Energy level: Moderate History: Breeder Release Adoption Fee: $600.00 From the Foster: Pearl is an adult Purebred Bloodhound who has retired from raising puppies and now is looking for her family. We don't know much about her life experiences before she caught a ride to Minnesota but we are reasonably sure that she missed out on most of the things that give a dog a good start in life. She is facing a lot of adjustments and is doing great with the challenges. She cant do it all at once so we have been concentrating on the basics. Housebreaking and crate training have been big successes for her. She does well in the car and she is getting better on a leash. She doesn't pull but she hasn't mastered the finer points of walking in a straight line. She tolerates the sights and sounds of the household, even the washer and dryer which used to be very scary. She is currently living with an older, large, calm dog and two young rambunctious cats. She likes the dog and ignores the cats. She is working on manners but she is not above doing a little counter surfing if you are foolish enough to leave something within her reach. She is a calm friendly dog in public and at home and would probably do best in a calm household. She doesn't bark often but when she does sound off it is a big bellow so probably no apartment living for her. A fenced yard would be great for her because one of her greatest joys is to go out in the morning and plant her big nose on the ground tracking back and forth to identify any critter who may have wandered through her yard overnight. She is quite a neat and tidy version of a Bloodhound. She is fine featured and pretty. She has a condition where her eyelids turn in causing some irritation and tearing. She is scheduled to have her eyes "done" and when that surgery is completed and she has a week or two to recover, this glamour girl will be ready to go home. If you have the time and patience to work with this exceptional girl as she finishes her transition from puppy mill mama to house hold pet you will be rewarded with years of loving companionship.
