We don’t know why he was given up the 1st time but in the 2nd home, he and the older male Chihuahua didn’t get along. So, he was being kept in a kennel, which is why his nose has the skin raked off... he didn’t like being in the kennel all that time. We were asked if we would take him and we were happy to get him out of that type of situation, one where he was not wanted. Kai is a happy boy and loves to play! He is a little slow to warm up to humans, probably because he was not socialized as a puppy with strangers, so he would benefit from puppy classes. He is treat motivated so if you have treats he’ll warm up quicker. Please don’t let that stop you from adopting this sweet boy, he just needs a chance to learn what it’s like to have a family that loves him and a forever home. It would be best if he is an only dog and had a fenced yard to burn off some of his energy. Thank you for thinking of rescue and we hope you see this boy's potential once he’s in a new home, we do. =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate. We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH, ME or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

Not knowing hardly anything about his background, it is amazing how friendly this dog is. He doesn’t know a stranger and is full of love and kisses! Let it be known that he goes a mile a minute. He dashes from point A to point B and is always wagging his tail furiously!! He is having some issues on the potty training front. He does know how to use a doggy door, but since his foster home doesn’t have one, it has been an adjustment. Part of the problem is that he had a slight Urinary Tract Infection. He took his two weeks of medication and we are happy to report that he is completely over the UTI. He does have a condition where there were crystals found in his urine. This means he needs the special dog food for his urinary tract. Presently, he is on Royal Canine S/O food and we will keep everyone informed on how he responds. Don’t let his condition keep you from inquiring about this young man. He is full of love and will make a wonderful addition to any family! I was rescued by AADR from an Alabama puppy mill. I was a breeder dog and had NO human contact before AADR. I was scared, hungry, and all alone. AADR took me in and completely vetted me. So here I am with my foster mommy and daddy and 3 doxie siblings to keep me company. I get along well with my foster siblings. I like using the doggie door to go outside and do my business and play in the fenced yard. I have no food aggression and respond well to treats. I am skittish but love sitting on my foster mommy’s lap in the evening while watching TV and I also enjoy taking rides in the car to the doggie park. I have a fear of movement, so you need to be patient with me and let me come to you first. I need to go to a dachshund savvy home in TN or within driving distance of my foster home. I have an issue I’m trying to work out and it will take time, lots of love, and trust to help me work on my skittishness. So, any dachshund savvy home in TN looking for a project – I'm your girl. If you are interested, my foster mommy will fill you in on all the details. AADR wants the BEST for me therefore, I need a home with another young dog, a strong pack leader, and a fenced yard. I need a Forever Home willing to teach me and help me work through my issue. I need a family who will protect and care for me. If you are looking for your Best Friend, open up your heart and home and I will love you forever. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. He is a bundle of love! He is looking for his forever family and will be a great addition to someone’s home. He must have a brother or sister to play with as he loves to play. Dant’e gets along great with his foster brothers and sister. He loves little balls that are his size. Sweet and bashful, he will need some time to warm up to you. He has a great personality, is a very happy dog, and can be quite goofy! Dant’e is very smart and learned the doggy door right away. He is good at going potty outside, but sometimes likes to poo in the house. So he will need someone who will help him with that (although, he might get it before he is adopted). Dant’e came from a family in North Carolina that split up and could not keep him. We actually have not heard him bark yet. So, if you are looking for a dog for protection, that won’t work. But, if you are looking for a quiet dog that does not care who walks by your house, Dant’e is the dog for you. If you are a family that has a great love for dachshunds and can spoil a little boy, Dant’e is a great choice! =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. She is a dainty little lady who needs to lose a few pounds, so her new owner will need to continue her healthy diet and exercise program. Velvet is friendly with new people and enjoys walks around the neighborhood. She has a cute personality and likes to play with other small dogs or by herself with a toy. She also likes to nap in her bed or a lap. Velvet gets along well with other dogs, but would be fine as an only dog. She has not been around cats, but can be introduced to some if needed. She is good-natured and would be fine with children who are gentle with her. During the day, Velvet stays in a dog friendly area of the house. She will use a pee pad if she is left for extended periods. At night she sleeps quietly in a dog bed. She would be very happy to sleep with her people too. Velvet does fine in a crate, but hasn't spent much time in one. He doesn’t bark and is not the least bit aggressive toward new people. He’s so sweet and lets you do anything you need to do for him with absolutely no fuss at all, whether it be giving him his eye drops or a bath, brushing his teeth, or putting his harness and leash on for a walk. He’s a very easy dog to care for and seems to really appreciate everything you do for him. It has gotten very hot in Georgia where Eddie is being fostered so we aren’t walking as much or as far as we used to just because of the heat. Once it cools back down Eddie would love to get back to his 1 1/2 to 2-mile walks. He loves to sit at the base of a tree and watch the squirrels in my back yard. He would give anything to be able to climb the tree to chase them. On his walks if Eddie sees a squirrel you better hold on tight because he wants to catch them, and he can run pretty fast if there is a squirrel to chase!! When Eddie goes missing in the house, you can always find him on the sofa under a blanket or nudged between the sofa pillows. He loves to relax on the sofa and just chill, especially after a walk. Unless he is napping his tail is almost always wagging. He’s just a sweet, happy dog! If you have any questions about Eddie, please email me. He’s 10 years young and deserves a great home for the rest of his life. He has a whole lot of energy for a dog his age and has come such a long way with his weight loss. He looks perfect now and his coat is soft, full, and beautiful. His adopter has to promise to never let Eddie get overweight again. I cannot stress enough the difference in Eddie since he lost 12 pounds. He’s active and happy; a lean, mean, squirrel-hunting machine. He plays with my other dogs a lot since he’s gotten the weight off. And one added bonus, he’s NEVER peed or pooped in my house… not one time! Just FYI, I’ve kept one picture of Eddie (the last one) on the website before he lost all the weight just so you can see the difference. BIO (5/9/2019): Eddie is a super sweet dog that loves playing with his foster siblings, which are all between 6 and 9 years younger than him. Eddie and my 10-month-old puppy chase after each other and have such a good time playing. Eddie may be 10 years old but he plays like a 3 or 4-year-old dog! He's a great leash walker too! We walk about 2 miles with his tail wagging the whole way. When all the dogs are in the backyard playing, Eddie is always the last one to come in. He loves the outdoors! You do have to watch him though, because he will entertain himself digging a big hole in your yard if you don’t keep an eye on him. After all, Eddie is all Dachshund! It will be important for Eddie’s adopter to continue to walk him. He is at a healthy weight now (just under 24 pounds) and we want him to stay that way, because he was extremely overweight when he came to our rescue. Eddie is a happy, easy-going dog who loves his tummy rubs. He will come up to you and roll over on his back begging for a tummy rub. He will do best in a home with at least one other dog. I have 4 other dachshunds and Eddie plays well and gets along with all of them, 3 males and one female. Eddie is very easy to care for because he sleeps all night in his dog bed without a peep, he always potties outside, and he lets you give him his eye drops without a fuss. His coat was not so pretty when he came into foster care but now, he has a beautiful full soft coat. He’s just an almost perfect dog! If he didn’t like to dig, I would say he’s perfect. I’ve been using a squirt bottle filled with water when he starts to dig and that seems to work well. If he sees the squirt bottle in my hand, he knows he has to refrain from digging. And by the way, it’s really easy to brush his teeth. I think he actually kinda likes to have his teeth brushed! Please email me with any questions about Eddie. He’s a good boy and deserves a wonderful loving home. If you think you can be the right person for him, don’t let him get away! =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. The number one thing you can say about Charlie is that he is happy! He has been through a lot in his short life and just seems very happy to be in a home and with his humans rather than left outside. Charlie is very smart and acclimated to our routine very quickly. We take him for walks with 2 of our dogs and he is in heaven! Charlie is a burrower and would love to sleep in the big bed with his humans. He is very playful and would love another dog to pal around with. This little man likes to bury his bones outside in the yard (check-out my video!). He is pretty good at it too! If another dog gets too close, he will run over and dig it up to rebury it in a “safer” spot. We have a doggy door, but even so, his potty habits are not perfect. Especially during rainy days. Otherwise, he is a lover, a lap dog, playful and smart! Charlie is definitely a keeper! Please check out .allamericandachshundrescue/ or email Foster Mom at decollinssaol with any questions. BIO: Charlie came from East Tennessee where he was adopted out by a shelter and two years later returned because he was flea infested to the point that he had no fur. The owners stated they could not care for him any longer. They had kept him outside and that’s why he was covered in fleas. The shelter contacted us and we agreed to take Charlie because we wanted to get him treated for a flea allergy and find him the right home. Charlie so richly deserves one because he’s one special pup. Yes, he’s a Chiweenie, but you’d never know it. He acts like a Dachshund through and through. You will need to check any blankets before you lay down or sit down because Charlie is likely under them sleeping away. Now don’t think Charlie is a couch potato because he isn’t. He LOVES to play with other dogs and needs another younger dog or even a cat to play with, he gets long with both. Charlie is accustomed to using a doggie door so you’d need to put him on a schedule until you and he figure out which schedule works best for the both of you. He will need to be kept on flea prevention year-round (along with heartworm prevention) because he has an allergy to the flea bites. Please consider giving Charlie a forever home. He really deserves it after the miserable start he had in life. Please make the rest of his life happy!

Daisy can't seem to understand why she's being overlooked time after time, WHY?? She will let you know when someone comes to the door, she is fine left in the house while you are gone, loves sleeping in the big bed, will settle down after a short time when people come into the house, and will cuddle up if treats are given. She is highly treat motivated. Give her a chance, please. Daisy was an owner surrender right here in Middle Tennessee and we KNOW she was abused. We believe she was dropped or thrown, and kicked. She is a sweet pup but can be a bit anxious in new situations. Other than that, she has no other issues. Daisy loves her gentle human and would love a fenced yard because she loves to be outside with you and to run around. The rest of the time she'll chill in a doggie bed or on your lap or beside you on the couch just catching a movie or maybe a well-deserved nap. Couldn't you please give Daisy a chance to show you she'd be a great addition to your family? Daisy is mostly Dachshund but does look to have a little of something else in her, but we are not sure what... maybe Chihuahua or Beagle?? Not sure, but that doesn't take away from her sweetness! She is a great little pup looking for that perfect person to be her BFF! =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.
