rescue glitter! Weight: 9 lbs (est) and growing - we expect Lacy will be between 12-15 lbs when full grown Height: 9 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? No, but a fence is a great safety feature for any dog. What kind of home would be best for me? Lacy is a young, happy, highly active dog that's had far too little activity and socialization as a young puppy. She was very well loved, but needed so much more activity than her owners could give her. Lacy is looking for a highly active lifestyle. This girl is no couch potato! She is a perfect hiking buddy and would love any adventure you're up for. Her small size is well suited for children over 8, as long as you're willing to invest in some training. All that Lacy knows is that humans are awesome and she wants to be with you all the time. Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! While our ideal home for puppies has another young dog in it, Autumn could be adopted to a home where she is the only dog as long as there is a solid plan for regular socialization a minimum of 4 times per week. Socialization occurs when dogs are off leash and free to be themselves, unencumbered by human restraints (other than the fence that keeps them safely contained). Socialization times would be for instance, inviting a neighbor or friend over with their dog to play in your fenced yard or going to someone else’s home to play in their fence yard. Socialization time could be doggy daycare. Socialization time could be a group walk if you include a playtime at the end of it. Training classes do not always include socialization time. Some puppy classes do include a period of time at the end where the dogs can romp and play together. This would be perfectly acceptable. Time can also take place inside the home, it does not have to be an outdoor area, as long as the dogs are free to interact with each other without leashes or other restraints. What is my personality like? If you've heard the Farrell song "Happy", this is Lacy to a tee. She walks around with a smile on her face, pep in her step, and an eagerness to jump into whatever adventure awaits. We can just imagine her dancing to the rhythm of her own songs and loving it! Lacy is a young, active, small dog who has had little to no training. Purchased by a family member for an elderly grandparent, the sentiment was well intended (companionship) but Lacy needed much more mental and physical activity. When her mom entered the hospital, Lacy's groomer stepped in to help her find the right home. And here we are.... Lacy is going to be a great pet. Right now, she is a bit wild. We can't blame her - there are so many fun scents here in rescue and so many people and dogs to meet. She has been great with dogs of every size, though perhaps a bit of a pest to senior dogs. She hasn't met cats, but we suspect she'll think they are just fine too. What Lacy needs is some training, plenty of play time, and consistency and routine. How do I act when I first meet new people? Excited. Thrilled. Like she's never been given any love before! Seriously, Lacy never meets a stranger. Other tips and tidbits: We were told that Lacy is 6 months old. We celebrate her birthday 06/03/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
