Posted Breed: Boxer. Hi folks.........Just like Scarlet in 'Gone with the Wind', I'm a beautiful Southern girl! I am super sweet and I absolutely love attention more than anything! I'm about 6 years young and I simply love life! I am happiest when I'm spending time with my people! I love children! I have to say that I'm a little skiddish of strange adults at first....it takes me a little while to warm up, but when I do, I'm extremely loyal to my family! I love going for car rides and I enjoy my baths and nail trims! Like most younger boxers, I have a lot of energy so I would do very well in an active family! I should tell you that I'm somewhat of a prima donna.......I have what some would call a dominant personality....I like to think I have a very large personality! Anyway, having other dogs or cats in my home is not preferrable. Like most Houstonians, I have allergies but they are easily controlled by a healthy diet (from pork and pea). Well, I'm absolutely adorable! I'm also house broken and crate trained. I'm really a love bug that just wants to be the center of attention........If you are looking for a sweet girl that loves attention and expects a lot of love and loyalty in return, I'm your girl! To inquire about me, please contact Steven at 832-257-9259.

Boxer

A.K.A. : German Boxer, Deutscher Boxer
Overview: The Boxer is surprisingly good with children. This breed has a playful nature, yet is patient and intelligent. With early training, a Boxer can provide a strong and watchful companion to all family members.
Breed Group: Working
Weight (lbs): male: 65-80, female: 50-65
Height (in): male: 22.5-25, female: 21-23.5
Colors: Fawn and brindle, both with or without white flashing and black mask.
Coat: White should not cover more than a third of the dog. Coat is short and smooth.
Character: Boxers tend to be very friendly and intelligent dogs. They bond very closely with their family.
Temperament: The breed gets along especially well with children. They also can get along well with most other dogs and household pets. They can be naturally inclined to protect a family from intruders.
Care: The Boxer can get by with an occasional good brushing.
Training: This breed needs special consideration in training to not jump on people, but it learns quickly. A consistent effort will pay off during training.
Activity: The Boxer requires a lot of exercise, including long walks and playing in the yard.
Country of Origin: Germany
Health Issue: This breed has some major concerns such as cardiomyopathy, sub-aortic stenosis, and hip dysplasia. They are occasionally prone to epilepsy and, in later years, may be prone to tumors. They have a tendency toward allergies and heart problems.
Life Expectancy: 8-10

More About Boxer Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Boxer. Introducing Melvin to the LSBR program! Hello folks......Melvin here checking in! I want to thank all of my fans who followed me on the Harris County Animal Shelter page. Your networking and support saved me! I‘m estimated to be about 5 years old and I’m a sweet, calm boy! I’m in an awesome foster home with lots of love and lots of other boxers! My foster dad says that I’m fitting in so well....I enjoy the company of other dogs and I just aim to please my people! My foster dad just reported that I'm doing so well in my foster home! He says I'm a little reserved when it comes to new things but it doesn't take me long to feel comfortable and once I do, I'm just fine. I'm now sleeping on a dog bed in my foster dad's bedroom and he reports that I am an excellent sleeper....not only do I sleep throughout the night but I barely move! He also reports that I’m crate trained as well as house broken and gentle as a lamb so although I haven’t been tested around children, I think I would do Very well in a home with little ones. My four favorite things are: meal time, treat time, being petted and being around my people! If you are looking for a mellow boy who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, look no further! Mellow Melvin is your man!

Posted Breed: Boxer. My name is Catori......I am approximately 5 years old And this ain’t my first rodeo. I was previously in the LSBR program....adopted into a home I thought would be forever. I was with my family for about three years so yes, I’m sad right now. My family dropped me off at a boarding facility and never looked back. I kept looking at the door they left through hoping they would return for me but they never did. Instead, the nice people from LSBR showed up and swept me away! Now I’m in an awesome foster home with two other boxers and I’m doing well. I’m great with kids but no kitties please! I’m house broken and crate trained but I‘m fine if not crated when alone as long as I can’t get to the trash! It’s so tempting! So, I’m newly single and ready to mingle......come meet me And get ready to fall in love!

Posted Breed: Boxer. My name is Holly and according to my foster mom, Im sweet, petite and very smart! I’ve overcome a lot in my short life. When I came to LSBR, I had a broken pelvis! I underwent surgery and a lot of downtime while healing which I’m sure you know is grueling for a young boxer! I admit that I had it rough before coming into the LSBR program. People in my prior life were not nice to me and because of that, I should be placed in a forever home that has the patience to help me rebuild my confidence. I share my foster home with a very submissive male dog but, okay, I’ll just tell you that I really don’t like sharing my home with other female dogs. I like to be the only girl in the house. My foster mom says that I’m house broken as soon as I’m acclimated to new surroundings and know how to let you know I need to go out and I’m used to my crate. My foster mom says that I love people and am very eager to please! That makes for easy training! That’s me....easy-peas......but don’t take my word for it, come meet me for yourself!

Posted Breed: Boxer. All come to order......here comes the Judge! Hello folks, my name is Judge and they say I’m somewhere around 1.5 to 2 years old. Despite my young age, I’m a big, strong boy and when I arrived at LSBR, I had never received basic training including good socialization. I’m in an awesome foster home with a foster dad who has put in a lot of time in with me to ensure I am ready to be a great addition to a new home! Therefore, I‘m looking for a forever home that will not only love me, but a home that will stay the course with my training. My foster dad reports that I will do well in a home with other large dogs but no small dogs or cats. I am also house broken and crate trained! You see, behind this beautiful face, there’s a truly good boy that loves his people who is eager to learn and aims to please! I believe there‘s a perfect match for everyone and I’m just waiting patiently to find mine! I would love to meet you to see if we can make a love connection!

Posted Breed: Boxer. Hello! My name is Bean and I'm about 2 years old. I was recently found as a stray and a nice family took me in and helped me find LSBR! My foster mom says that I'm a petite girl who is fully crate trained and eager to please. I like to go on daily walks where I am told that I am very good on-leash. I also enjoy my time sniffing around the backyard while my foster mom does yard work. I even do some zoomies back and forth! But then I'm happy to hang out and watch TV either snuggling or chewing on a bone. I mostly just enjoy being around people, so whatever you are doing is great with me if I can just be nearby. I am good at entertaining myself with a stuffie toy or a squeaky ball. I like car rides, I don't mind thunderstorms, and I'm partial to chest-scratches. I am learning to use a doggie door also. I sit politely for treats and am learning "shake". I crate up easily with a treat when you need to leave the house or at night for snoozing. I would do best in a home as the only dog where I can reign as queen bee! I don't mind seeing another dog across the street on a walk, but frankly, I just don't want to live with another canine - I want all the loving to myself! And dog parks and doggie daycare? Yuck - all that sweaty fur? No thank you! I just need YOU, a nice walk, and a few toys, and I am perfectly happy. I love people and I give great little gentle kisses! I don't mind sharing my toys and even my food bowl with grown-ups, and I love getting treats! My perfect home would be a set-up where me and my two-legged BFF walk before or after work and then catch up on some tv time. Maybe a long walk on weekends, a drive through, some outside sun-time reading. Or maybe there is a family where I could be the "third musketeer" to make a home or apartment complete? THAT would be fantastic as well! I‘m so special I even have my own FB page......check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/Luke-of-Lone-Star-Boxer-1770123639873535/?ref=bookmarks

As you can also see, I’m 100% adorable! I love to play with the other female boxer in my foster home and I love my toys as well....especially tennis balls! I‘m house broken and seem to do well in my crate. I love sleeping on my dog bed at night......I never try to get in bed with my foster mom. I’m looking forward to finding my very own forever loving home......a Home with someone to love me and play with me!

Posted Breed: Boxer. Hello Houston.....Hello USA! My name is Major and my brother, Nino, and I were recently surrendered to the Ft. Bend Animal Shelter but we are transplants from Japan! I'm about 7 years old with th energy of a 3 year old and very, very sweet! I know what you're thinking......what about those cropped ears?! I know cropped ears are so 1980 but hey, I think they make me look extremely regal! My foster mom says that I'm a strong boy and I love to play so, for that reason, my ideal home would be one without small children. I already have very good house manners and I'm house broken as well as crate trained. I 'sit' on command and am happy to go into my crate for a treat! My foster mom says that my leash training could use a little improvement so she's working with me on that....and I'm a smart boy so I'm sure I'll catch on fast! I also live in a home with cats. I wouldn't say I love them, but we seem to get along just fine. So, Major here, signing out.......I hope to meet you soon!

Posted Breed: American Bulldog / Bulldog / Mixed. My name is Jeff which is understandable since I was found wandering with my friend, Mutt. We are roughly 4-5 years old and not much is known about us at the moment. When we were found, we were pretty low. We had little hope of making it and had just about given up. After so many people passed us by, a nice lady stopped for us.....finally! We were overjoyed....we couldn't believe it! We were at the point of trusting anyone that offered to take us off the streets! Since we were found with eachother, it is believed that we are good with other dogs. We have not shown any aggression towards anyone or anything so we seem to be good around people of all ages. We haven't been observed around cats. For more information about me or my buddy Mutt, please contact Sharon at belleboxer@comcast.net or 713.594-4565.
