Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have captured my heart ever since I watched the classic Disney movie Lady and the Tramp as a child. They were to expensive for my family as a child but years later I was involved in a dog rescue and one of the puppies was a Cavalier. He is AKC registered but the mother is not. The puppies do all look like him without exception. Ginger is a wonderful mom, she will mommy the cat, but I do believe she may have had a bit of poodle in her genepool somewhere. The puppies have all been well socialized and we are working on potty training. It is a big job with so many little tails but if you let them out often enough the results are good. They are on a Grain free diet, Pure Balance is the brand name. You can get it at Walmart. However, as you know Cavaliers love food and I cook for them in the evenings. Brown rice and beef liver or hamburger with chicken on Sundays. They absolutely love the warm food and will only eat the dry food when they are hungry. Cavaliers need to be treated on a regular basis. If you are not prepared to share your food with them do not get a Cavalier, they love good food so much it will break their heart.
