    Oliver

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Oliver is about 1-2 years old. He is about 25 lbs, 18 inches tall and long. He learned the doggie door. Oliver is a SUPER sweet and SUPER smart dog!! I have no idea what he is... Terrier Mix? Springer Mix? Pointer Mix? I just call him Breed Adorable. He has a very strong prey drive and has worked very hard to learn how to leave the cat alone but the squirrels in the yard have been cussing at him from the tree tops. He picks up tricks and commands VERY fast!! It took just a few minutes to teach him Sit, Down, Off, Come, Shake and he's working on Stay. He's also learned to Fetch. He is a young and active dog. He would make a GREAT running or hiking partner. He does love to play and run around so he will need activity in his life to make sure all that energy gets expressed in healthy, happy ways. He rides in the car well and he gets along with EVERYONE (new people, kids and dogs and, eventually, cats). He loves to chew on bones, chase down stuffies, fight with his blanket and snuggle on the couch. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranaged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.

    Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix

    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Toby is handsome scruff boy with wire hair. He is about 7 months old. Toby is about 40lbs. He was well loved but just too much for an apartment and someone working and going to school. He is a very playful boy so will need a yard and someone to play with him and continue training him. Toby would love a yard to run in. He does know some commands. He loves playing with other dogs (he use to go to doggie daycare). He is good with kids. His foster has kids all ages. He is sweet and lovable but again active. He loves a good toy and will defluff almost anything. He loves to play tug of war. He is kennel trained and will be vocal when he needs to go outside. He is in the chewing stage so watch what you leave out. Toby can and will jump a standard chain link fence. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $250 donation is requested at the time of adoption. Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Terrier / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Eddie is a sweet boy. He is 3 yrs old about 40lbs, we are not sure what he is, maybe a terrier/lab. We call him cute breed. He is housetrained and great with other dogs. He is good with women and children, he is hit and miss with men it is really random, some he loves others not so much. He is active so a yard would be great or someone who likes to do stuff outside. He does love to play and really likes a good sock to chew. He can jump a regular fence so you would have to be out with him or have a tall fence (not a fan of bicycles or motorcycles). Loves to snuggle at bedtime also likes to be held like a infant, on the hip lol. Super fast learner at tricks. Knows sit, lay, roll over, speak, shake and "cricus trick" which is hind legs and spins around To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $150 donation is requested at the time of adoption. Guinness *Mi...

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Adoption Fee: $125. German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (.heartlandgsrescue) "Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?" for additional information. Guinness is a calm and loving guy, and a sweet soft teddy bear! We rescued Guinness from a high kill shelter in CA, where he was running out of time due to lack of space. It was painfully obvious that Guiness had not had an easy life, as his coat was in poor condition, he had fly strike on his ears from being kept as a neglected, outdoor dog. Guinness couldn't be happier and more grateful to be in a loving foster home. He loves his people and is what you might call a "velcro dog." With good care and nutrition, he has transformed into a regal, majestic boy. He takes treats like a gentleman and gently tongues them out of your hand. He is crate-trained and potty-trained. He loves to play ball out in the yard and enjoys stuffed toys as well. Guiness will often choose to curl up on a blanket over his dog bed. He really enjoys car rides and outings. He knows "sit" and "kennel up." Guiness is a sweet guy who truly just wants to please his humans. Guiness prefers calm, mellow dogs, although he gets along with a sweet, submissive female in his foster home, who is teaching him how to play and be more laid back! Guiness would love to be an only dog, as he loves people best, and his favorite thing is to hang out with his humans. Guinness' minimum adoption fee is $125, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply. ADOPTING A SENIOR: Seniors have so much love and life in them, and bring much happiness to the wonderful families who adopt them. They are calmer, more mellow, require considerably less exercise, and are just as fun, loyal, and loving as younger dogs. Seniors are an excellent choice for first-time GSD owners or for anyone looking for a low-key, mellow companion! HUGS SENIOR REPEAT ADOPTER PROGRAM: When you adopt a HUGS senior, and later come back back to adopt another senior, you are eligible to pay a reduced senior adoption fee of $125. Thank you for loving these wonderful, very deserving dogs, as much as we do! Please review the information in the "About Us", "Important Considerations" and "Adopt" sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.

When he arrived with his brother Beckett, both of them were so neglected and starved, that at 9 months old, they only weighed around 38 lbs each. They were full of ticks, infested with hookworms, anemic, and extremely emaciated. These poor boys had even given up, and did not even want to eat any more. Thanks to proper vet care, good food, and love, that is all in the past! Both of them are strong, happy, and healthy, and is ready for (separate) furever homes! Both of them are exceptionally sweet and wonderfully laid-back. Caesar has a brindle coat, like a Dutch Shepherd. Beckett has more traditional GSD black & tan markings. Caesar is an amazing approx 10 month old pup who would make a perfect addition to just about any family! He is a little shy at first in new situations, but he warms up quickly. He is very loving, adores his people, and plays very well with other dogs. He absolutely LOVES running and playing outside with his humans and pack, and showing off the prize sticks that he finds! He is well-behaved in the house, and is a perfect cuddling companion who will lay with you for as long as you want him to! He is quiet and sweet, playful and funny... and smart to top it all off! Caesar is potty-trained and crate trained. He walks well on a leash. He does well on car rides and knows his basic commands. Malone is an adorable, sweet young boy who was rescued from a crowded kill shelter in Oklahoma. He is a 72lb, goofy, super nice, 1 year old GSD who will melt your heart! From the moment you come home until the moment you leave, he’ll be at your side and ready to play. He loves following his humans around the home to help with chores and especially loves playing with his two older fur siblings (a Labrador and GSD mix). Malone has already come a long way since his arrival and is eager to learn. His infectious smile is impossible to ignore, and his inquisitive head tilt will melt your heart. Malone is still a puppy, and is as likely to trot gracefully, as he is to clumsily trip over himself. He is at that adorable, awkward puppyish stage where he is learning not to mouth, and he might bump his nose into the nearest chair, table, or human leg as he prances around! His silly antics provide a backdrop of comic relief as he grows into himself and into being a loved family pet. Malone loves interacting with other dogs. He is friendly toward strangers and is eager to meet (and play!) with every dog he sees. This excitement leads to a tendency to bark and pull towards other dogs while on walks, so continued leash training will be necessary. Malone is house-broken and kennel-trained. He is intelligent and is learning quickly, and is working on basic commands like Sit, Stay, Leave It. Ever eager to please, Malone responds well to verbal affirmation, a scratch behind the ears, or an extra tasty treat like a morsel of meat. The perfect home for Malone will be an active home with prior GSD experience that is ready to open itself up to all the love and excitement that Malone will bring. Malone's adoption fee is $350, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.
