Mutt Dogs For Adoption in Sandy, UT, USA

Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hi, I’m Kaprie I’m a 1.5-year-old shepherd mix, 60 pounds, and everyone says I look a little like a tiny deer with my long legs and

my very pretty eyes (one blue, one brown — trust me, people always compliment them) I’m a super friendly girl who LOVES people. My favorite thing ever is jumping up to give you a big hug, then melting into your lap like I’m a 10-pound chihuahua. Cuddling and belly rubs are truly my passion. Oh, and just so you know… I love taking showers with my human If you turn the water on, I’ll hop right in — who doesn’t need a shower buddy? I love playing with other dogs, but I can be a little protective of my favorite humans when other dogs are around — never with people, just other pups. I used to have nobody, so now that I finally know what love feels like, I guard it a little. I’m learning every day that I don’t need to do that anymore, and with guidance I’m improving fast. I really love toys, especially a ball! And if you chase me while I’m carrying one, I think it’s the best game in the world — I’ll zoom around like a happy little deer. I love going on walks and runs. I’ll pull a little at first because I’m just so excited, but I settle down pretty quick. I’m potty trained, and I’m really smart! I already know sit and shake, and I pick up new things fast. I’m crate trained — just give me a treat and I’ll go right in! I’m also an angel when left out. My favorite thing in the whole world? ADVENTURE. Car rides, hikes, new places — I’m always ready. I’d do best with a family who: ✨ Has kids over 12 (I’m sweet but I might accidentally knock over littles) ✨ Will take me on daily walks ✨ Will keep helping me with my manners ✨ Has tons of love to give — because I have even more to give back If you’re looking for a goofy, gentle, snuggly deer-dog with magical eyes… I think we’re meant to be. ❤️ Apply at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
