Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. Hello! I'm Pasta, the world's most handsome 6 year old blonde Chihuahua mix. I weigh in at 17 pounds - I admit I do love treats and a good bully stick now and again. I have excellent leash manners, and fancy pep in my step when I'm out and about! I'm also well versed in obedience commands like "sit," "down," and "come!" Pretty impressive, huh? I'm a smart little dude, so I bet you could teach me a couple more, too! I love my people, and will happily do anything with you: go for a walk, play outside, go for a car ride,or snuggle on the couch - I'm good at it all! I do remain skeptical of those little humans, so I would prefer to be in a house with grown children or just adults - so I can get all of the attention! I get along with other dogs okay, too, as long as we have correct and polite introductions, but I'm not super impressed with them either. Like I said, I just love attention! The more time I can an spend snuggling with my humans the better! What I would love most of all, though, is a home and family to call my very own. Could it be you? What's next? Please fill out an adoption application at this site -http://www.animalalliesrescue.org and choose me - Pasta! My adoption fee is $300 and includes all routine vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, neuter surgery, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention, microchip, boarding and transportation costs if applicable, along with an offer for 30 days of free 24PetWatch pet insurance!

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed. Love at First Sight!! Hi, Everyone! My name is Grant and I am looking for my furever home. I know, I know…. I’m gosh darn adorable with my scruffy, tri-colored coat and adorable brown eyes. As you can see, I am a great doggie model too, but I’m more than just my good looks. I am a one-year old Yorkie mix who does well with other dogs and children. I was very playful, affectionate, and loving. I was given up by my previous owners for being a bit too active. What did they expect from a young terrier like myself? In my previous home, I lived with another male dog and loved the children in the home (ages 2 – 5 years old). My ideal home would be with an active family who can continue my training and keep me entertained with some fun toys and games. I’m a champion cuddler, too. If you’d like to add a fun, playful, adorable doggie to your life, you can’t go wrong with me! Please fill out an adoption application at this site - http://www.animalalliesrescue.org and choose me - Grant! My adoption fee is $350 and includes all of my routine vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, FelV/FIV testing (kitties), deworming, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention, microchip, boarding and transportation costs if applicable, along with a free *trial offer for 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance! *Dependent on meeting eligibility requirements: Dogs 8 weeks to 10 years of age and cats 8 weeks to 12 years of age. This offer is not currently available to residents of CA, PA or RI.

Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed. Please – stop singing that song right now! Yes, I’m a Hound Dog, but I’m so much more than that. I’m not cryin’ all the time. Well, to be honest, maybe I cry a little when I see other dogs (they get me All Shook Up) or when my peeps put me in my crate (it’s not really crying, it’s Jailhouse Rock). Of course I can catch rabbits (in fact, they’re Always on My Mind). And I’d very, very much like to be a friend of yours. In fact, I’m hoping you’ll Love Me Tender, because I’m a devoted snuggler. Like Elvis, I’m a Southern boy with a wiggle that makes girls swoon. I’m still a pup, and I’m full of energy. I’m hoping for a great big yard to run around in and chase squirrels and birds. If you have another active dog who can be my play buddy, all the better. I’m learning all kinds of new things – like how to get a treat if I sit on command, and how to walk politely on a leash (though they say I need continuing education in that department). Do put your Blue Suede Shoes in the closet, because sometimes I chew things that aren’t mine. But if you say no, I’ll quickly switch to my bones and soft toys. My peeps call me Mr. Congeniality because I’m an easygoing guy who loves everybody, and everybody loves me right back! Are You Lonesome Tonight? I can do something about that. I know you Can’t Help Falling in Love with me, because I’m A Big Hunk o’ Love. But It’s Now or Never – so don’t be a Hard Headed Woman (or man). I just wanna be your lovin’ Teddy Bear! If you'd like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website - http://www.animalalliesrescue.org/adoption-application and choose me - JESSE! My adoption fee is $350 and includes all of my routine vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, FelV/FIV testing (kitties), deworming, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention, microchip, boarding and transportation costs if applicable, along with a free* trial offer for 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance! *Dependent on meeting eligibility requirements: Dogs 8 weeks to 10 years of age and cats 8 weeks to 12 years of age. Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Pssssst, hooman....yes, you. I couldn't help but notice that your lap is looking a little lonely, and I am currently without lap. Perhaps there is a way to remedy this situation? They call me Kayla the Kiss Stealer, and I'm here to spread cuddles and cuteness to all who cross my path! If you're looking for a loving, loyal lapdog - then I'm your lady. As a hopeless romantic, I enjoy long walks, fine food, and destroying toys. I recently underwent minor surgery and am healing fast - and doctor's orders are for me to find my forever home, STAT! Love may have no boundaries, but I'm figuring out that I get extra love when I follow the rules. I get more belly rubs when i don't bark, and more pets when I don't pull. While I have enough love to go around, I'd prefer to be in a one-pup household, and I find cats to be curious (and quite chase-able) creatures. That said, I currently co-habitate with both a dog and a cat, and with consistent guidance, I'm learning how to share my people. If you're looking for love, then steal away with me, Kayla. I'll make sure you know how kissable you are! If you'd like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website -http://www.animalalliesrescue.org/adoption-application and choose me - Kayla! Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. THIS IS A COURTESY POST - FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SAMSON, PLEASE CONTACT Joel at joel_blank@hotmail.com . Samson is a black lab mix just over 8 years old (he was a rescue when I got him and we believe he was born in sept 2009). He weighs approx 65 lbs. and is neutered and up to date on vaccinations, with no health concerns. He is crate trained but prefers to sleep in a dog bed outside the crate, so he can look outside via his bay window as he chooses. He is house trained and has not problems with chewing or bathroom needs so long as he gets a midday walk. He gets along with adults and grown children, cats, and some dogs (hit or miss); he gets anxious around small children. Some background. I got Samson when he was 3-4 months old from a rescue shelter. He has been a great companion, although a bit quirky. He has inconsistent interactions with other dogs, starting from a young age. Some dogs are his best friends, and others from the first interaction are just not meant to be part of "his pack". Working with a few different behaviorists I (and later "we" after we got married) learned how to better work with Samson, but still to this day his interactions with new dogs can be unpredictable. Overall Samson is a wonderful companion. He is house-trained, generally obedient, knows a lot of tricks (he can even clean up his toys and put them away into his toy basket), enjoys being near us, loves to welcome us home after a long day of work, and enjoys walks and long hikes. It is important to us to give Samson the home he needs. THIS IS A COURTESY POST - FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SAMSON, PLEASE CONTACT Joel at joel_blank@hotmail.com .

We're a pair of best friends, looking for our new crew, That means a home with another dog or two! We were caught in a hurricane, in Texas, far away! When that happened, we just couldn't stay. So up North we fled, side-by-side, all the way, And we need a home together, because together we HAVE to play! You see, there's nothing we love more than hearing each other snore. Cuddled together, naps galore, sneaking kibble and snacks evermore. We like dogs and kids - and yes, even your cat! We're learning our manners - commands, leash-training - things like that. We need patience and love in our new habitat, But once we trust you - we'll BEG for a pat! We're curious and sweet Ready to meet, greet (and eat!) Two waggy tails, Eight adorable feet - Is your life incomplete? It's true, we make quite the pair! But we really want a family to share. Could it be you? Have room to spare? Because I'm Sue! Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Mixed. Got a thing for Geriatric Gentlemen? Well look no further, ladies and lads, because I'm Uncle Buck, your Senior in Shining Armor here to sweep you off your scooter. I'm ready to roll off my Serta Posturepedic dog bed and into your heart (while you're moving the Posturepedic to your place, because these creaky bones LOVE that thing). I enjoy the simple things: leisurely strolls at sunset, leash in hand, taking the time to stop and pee on the roses. At 13-years YOUNG (that joke never gets old), I'm pretty set in my ways and am looking for someone who is all about routine: snacks, pets, pee on roses, nap, pets, snacks, repeat. Sounds like a pretty perfect way to ride out the golden years, right? With old age comes wisdom, experience, and sure, occasional incontinence. You might need to speak a little louder to make sure I hear you (assuming I'm not ignoring you, because hey, I'm an old man and I sometimes do what I want). You might need to put the pupperoni a little closer to my face so I can snatch it from you. I'm a little crotchety when it comes to cats, and young, exuberant puppies can get off my lawn. But good ol' Bucky's still got a lot of life in him. And more importantly, I've got a lifetime worth of love to share with someone special enough to know that age is just a number. I've heard the kids talk about this thing called "Netflix and Chill". Well, if that means "Naptime and Chow-down" - that's the kind of shindig your crazy Uncle Buck is looking for. Think you can hang? If you'd like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website -http://www.animalalliesrescue.org/adoption-application and choose me - Uncle Buck! Posted Breed: Belgian Shepherd Dog Sheepdog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. THIS IS A COURTESY POST - FOR INFORMATION ABOUT BABY PLEASE CONTACT AMBROSIA AT ambrosiandrews@gmail.com . Hello! My name is Baby and I am a spayed and chipped 7-year-old Belgian Shepard Labrador mix. I am up to date with my vaccinations and flea medication. I am also crate and potty trained. I LOVE to be brushed because it relaxes me and makes me feel safe. My owner jokes that I am a circus dog because I have a tendency to jump very high in one place when I'm excited! I have a prance in my step and love nothing more than to be my owner’s shadow. I get a little persistent with my kisses but I like to show you how much I love you! Thank you for taking me home with you! Love, Baby Baby is a loyal and protective dog who is at her best when she has purpose and a job to do. At times, she can seem somewhat aloof around strangers but with the right structure and patience she will interact with others. Baby would be a perfect dog for someone who is firm and able to establish trust with her. Her ideal environment would be in an organized, loving household hanging out with and watching over her owner(s). She is an independent dog who enjoys going on hikes, hunting critters and patrolling the backyard. Equally, she enjoys staying close to her master- she will follow you from room to room and always wants to know what you are doing next. On occasion, she will engage in typical dog activities, like attempting to play catch, but she is more likely to make you laugh at her awkwardness, than actually succeed at catching or fetching! However, Baby is very energetic and always keeps busy, unless the job at hand is to lay by your side and offer her support to you. Baby will do best in a household where she is the only dog and pet in the home and where there are no children. If there are children, it would be best that they are over the age of 14 and able to direct her in the appropriate way. She has dry skin on her back and by her tail which gets very sensitive, so she needs a daily supplement of fish oil in her food. Without this, she will have dandruff and her skin will be very sensitive. She loves the taste of fish oil so giving her this supplement will be no problem. She can be somewhat fickle about eating, but will stick to a routine once established. All in all, Baby is a good girl who is very curious and loves companionship, in turn she will offer you loyalty and love and all the kisses you can take.
