Labrador Retriever
Labrador, Lab
The Labrador Retriever is probably America's favorite dog. He is playful (well into his adult years) and is often seen as a lifelong friend.
Great Pyredane
The Great Pyredane is a cross between an Great Dane and a Great Pyrenees. The Great Pyredane is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Great Dane and a Great Pyrenees. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Great Pyredane are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. We currently do not have more detailed information for this breed.
Great Dane
Deutsche Dogge, German Mastiff
The Great Dane is a huge dog with a sweet and gentle nature. He needs a lot of space for exercise, though he can be very calm and well-behaved indoors.
Golden Retriever
Yellow Retriever
The Golden Retriever has a great personality and is easy to train, making this one of America's favorite family pets. They are good hunting companions and also great with kids.
Mutt
A mongrel, mixed-breed dog
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
Pomeranian-Unknown
This breed is a cross between an Pomeranian and a Unknown. This breed is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Pomeranian and a Unknown. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the it are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. We currently do not have more detailed information for this breed.
American Bulldog
Originally used in the 17th century for bull baiting—a wagering sport in which dogs fought bulls in a ring—Bulldogs had taller, more athletic frames (much like the Olde English Bulldogge). When bull baiting was outlawed in 1835, Bulldogs were bred to be kinder, heavier and more relaxed. However, American Bulldogs—which were brought to the U.S. before this breeding pattern—retained the size and strength of the original Bulldogs. Great family dogs, American Bulldogs are sweet to children. They love family-oriented occasions and want to be involved. With proper training and socialization, you’ll find them outgoing and exceedingly loyal. Some American Bulldogs will go to great lengths to protect their masters. Tough and determined, American Bulldogs have an impressive stamina and strength. They are always game for playtime in the back yard or working in the field.
Black Mouth Cur
The Black Mouth Cur is for hunting in the Southern USA. They make good pets and love children.
