Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats 4/9/18: Aqua spent the weekend with us and we absolutely love her! She is the affectionate, “I wanna crawl inside of you” type dog. Aqua is a sensitive gal and really wants to please her person. She prefers to be with you as much as possible and will benefit from some additional positive experiences with her kennel. She does whine and cry initially when going in so may not do well with shared walls. We have a houseful of dogs, both big and small (5 total) and Aqua does great with all except one. Our larger, slightly annoying male just doesn’t rub her the right way. When she decides to snark at him, she is easily corrected and it never escalates but all interactions should be closely monitored; as with any new dog intros. She does seem to want to play with other dogs though and has a lot of puppy charisma. All in all, Aqua is a gem. She had been doing great with her housetraining and couldn’t be a more affectionate, friendly little gal! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

    Breed: Border Collie-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Border Collie / Mixed (short coat). King is a black lab and border collie mix dog with short, black fur and white fur on his chest and toes. He was approximately born in July or August 2017 and he currently weighs 55 pounds, but he has A LOT of growing up to do! Have you ever seen the movie "Up"? King's and Dug's personalities are alike. King LOVES to jump on people (it feels like he's going to tackle us like a linebacker and we're trying to train him to stop doing that) and LOVES to bark, to say, "HI! I LOVE YOU! ARE WE GOING FOR A WALK? DID YOU BRING ANOTHER DOG FOR ME TO PLAY WITH? ...SQUIRREL!!" King cannot be with small animals such as cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, or any other animals he can chase-- besides dogs-- King loves other dogs! He's a friendly but wild, "little" guy. He's a sweet boy, but he needs A LOT of training! We've been practicing the "sit" command and he's doing well with it. King dislikes going back into his kennel and we have to wrestle him back in it if treats don't work. He can be a HUGE cuddler after he winds down a bit and is tired. King is up-to-date on his vaccinations, tested negative for heartworm and Lyme disease, has been given flea and tick preventative, and is neutered. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, NO Cats, Older considerate children only Zander is full of spunk and wants someone to enjoy life with! Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats, Older considerate children only 4/11/18: Meet Zander – Zander is a young playful guy that is looking for his forever home. He loves to play fetch and chew up his tennis balls. He hasn’t quite learned how to drop the ball on the return though. Zander is young at heart and needs to learn some basic obedience. He will need someone to work with him on this to shape him into a wonderful boy. Since he has been living in a shelter setting for many months he does have some quirks we are working on. He has tested well with other dogs; however, he gets overly excited to see them if he cannot get to them in close proximity. This is something we are working on; as he feels it should always be play time. Due to his high play drive and the need for obedience training, he is listed as older children only. Daily mental and physical exercise are a must for Zander. Zander has been in a foster short term since coming to the rescue. He crates very well and is usually quiet. He sleeps through the night and is not destructive in his kennel. Zander has also proven to be potty trained. 3/18/18: Zander is a spunky little guy, with lots of energy! He knows how to sit and is very treat and toy motivated. He’s super smart and would be a great candidate for basic obedience class. He loves to play with toys, chase balls and chew on bones! Zander’s pretty good at keeping himself entertained, but I think he would be a great running buddy. Or long walks on the beach (or in the snow) if you are into that sort of thing. He, unfortunately, spent 60 days in a regional pound, which is not ideal for a young, energetic dog! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Buizer is a very sweet, bouncy, happy boy who loves to give kisses. It takes him a little bit to warm up to new situations so he comes across as fearful at first, but he does warm up pretty fast. He enjoys spending time with his people, children, and other dogs. He should not be in a home with cats. Bruizer is a young boy and has lots of love to share. His goofy personality will melt your heart. This guy would love someone who would take him everywhere and work on positive reinforcement. Bruizer is very smart and would do great showing off those skills. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip Rush is a cute guy who needs a home! Foster Home Feedback 2/7/18: Rush has been with us for over a month now, and he has really settled in nicely. He gets along with all of the dogs he has met, but sometimes he needs reminding to leave our old cranky dog alone since he always wants to play. Rush is improving walking on a leash as well as his manners in the home. He is practically a Houdini when it comes to counter-surfing, so that is something we watch closely and are working with him on. Rush is incredibly smart, and he is responding well to training. He is a dog that really benefits from training and mental stimulation during these cold months! We can only guess that Rush would love to go on jogs with people, but his foster parents are not into running. Now that Rush has really settled down and has become less fearful in the home, we have found out that he LOVES to snuggle and cuddle!! He will come and sit on your lap on the couch or curl up next to you (or on top of you if you let him!) if you are laying in bed. Rush has figured out how to use the cozy cave dog bed and likes to go in there to hang out. Rush still acts a little puppy-ish, so small children are probably not the best match for him. He has met older, considerate children and done very well with them. Please consider adding this sweet and energetic boy to your family! 1/14/18: Rush is a sweet young boy with a lot of energy to share! He loves to follow his humans around the house, go for walks, and chew on his dog toys. Rush can be anxious when he meets new people, but he is working on it with his foster parents. This is something that new adopters will need to continue working on with him. Rush kennels during the day while his foster parents are at work. He is still getting used to being calm in his kennel, so he occasionally barks when he is in there. Because of his nervousness and anxiety, he is on a medication that helps keep him more calm and comfortable. Once Rush knows you and warms up to you, he will expect cuddles and pets from you! He met a cat and did just fine with the cat. Rush LOVES to play, play, play with other dogs and really enjoys their company. He would probably do best in a home with another dog, especially a dog that would like to play with him! Rush has not been around small children yet, but he still acts like a silly puppy sometimes and occasionally gets a little mouthy, so this is something adopters with children should keep in mind. He is a smart little guy looking for a home with patient adopters that are willing to help continue his training! Have a question? Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. FOSTER HOME NEEDED Statistics Name: Eleanor Breed: German Shepherd Dog Age: 1.5 Years Size: Medium 55 lbs. ~Medium range: 26-60 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, NO Cats Eleanor would love to get your attention! Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats 3/15/18: Eleanor is a wonderful dog that is super sweet and playful. She would be great with another very playful and tolerant dog, preferably middle to large sized, or she would be great as an only dog. She loves to play and can be pretty persistent, so you want a dog that will stand on its own. Right now Eleanor is living with two dogs and two cats. The dogs are all herding breeds so there is a lot of energy in the house. My other German Shepherd and Eleanor play wonderfully together outside for hours and hours. My Border Collie doesn’t want much to do with her, so if Eleanor tries to engage with him, he can stand his ground. She keeps trying and then takes the cue. When Eleanor is trying to engage play, she will bark. It is not aggressive, just talkative and persistent. If you have another dog, I don’t know that I would recommend an apartment. If she will be the only dog, then there is a possibility it could work. Eleanor is very smart and learns really quickly and wants to please. She does need some training and has picked up on so much already. Eleanor bonds with her trainer so I think this would be a great activity for the adopter, to do some training and walking with her. This morning I walked all three dogs for the first time. After a couple of minutes, they all walked well together. Eleanor can live with cats, but it won’t come for free. What I mean by this is, she isn’t aggressive, but curious. She knows the “look at me” when the cat is there and that is a great exercise for her. When she sees a cat run out of the corner of her eye, she does go into search mode, but this is also something that she can be distracted from. She took a couple of cat claws to the face from my cat and was fine. She really wants to smell the cats and even tried to bark and engage my braver cat in play. I was able to discourage her from this but I still monitor the situation. So I think that someone who is willing to do the training and make sure she is exercised so she isn’t only looking to a cat for play and to burn her energy, then she will be ok. Eleanor loves to bond and stay close to you, she kennels well and is an awesome dog. I think she is going to make the greatest and most bonded friend for someone that is willing to give her some walks for exercise, some training, and discipline. The love you get in return with that super cute black, fluffy face will be priceless. 2/22/18: We’ve only had Eleanor for 16 hours and this is what I know in a very short time... I picked her up after her spay, and she ran up to me, covering my face with sloppy puppy kisses! Definitely loves her humans! She is also dog-friendly despite my own dogs wanting absolutely nothing to do with her! Eleanor has pottied outside every time we go out so there have been no accidents in the house. She is definitely a puppy. A BIG unruly clumsy puppy with absolutely NO manners! She jumps on us and pulls me down the street while on walks! She definitely needs some obedience training. She did sleep well in her crate last night so all in all, Eleanor is settling in nicely! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Statistics Name: Mortimer Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix Age: 1 Year Size: Medium 33 lbs. ~Medium range: 26-60 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No children Mortimer wants someone to show him that the world is not scary. Foster Home Feedback * No children 4/2/18: We’ve had Mortimer, aka Morty, for 5 months and he has really settled into our routine. He loves to hang out in his kennel during the work day, eating his frozen peanut butter kong and chewing on his bone. He is kenneled right next to our two dogs and that is his favorite. When we have kenneled him away from our dogs, he really struggles and becomes a little vocal. Morty would love a doggy sibling to show him the ropes in his new home and also show him that his new people are there to love and spoil him. He really looks to our two dogs for guidance and has learned so much from just observing them. Once we’re home from work, he is ready to hang out with me and soak up all the cuddles. He is a very go with the flow kind of guy, never demanding anything from us. Mortimer still steers clear of my husband. He goes one step forward and two steps backward constantly when it comes to living with a man. He definitely needs a female-only home and I must say I cannot wait to see how much he will grow in his perfect female-only, kid-free forever home. When I’m home alone with him (I’m female) he can still be skittish at times but the leaps and bounds he has made is truly heart-bursting. He really lets his personality shine when he’s with just females. Seeing this boy happy and wiggly and give out kisses left and right can warm the heart of even the coldest person. Morty is fearful in most situations, especially when out in public, but as long as he has an understanding human who will guide him through life he is golden. When out on walks he is a perfect gentleman on the leash (he walks better than my two dogs!) and reacts like a gentleman when he sees other dogs. He is a little shy of dogs but warms up quickly. When meeting new people he is usually frozen in fear and doesn’t want to interact with them but after spending a little time with them, he will willingly take treats from them. He plays hard to get but he is so worth it. Morty is by far the most fearful foster we have had, but he is SO worth every ounce of effort put in and I know once he is in a female-only home, he will drastically improve. He shows fear by shutting down, shaking, avoiding eye contact. etc. He has NEVER, ever, shown aggression towards a human. He is the cutest, most compact little Pittie I have ever met (he’s only 33 pounds!) and I promise you the first time you see him let loose and be a happy care-free dog you will be hooked. Please give this boy a chance, you won’t regret it. 1/3/18: Mortimer is a very special dog who is going to need a very special home who has the patience, love and understanding of an angel. He came to us a little over two months ago now and although he has shown improvement he is still an incredibly scared, shy, and insecure dog. Mortimer is terrified of humans and although he is showing some trust in me, his foster mom, he has shown little to no improvement with warming up to my husband. He displays absolutely no aggression, he's just frozen in fear in the presence of men, so his ideal home would be that of females-only. Because of his fearfulness of humans he should not go to a home with kids as their quick movements and loud noises will be too terrifying for him. When first meeting other animals, Mortimer is a little shy but warms up quickly to them (he has met both cats and dogs) and really takes comfort with other dogs around so should go to a home with another dog who is willing to show him that this world and it's humans are not so scary. Mortimer loves to cuddle up with our animals and it's been absolutely heart-bursting to see him run around with our female dog and play and show glimpses of being the goofy dog we know deep down he is. Mortimer kennels great at night and during the day when we're gone. We have never heard him bark but he has made some squealy noises in his kennel if he hears us leave with our dogs and he's had to stay home alone. Other than that he's as quiet as a mouse. Mortimer is also pretty well potty-trained as long as he is let out consistently. Mortimer is currently on anxiety meds so his adopter must be prepared for this monthly expense. Her previous owner said that Ellie is 1/2 Jack Russell Terrier, 1/4 Yorkie, and 1/4 Poodle. Ellie's short fur is mainly black. She has a white chest and her tippy toes are also white. She is easily excited and will tinkle a little bit when she's with someone she adores. She likes to cuddle with people and play with other dogs, as long as the dogs don't nip at her body.
