  • Australian Shepherd-Unknown Mix Dog For Adoption in Grand Prairie, TX, USA

    Willow

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Australian Shepherd-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). This beautiful fur baby's name is Willow and is she approximately 2 years old. She is a very sweet and friendly girl who loves attention. She was found wandering a street that is a known area for abandoned dogs. We took her to the local shelter to be scanned and had her posted on the website as a found animal but didn't receive any inquiries so we had her vaccinated, micro-chipped and tested for heart worms which was negative. The clinic couldn't tell if she was spayed and because we didn't want to put her through un-necessary spay surgery we decided to wait to see if she went into heat. We have had her for over a year and she has never exhibited any signs of going into heat so we believe she is spayed. If after she is adopted, she should go into heat, we will pay for her spay surgery at a vet of our choosing. Willow would be a great family dog. She has a lot of energy and because she is still the "perfect dog" in training, needs to be taught some basic training. She knows the sit command but in her excitement to get attention from humans she will jump up and put her paws on them which could be overpowering for small children. Therefore, we believe she would be a better fit for families with larger children. She is friendly with other dogs but we haven't tested her one on one with any of the other dogs who are older than her and not quite as playful. We believe she will do great with any dog that is playful in nature with an even tempered personality but would be fine in an only dog family as long as she received a lot of attention from her family and daily exercise. She currently is fostered on property that has a lot of room for exploring. Willow does lose her winter coat starting in the spring so her fur does need to be raked to remove the loosened fur. There is a special rake you can purchase from the local pet store that works well for the process and she seems to like it (and the attention she gets during the process). She recently received her yearly vaccines and heart worm test which was negative, If you feel Willow would fit into your lifestyle please email us at arnt_dfwyahoo for a pre-adoption questionnaire which is part of the adoption process. Once reviewed, if it appears your home would be the right fit for her we can schedule a meet and greet.

    TJ

    Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). TJ is such a great dog. He is approximately 3-4 yrs. old and loves people. His excited state when seeing people he knows is to nip them on their fingers to get attention which could be alarming to small children therefore we believe he would do best with older children who would not be startled with this form of affection. He does know the "sit" command and that helps to calm him down a little. We believe he is a Staffordshire Terrier mixed with perhaps a boxer. He is currently fostered where he has to stay outside so we don't know if he is house trained. He does have a large outside chain link kennel he stays in at night which has a designated area for relieving himself and he does use that area so we feel he would be easy to house train. He isn't a big marker outside so we think that would not be a big issue inside the house but he would need to be watched to correct that issue should it arise. He gets along with most dogs and has a best friend "Sofie" who he runs and plays with and they are in kennels next to each other. We believe he would thrive better emotionally with a female companion to pal around with in a working family household where the family is gone part of the day since we already know he does so well with Sofie who is a girl. We don't know how he is with cats. Because our adoption process includes a home visit for a yard check, he is available for adoption in the immediate Dallas-Ft.Worth area only. He is neutered, current on his vaccinations, heartworm tested and micro chipped. If you are seriously interested in meeting TJ outside our adoption events you may email us for a questionnaire to fill out. If it looks like your home might be a good match for TJ we can set up a meet and greet. His adoption fee is $150.

    Autum

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Bulldog-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Autum was abandoned on an isolated road in SW Dallas that many dogs are abandoned on. She came running up to one of our volunteers that was going on to private property to tend to other dogs that were abandoned on the same road that we are trying to find homes for. She was so friendly and tried to jump in the volunteers car. We believe she is about a three year old, bulldog mix. She is super friendly to people but is choosy with dogs she considers friends. We think she might do best in an only dog household and would like her to go to a home where someone has plenty of time to work with her. She is an excitable girl who's tail wags almost constantly and loves to have her belly rubbed. She needs some etiquette and leash training for sure but she is such a happy, loving girl it will be well worth the effort. She is current on vaccines, spayed, micro chipped and on heart worm preventative. If you would like to meet Autum please email us for a pre adoption questionnaire. If your home looks like a good match for her we will schedule a meet and greet. A home visit is part of her adoption process therefore she is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. Her adoption fee is $150.

    Nutmeg

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Nutmeg is one of a party of five. He and siblings were born in an old shed behind some college girls rental house in a small college town around May 1, 2015. They felt they would have a better chance of getting adopted in the Dallas area versus the small town they were in so emailed us to see if we would take them and find them good homes. We think mom is a heeler, terrier mix. She is maybe 45 lbs. Nutmeg is current on all his vaccines and neutered. He doesn't like being in a crate so is loose in the house or outside. We feel he would be fine in a one dog family providing his human(s) has the desire and plenty of time to spend with him. A home visit is part of his adoption process so he is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. If interested in Nutmeg please email us for a pre adoption questionnaire which is the first step in the adoption process.

    Donut

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Donut is about 1-1/2 yrs old and has never met a person she doesn't like. She is a pretty tan with a silvery sheen which is hard to describe and has beautiful eyes. It is difficult to get a picture that shows her true beauty cuz she is too busy to stay still for something as silly as a picture. Her ears are folded down or stand straight up depending on her thought process at the time. She has a lot of energy and would be a great playmate for kids. She does pretty well on a leash and her foster is working on command training. She is territorial with her treats so best to serve hers in her crate. She would probably do better with a male dog as a playmate versus a female. If she sounds like a dog that would fit in your family, email us for a pre adoption questionnaire. If your home looks like a good match for her we can schedule a meet and greet with you. Because we do home visits for all our adoptions, she is available in the immediate DFW area only. Her adoption fee is $150
