    Breed: American Eskimo Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog. Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization or individual. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him/her. Current Age: 7 years Current Weight: 40 pounds Neutered Microchipped UTD on all vaccinations High Energy Good Temperament Buddy is a neutered male American Eskimo mix who needs a new home. He's playful, loving, devoted, and he loves playtime and belly rubs! In true Eskie fashion, he is slow to warm up to anyone new. His current owners received him as a gift a few months ago; they love him, but he is far too energetic for them. Buddy needs an owner experienced with Eskies or other spitz breeds that can teach him how to behave on walks, to let him know that he doesn't have to protect them, and that can socialize him. New owner would also have to continue his heartworm treatment; when current owners took him to the vet after they got him, they found out he is heart worm positive. They've begun treatment. It takes him time to warm up to other dogs, and he does not like cats. He's great with people and does best with adults, but older children should be fine. If interested in adopting Buddy or if you have any questions, please contact Lynn by email at: l.gorhamyahoo

    Foxy of FL

    Breed: American Eskimo Dog-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog / Mixed. *** Fostered in Deltona, FL *** Meet Foxy of Kissimmee, FL. Foxy is about the sweetest senior girl you could ever hope to find as a loyal and loving companion. She is estimated to be 12 years old and weighs 20 pounds. Sadly, Foxy developed glaucoma which wasn't identified until after she lost most of her vision. She was on daily eyedrops to maintain her eye pressure but it continued to increase, resulting in quite a bit of pain. It was decided the best course of action was to remove Foxy’s eyes, and she is now pain-free, has adjusted to her new world of darkness, and is doing just terrific. Foxy LOVES to be outside rolling in the grass and sunning herself. She is very content to just be with you, next to your feet or bed, and she does not get up on the furniture. She is not a barker. Since she can't see steps or swimming pools, a home with neither of these is required, and a fenced yard would be ideal. Foxy would be a good fit for single level townhouse or attached villa home. Foxy's ideal forever home would be with a caring and loving older person who is home most of the time and can provide a quiet, consistent environment. She is on daily medicine for age related urinary incontinence, which controls it with no side effects or issues. Foxy is good with all people, including well behaved kids, other dogs and even cats. Her fosters say she is gentle, sweet, and loving......just PERFECT!! Foxy is being fostered in Kissimmee, FL. If you have any questions about Foxy, please email contacteskierescuers. If you are interested in giving Foxy the wonderful forever home she deserves, please complete our online adoption application: eru.rescuegroups/forms/form?formid=327 Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him/her. I am Jax brother of Champ...twin brothers from Pittsburgh, PA. We would like to be adopted together but will settle for seperate homes. Champ is another listing. We are 10 years old (our birthday is December 16, 2008), neutered, up-to-date on our medications, house broken & crate trained. We love to be outside, help cook in the kitchen & help to clean up the floors from when our human brother drops his food (we even go the extra mile & lick his hands when they are messy). We love to snuggle in bed & sometimes share your pillow. We are protective of our humans but quickly warm up when guests come to see us. We need a slow introduction to other dogs & we've never met a cat. We like to constantly be around our humans, but don't get sad when they leave (no separation anxiety). We usually are in the know around the house because we help with laundry, daily chores & even accompany our humans to the bathroom in case they need help. Our humans are having a hard time keeping up with our energetic lifestyle since the newest little human was introduced February 2018. Our mom used to take us on long walks in the park on Gentle Leaders (we don't do well on our regular collars because we are very curious & like to pull). We also had a fence at our old house which we loved. Our new house doesn't have a fence but there are a dog parks nearby. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him/her. For more information Contact ohioeskierescueoutlook Our little Bebe is a special dog...looking for that special new Momma. She was born in a Amish puppy mill or backyard breeder that supplies puppies to Petland her in Ohio. She lived in a crate at birth...was purchased...then lived her life in a crate again. She was tormented by kids/brats...then hit by the girlfriends boyfriend. So she is not fond of kids or men. I don't really blame her. She was then dumped at a local shelter who contacted Anne, then they went and bought a new puppy. Bebe is doing really well with Anne and the Eskie herd. She really likes other dogs. At 3 yrs old, she needed a dental badly, and had one in November 2016. She was then diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called stomatitis. It caused blisters on the gums and they bleed. We have it under control with a daily pill of Atopica and we spray her teeth 3 times a day. The spray kills the bacteria that causes the sores. It is a painful disease, but it does not stop her from being the fun loving and affectionate pooch that she is. She is up for adoption with Ohio American Eskimo Rescue. Email us at ohioeskierescueoutlook for an application. Please email us at ohioeskierescueoutlook here in Ohio for an application. We will not ship or transport our dogs; you have to come to Ohio so we can meet you. FOSTERS NEED...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: American Eskimo Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog. ***FOSTER HOMES NEEDED*** ***Click here for >> Foster Application*** Eskie Rescuers United rescues stray, orphaned, unwanted or abused Eskies from humane societies, pounds, shelters, or from owners who need to find a new home for their Eskies. We are ALWAYS in need of foster homes for these dogs until they can be adopted. It's vacation season and people are leaving town- and dumping their dogs!! We're desperate for foster homes-- help!! The primary role of the foster home is to evaluate the new Eskie as to health, behavior and temperament, as follows: HEALTH Determine what medical needs the Eskie has, such as routine vaccinations, heartworm tests (and heartworm treatment, if necessary), being spayed/neutered, having their teeth cleaned, etc. In the case of our more severely abused or neglected dogs, the foster home ensures that the dog gets the medical attention required to get him/her back to optimal health. BEHAVIOR AND TEMPERAMENT 1. Evaluate the dog for behavioral issues and work to correct any undesirable traits exhibited by the dog. These may include not being housebroken, needing basic obedience training (including learning to walk on a leash), excessive barking, etc. 2. Evaluate the dog's temperament: is he/she friendly, aggressive, shy, scared, submissive? How does the dog get along with other dogs, cats, children, men, women, strangers, and so on? The foster home will then be responsible for providing the proper training and socialization needed to make the dog adoptable. After the assessment and vetting of the dog, the foster home provides ERU with bio information and pictures, so the dog can be posted on ERU's website and on Petfinder. Sometimes our foster homes also participate in adoption events that provide additional exposure both to the foster dog and to Eskie Rescuers United. ERU pays for the cost of all vetting and medical needs of our foster dogs, including heartworm and flea/tick medications. The foster home provides for the dog's food, treats and toys and is not reimbursed for those expenses by ERU. Fostering a rescue dog can be a lot of work and responsibility. Some of these dogs were never provided proper socialization or medical care, and therefore are not perfectly behaved or impeccably groomed. MANY of our fosters come from deplorable situations and may need a lot of tender loving care to get them cleaned up, be taught how to trust again, or just simply realize what it's like to be loved and cherished! Before applying to become a new foster home, please ask yourself (and your family members) if you have enough time and patience, as well as the understanding of the Eskie breed, to care properly for a rescue dog. Fostering can be an incredibly rewarding labor of love, and you can make all the difference in the world to the dog(s) you foster. If you are interested in fostering an Eskie, please go to: our website, .eskierescuers and sign-in and complete a foster application. Thank you for your interest in wanting to help care for these beautiful white dogs! "Saving just one dog won't change the world... ...but surely, the world will change for that one dog!" Breed: American Eskimo Dog

Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog (medium coat). Basil is a wonderful loving Eskie. He loves petting, okay with brushing, and plays well with my Eskie, Bailey. He does not like cats, and I have been teaching him to walk on a leash. I have been working with him on this and he is better than he was when he got here. Like most Eskies, he is very protective of his world. He barks at the door, and howls when the phone rings. In fact, I think Basil would make a great therapy companion for someone who visits hospitals or nursing homes. He is very loving to everyone, even children. He is very comfortable around strangers who want to pet him. I do have a doggy door and he has learned to use it to come and go in the backyard with no problem. Basil is a wonderful boy who would love a family to play with and give his attention to. For a senior, he has the spunk and playfulness of a 5 year old. He loves with his heart, and will sit beside you contently for time on end. Basil will need a fenced in yard because he has a lot of energy to expend. He does love to do his zoomies!! Dolly of Mai...

    Breed: American Eskimo Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog (medium coat). Please contact Cindy (peskie_eskieshughes) for more information about this pet. Needs experienced owner(s). Dolly is being fostered in MAINE. EXPERIENCED OWNER'S ONLY! March 23rd Update: Dolly was sometimes limping on an off an after comparative X-rays of her right front leg and left leg it turns out she has slight bone loss in her right front "elbow". This is totally manageable with OTC hip/joint supplements and salmon oil. The supplements are inexpensive and once again allows Dolly to happily bounce up and down on her front legs when she thinks my dinner is actually for her. The salmon oil (Omega-3) is also bringing her fur back to it's former glory. The supplements do nothing for her pitiful little face and soft howl when I refuse to give her my meal! March 6th: Oops! Several weeks ago Dolly did bite my hand when I needed to take away her bully stick. I grabbed it before her three Eskie hosts could grab it from her. It hurt but no stitches required. Dolly was never trained to "leave" or "drop" something she can not have. Except for dry kibble she is very protective of food and treats. She does gently take treats. Now I can pet her while she has a precious treat and she only grumbles at me. March 1, 2019 Dolly has been with me awhile but needs her own home. From her first foster mom's write-up and mine is almost sounds like two different dogs. Here, very quiet, no cats or children and with few visitors she has settled into her own routine. Dolly does not make a good first impression. She is very slow to warm up and her forever home needs to respect that. There is not a lot of history concerning her first 7-8 years. Her forever family needs to give her space and time...this could take weeks. Once Dolly is comfortable she will be a great companion and cuddler. Her stranger danger attitude may or may not improve. Adults who have experienced a sometimes fearful dog will work well with this tiny girl. This 8 year old girl is in need of a new home by no fault of her own. She is down to 20 pounds, spayed and up to date with shots. She arrived very over weight and still needs to lose a few pounds. I believe she was fed a lot of human food as she has a soft, sad howl when I stand by the stove and do not give her my food. Thankfully her beautiful teeth are of a much younger dog. UPDATE January 14th, 2019: The comments in green are from her first foster mom. Every foster home is different and here she melded perfectly with her three veteran Eskie hosts. She does not play with them but gets along with no problems. This foster home is very quiet without children and people coming and going. Not the best for stranger testing but really good for seeing the best in my temporary loves. Dolly would do well with a companion dog who did not get in her business. She would also due well as an only dog with owners could help her with socialization. Dolly is not a fan of stairs. It can be an effort with her little legs. When she arrived by Paws n' Pilots (thank you) she lunged at me and snapped. I ignored her on the ride home and within a few hours she napped/cuddled with me with no problem. She is a non issue angel once she is comfortable. I respect her "comfort clock" and work with it. Dolly adores leash walks and is also a very good girl in the car. Tummy rubs are a favorite. Cuddling up for a nap is wonderful. She is so little you do not feel her except for her warmth. She is not a licker/kisser. Dolly needs an experienced owner who understands the "wait and see" attitude of Eskies. She is NOT for a first time Eskie owner. Dolly needs people socialization. Dolly was very stressed at the veterinarian's as she did not have time to check them out. My veterinarians are extremely kind and patient with my dogs but little Dolly needed to be muzzled. If you have the patience or training to help her through her wariness of strangers you may be the right home. First Foster Home: Dolly loves to run around in the backyard with the kids and will do that for hours but as soon as she comes in, she'll jump in your lap. She loves her family and is a terrific little girl, but is very slow to warm up to strangers. They must let her approach them on her own terms. She will bark at them, eventually settle down, as we said, when she is ready. She has never bitten anyone nor tried to bite. Dolly really never has been around other dogs so proper introduction will be a must. Recently, she started barking at other dogs and people when on hikes. She will need some work on socialization. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him/her. Max is a super-sweet little Eskie boy, who is looking for his forever home. He was born blind, but that doesn't slow him down a bit! He's great with the other dogs in his foster home, and knows which blankie is his on the couch. He's very smart, listens when spoken to, and loves to snuggle with his foster mom. He also follows her all over the house when she's home, and sleeps under her bed at night. His foster mom says he's a complete love!! He will bark when someone new comes to the house, but warms up to them quickly. He would do best in a home where someone has the time to train him, and get him comfortable with going outside for walks. He is also trained to use potty pads.
