Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. Meet Minnie. She is 7 years old and about 5 #. She is a very sweet and gentle chihuahua. She is also not very yappy for her breed stereotype. She's a real lap dog- her foster mom said she will sit in your lap for hours. Minnie is well behaved and great with kids. She is also good with other dogs and cats! This smart girl is even housebroken! She'd be a great dog for an apartment. She was in a foster home for a while, but is currently at the rescue. Feel free to come by to meet her! Our hours are below. Or email us your app to set up a meet n' greet. Check out our home page for more info on the adoption process/venues! Thx! Are you my furrever family? For further info on the adoption process, please visit our home page and check out the "Adopt a Dog" section where very thorough instructions await. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, micorchipped, and fully vaccinated before adoption; they have been wormed, bathed, socialized, walked daily and much loved; each adoptee leaves with a leash, collar, and all medical records. If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Mico- coming...

      Breed: Beagle
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Beagle. Mico is a chocolate tricolor beagle boy. 1 and a half years old, and 22.6 lbs. House trained. Used to crates. Leash trained. Loves all sizes of dogs, but not used to cats. Not recommended for children. Mico is coming to us from a shelter, where he was turned in for behavior issues. He will need beagle savvy adults who will be patient and let him settle into his new home. He was originally turned in to the shelter from a home because of the owner's health issues. He had been well behaved and was fine with the home's big dogs and young kids. He loved going on outings, such as to the dog park. He was friendly to everyone at the shelter. However, his behavior changed after he was adopted from the shelter. He bit twice in the new home, though did not break the skin. He was returned, and adopted a second time. He was returned again after one instance of trying to snap at a person's face and hand. We don't want him to have further biting experiences. Let him learn to trust you before you pet him, and let him come to you. No pulling by the collar - don't "get in his face". Since he did so well in his first home, we are sure that he can be a good dog for the right person. He is coming in soon and we will update as we get to know him better. Are you my furrever family? Posted Breed: Beagle / Australian Shepherd. Honey Ryder is a 2 year old beagle/shepherd mix, about 30 lbs. She has pretty blue eyes. She is very skittish and not used to being on a leash. She is here with 13 other very unsocialized dogs- all young, and beagle or dachshund mixes. The one of the group who is the least shy is Ariel, who lives in our rescue's house and likes to sit next to her people. Others who are developing more quickly than the rest are blue-eyed Roger Moore, Felix, and Martini. The dogs aren't aggressive- they're just not used to people. It might help them to be in a home with another pet. They will need time to settle in, and new owners will have to make sure they can't escape the yard or run out the front yard until they're used to the home. Posted Breed: Beagle. Padfoot is a 2 and a half year old tricolor beagle, 36 lbs. Very handsome and friendly boy! He was just turned in, and has already fit in very well here. House trained. Crate trained. He's good with cats and dogs. His family recommended a home with kids at least 10 and up, because he can be food and toy dominant. He was found as a puppy in a park in January of two years ago. The family took him to a vet who thought he had been a discarded Christmas puppy. He was afraid of the husband at first, but he got over it and hasn't been afraid of men since then. He lived well with their two older dogs and two cats. Because of their large household, they never planned on keeping him, and they turned to our rescue after they couldn't find a home for him themselves. ADOPTED 6/9/18! He was snapped up after just a day with us! Are you my furrever family?
