They stated they could no longer care for him. He came into rescue with a severe skin infection and both were ears infected. Due to long term ear infections, Freddie is deaf, but he catches on to routines very fast. He has been treated for his medical problems and is coming along wonderfully. His coat has begun to grow back in and he has put on a little weight. Freddie is a sweet boy that gets along with both male and female dogs his size. He is not a fan of large dogs. He is starting to learn how to play. Freddie needs to go to a forever home that has a fenced yard and a doggy door. It would be wonderful if he could find parents that were home most of the day. He loves attention and he loves to be held bundled in a blanket!! Freddie walks very nicely on leash and loves to go on walks... he may be deaf but his nose works great, he loves sniffing the grass and leaves. Please, give this sweet dog a chance. Freddie is capable of learning hand signals and growing into his full potential. You add the love and a little work and he will be your little buddy for life! =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate. We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH, ME or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

Rocky is overweight and we now have him on a diet to get him down to his ideal weight of about 14-15 pounds. In just the short time we've had him, he's lost a pound!! Rocky is a happy guy and loves everyone except puppies, he doesn’t like their energy but is fine with dogs his age or older. He doesn’t mind playing, he just doesn’t want puppies in his face. We do not know about cats but we are guessing “no”. A fenced yard and another dog to play with are must haves, and he loves his people!! She is soooooo mellow and mostly unfazed by all the other dogs and the cat in the house. They can lay on her, run barking to the door or run in and out of the doggy door barking and playing but Daisy just lays calmly on the couch listening and watching. When someone comes to the door, she does not bark, she simply sniffs them and goes back to doing what she does best... chilling. It is mentioned in her earlier bio that Daisy is not a great traveler. Over the past few weeks she has been on a few short trips of about 15 minutes each way. This was no problem. She had an empty tummy, a nice blanket wrapped around her and a warm lap, and she traveled like a champ. We have found Daisy is happiest when we leave her in the bedroom while we are away. She will bark when we get home to remind us where she is and to please let her out. Daisy loves snuggles and kisses! She will even gently kiss you back if you let her. This girl truly is the biggest sweetheart and is just waiting for the perfect furever family to spend her life with. Foster Mom is happy to answer any questions! Please email decollinssaol BIO (1/9/2018): Daisy found herself in rescue when her owner passed away. She is from North Carolina and is not enjoying the cold Indiana weather. Daisy has not been with us for very long, but it is obvious that she was loved and she is a very sweet little girl. Just look at that face! Her favorite place to be is next to her human under blankets. She is the best snuggle bug and has made her way into the Big Bed at night. This sweet girl is very low key and does not bark much. She seems to have a sensitive stomach and therefore is not a traveling doggy. Daisy is happiest at home with her family. She is not crate trained and does not appreciate being gated in a room or in a pen. Her wish is to sleep on the couch until you get home. If you take her out to potty every hour or so, accidents will be minimal. We are currently trying to teach her the doggy door, but with the cold weather, she would rather you join her outside! By the way, yes, her ear sticks up like that all the time! And, she is missing all her teeth so her little tongue hangs out. She is just too cute! We soften her hard food and she eats it up with no problem at all. She is very good with the other furbabies in the home including the cat. We think she would also be fine as an only dog as long as her human is home a lot. Updates will be posted as we get to know this adorable little girl better. Please feel free to email with any questions at decollinssaol. =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. She landed in rescue after her owner was moving and could not take her. Thankfully, AADR was able to take her and promise that we will find her a forever home. So here is what we know about little Athena: She is a cutie!!! Athena loves to snuggle and stay by your side. She will burrow under a blanket to stay warm as she is a Southern girl and is not used to Northern winters. Athena appears fully housebroken. She is crate trained but would prefer to sleep on a dog bed. She gets along well with male dogs – she will cuddle next to our Wally. She is all business on walks and is leash trained. Our organization received 8 of the 52 dogs. They are all scared when they are together because they feed off of each other, so we are separating them and they are slowly warming up to their foster homes. So if you have it in your heart to adopt this sweet boy, please remember he has to learn to trust you so you’ll need to be patient. With that said, he’s warmed up to his foster mom and loves to follow her from room to room and be outside in the fenced yard. This happened in about a day! He loves to snuggle with his foster mom on the couch and he’ll sleep on the couch all night long on her side of the couch. He really would do best with another well-socialized dog that he can copy and learn what it’s like to be a beloved pet. He had one accident in the house when he first came here, but now goes outside to do his business. We have a doggie door so it would be best if you did as well but if not, you'll need to take him out on a schedule. He is more than happy to follow me out when I go out into the fenced backyard. Though still a little timid, in a short time he’ll be a great pet... you’ll just need to be patient to see the end result. Oh, did we mention that because he has an under bite his tongue sticks out all the time about a half inch? Talk about CUTE!!! Make this boy happy and adopt him! =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. Due again on 3/22/19 FOSTER HOME: Wendell & Judy Morse, wendell.morseyahoo or judehoustaol RESCUE #: 2018-11-17-01 BIO UPDATE (1/15/2019): Mimi has come such a long way! She is still very nervous of loud noises and new people. When new people come to the house she will bark at them and raise a fuss for a little while but once introduced properly and given a few minutes, she warms up to them. She does NOT like little kids. She is very scared of them so therefore we have not allowed her to be around them, nor will we allow her to be adopted to a home that has or may have little children around. She is house trained to a doggie door and goes in and out on her own. When a doggie door is not an option or is closed she will prance around to let you know that she needs to go out. She is also crate trained very well. She loves her special "safe place" and sleeps in it all night without a sound and also prefers to eat her dinner and breakfast in there as well. She still has some "quirks" that will require her to go to a very dachshund savvy home but she is such a sweet little girl. In the past few days she's really started to play with her foster brother and give little kisses to mommy and daddy. She will play fetch with you until you get tired and will also play tug of war with her foster brothers. Please feel free to drop us an email if you have any questions about her. We would love to talk to you about this sweet little girl that is desperately looking for a home of her own! BIO (12/2/2018): Mimi just got to her foster home this weekend. What we can tell you right now is that she cannot go to a home with another female dog as she is an alpha female and does not get along with other females. She does get along just fine with male dogs. She will need a fenced yard and right now we are saying no young children until we know more about her. She is a beautiful Chocolate & Tan smooth coat and has all kinds of love to give. She is a little skeptical of men as we believe she was abused in her past by a male owner. She does warm up fairly quickly once you prove that you don’t want to hurt her. We will update her bio later this week as we get to know her better. If you are looking for a beautiful little girl with a ton of love, look no further! =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. Daisy was an owner surrender right here in Middle Tennessee and we believe she was abused. She is a sweet pup but can be a bit anxious in new situations. Other than that, she has no other issues. Daisy loves her human and would love a fenced yard because she loves to be outside with you and to run around. The rest of the time she'll chill in a doggie bed or on your lap or beside you on the couch just catching a movie or maybe a well deserved nap. Couldn't you please give Daisy a chance to show you she'd be a great addition to your family? Daisy is mostly Dachshund but does look to have a little of something else in her but we are not sure what... maybe Chihuahua or Beagle?? Not sure, but that doesn't take away from her sweetness! She is a great little pup looking for that perfect person to be her BFF!

Pluto is an easygoing little guy who enjoys puttering around the house and yard, and snoozing in his bed. He learns quickly, having mastered the dog door in a few days--not bad for a blind guy! Pluto gets along well with his foster's two other dogs, and should do well with a canine pal to "show him the ropes." He sleeps through the night and will do his business outside (he especially likes grass for that purpose), provided he's given the chance to do so. We are looking for a home in or near Colorado for Pluto. If you are interested in adopting this great little guy to be your best friend for life, please contact: Pals Forever Animal Rescue email: infopalsforever web: palsforever Phone: 719-528-6590 Pluto is a courtesy listing for Pals Forever in Colorado.
