Posted Breed: Vizsla / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). We welcome specific questions. Due to the high volume of applications, we may not be able to respond immediately. Your patience is appreciated. If an animal is on our website, it is still available but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, it is in your best interest to submit an application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application. As an all-volunteer, foster home based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we must give priority to pre-approved applicants. Ellie is a 1.5-2 year old spayed female Vizsla/lab mix who weighs about 47 pounds. Ellie was adopted from ARF about a year ago and unfortunately, one of her family member's health declined to the point that the family can no longer care for her. They were devastated to have to return Ellie, as she is a very sweet, affectionate girl. Ellie is a smart one too - she knows a lot of commands! She knows sit/stay/settle/no/out/potty(for #1)/business (for #2)/bed (her dog bed). She was actually a certified service animal for a young boy with autism, however, since coming to an ARF foster home, we feel Ellie would do best in a home with respectful children over 8 years old. Vizslas are known as “velcro dogs” and Ellie fits this description. She will follow you throughout the house and quietly lie right next to you. She is well behaved and sleeps quietly through the night. Ellie is not destructive and does not need to be crated. She is sometimes fearful of new situations but is “all bark, no bite”. She would do best in a home where she is not frequently left home alone for long periods. Ellie is good with other dogs, socializing with other dogs at doggy daycare. She could stand to lose a few pounds but don’t judge her, couldn’t we all? Ellie is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and spayed . Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Ellie ' s adoption fee is $ 300 . A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Ellie fill out an online application today! arf-il/application.html Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. .style1 { text-decoration: underline; } .style2 { text-align: center; } .style3 { font-size: large; } If you’re invited to meet an animal, please plan to arrive on time or early, as we cannot hold animals. All household members must be present at time of adoption, including dogs . We appreciate your cooperation!

If companionship is what you are looking for, look no further!! Cinnamon is a ‘special senior’. He came to ARF because he went blind. He is a sweet 15 year old Yorkie with nothing but love to give and belly scratches to enjoy. He has had a dental and is on a diet because he was a little rolly polly. Cinnamon is looking for a loving, caring home to spend his last years. Even though someone gave up on him, he is not giving up on life! He is very gentle and gets along with other dogs (big and little) and cats, but Cinnamon would love a home where he gets all the lap time to himself . He loves all people (adults and children) but would probably do best in a home with older children due to his blindness. Can you find room in your home and in your heart for this sweet little ol' guy? Cinnamon is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations and neutered. Cinnamon' s adoption fee is $100. Jack Frost is a 10 year old Chinese Hairless Crested with the most amazing personality. He was dumped at a kill shelter with no reason given—likely because there was no real reason. He is blind in his right eye and has very limited vision in his left eye due to the severity of his cataracts. He acts like he can see quite well in a well lit room and outside. He is able to go up and down stairs. He doesn’t bump into things and can zero in on his people wherever they are for pets, cuddles, and love. Sugar Plum is a 4-5 year old chug, Chihuahua-pug, that would love to be the only animal in the life of an elder or couple who need a companion to sit and watch TV or snuggle with. Sugar Plum had a hard beginning in life and has come a long way to becoming socialized to where she is a real lover. She will sit on you lap as long as you want, snuggle by your side as you watch TV, or sleep with you all night long. Sugar Plum knows about going outside to potty but she also knows how to use potty pads if you can not let her out for a length of time. She walks on a leash like a lady and does not pull or try to trip you. Sugar Plum weighs in at 18 pounds and loves treats and toys, but most important to her are belly rubs. Ace is a 7 year old neutered male small lab mix, weighing in at 22 pounds. Ace came to us after being surrendered by his former owners. He was barking when left alone in his crate and the landlord said he had to go. This sweet little man just wants to be your companion. He is very happy to follow you around and curl up nearby or on your lap. He would love to sleep on your bed with you! He enjoys stuffed animals and soft chew toys. Ace rides well in a car, pulls a bit on a leash and is well housetrained. He quickly started ringing the bell on the door to go out. He has a wonderfully expressive face and despite his face looking like an older dog, he happily prances around the house. He knows the commands sit, stay, and off. He’s bright and just wants to please. He has given a couple of little warning growls when sleeping and startled by someone reaching in to touch his face, so small children in the home would not be a good idea. ARF requests children be age 10 or older. Just talking to him or touching him from the side seems to be fine and does not illicit the same reaction. Ace will do best in a quiet home (no apartments) with someone who is home most of the time and willing to help Ace relieve some anxiety through vigorous exercise like running. His fosters are working on getting him more comfortable in his crate and hope he will decide this is a great place to be when he needs some down time. He is ready to be adopted and we will miss this affectionate little guy when he is no longer snuggling up to us. Ace is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered. Hello, I am Jasmine, a lovely and elegant 2 year-old, 10 pound Chinese-crested Powder Puff/Poodle mix! I am told how gorgeous I am with my beautiful blonde mane and charming little under bite…and I am also just as sweet as a girl can be. I am more than just a lap dog, too, as I am inquisitive and smart! I also love cuddling and sleeping with my humans AND with my tuxedo-colored brother Aladdin. Princess Jasmine and her handsome brother Aladdin are new to ARF and are looking for their forever family—hopefully together—as they have been with each other their entire lives. They follow each other and their foster parents everywhere. They are both crate-trained during the day and are left loose in the house at night and when the foster family is at home. Aladdin and Jasmine trot through the yard together in tandem with fox-like grace…and from a distance, Jasmine actually looks like a sleek little vixen with that gorgeous blond mane flowing in the breeze. Once back inside, the pair enjoys looking out the family room window to watch the squirrels scamper in the yard. Jasmine is also very affectionate and loves to bounce from one couch to the other, giving kisses at every pass. It is not known if she has ever met a cat, however, she is good with other dogs and defers to the Alpha of the pack. Both Jasmine and Aladdin are house-trained and will make wonderful additions to some lucky family, so get your applications in quickly before Aladdin and Jasmine disappear before your very eyes! Preference will be given to applicants wishing to adopt them together. Jasmine is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and spayed. Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Jasmine' s adoption fee is $350. Hello - I am Cesar, a fun and loving 2 year old chihuahua mix. I weigh 12 pounds, am microchipped and up to date on shots. I have a beautiful brown coat. I am good with other dogs but not cats or some men. I was found as a stray in Chicago and have been in a foster home with other smaller dogs for a few weeks getting settled into home life. I am a laid back guy, given that I do need a regular walk as I am still a young dog. I am hoping for a new family soon! I am house trained. I am a good watch dog, but don’t bark a lot as some chihuahuas do. I like to sleep under the covers right next to my human foster.
