Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Feist / Mixed (short coat). Chrissy is an adorable light tan, short haired fun loving, lap hugging dainty little gal looking for a forever home with her daughter Rosalee. Chrissy LOVES daily walks, sleeping with her people and ample lap time. She’s a perfect lady on and off the leash. Chrissy is spayed and crate trained she is well-socialized and gets along with every dog, cat, and kid she’s ever met. However she is looking for a home with either teens or adults, not because she doesn’t like kids, but because she deserves to be the baby of the family. Chrissy can be slow to warm up and quite shy at first, but given time to warm up she will be your best companion. Chrissy is looking for a new home due to no fault of her own. Her family is not home enough to give her the time she deserves. She is 7 years old and weighs 10#. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application.

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Beagle / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed. Phoebe Snow is a sweet older lady (10 1/2 yrs) that is looking for a place to hang up her "home sweet home" sign and be your BFF. She is house trained, knows basic commands and loves children. She will chase cats and will sometimes quarrel with other female dogs but other than that she's pretty peace loving. If you have a soft spot in your heart for a pup that has lost her Daddy please fill out an adoption application on our website and we'll hook you up for a meet and greet. Where else could you find a spayed dog, current on their shots for $60? Owner's widow doesn't feel she can give her the time and love that she got from him.

      rescue
      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Junebug, aka Juney or Bug, is a very timid girl that was possibly abused in her past life. However, that life is now behind her and she is in a foster home and slowly coming out of her shell with her foster dad and mom, another dog her size, and even a cat! (She is curious about the cat and wants to sniff but is wary if the cat looks at her!) She is still very timid when a new person enters the home but is making wonderful progress for the short time she's been in foster care. She loves to run and will run around in circles in the back yard (fenced of course) but would rather have a buddy to hang with or her trusted people outside with her. She can also be a huge couch potato! Juney is learning how to be a snuggle buddy and will jump up on the bed to sleep with anyone there and burrow under the covers! She knows some basic commands such as sit, stay, come (unless she's scared), and is learning more each day. She walks well on a leash for being so timid still and would probably make someone a great hiking or running partner with a little more training. Juney has one ear that is usually up and one that doesn't seem able to be up and is always flopped half over. She also has big brown doe eyes that will just melt your heart! She is house trained and weighs approx 71# and is about 6 years old.

Posted Breed: Whippet / Dachshund / Mixed. Marley is a very smart little boy. He is good at bringing the ball back and dropping it in your hand, sitting when told, go to your crate etc. At his foster home he's quite happy while running with the big dog. He does have some fear issues when it comes to meeting new people and we are having some potty issues. I know he knows what he is supposed to do but he doesn't seem to like going out in the rain. Hopefully someone with patience can get him to listen. Very sweet, likes to cuddle when not playing. He is crate trained. Marley will get on your lap if invited, giving you lots of love and kisses. He is up to date on his shots and chipped. Neuter is set for 4/18 so if you'd like to meet him before the cone of shame is applied please fill out an adoption application. His adoption donation is $150.
