German Shepherd Dog

The German Shepherd is unmatched in character and courage. These dogs make great companions because they are loyal and have the heightened senses of an excellent watch dog. At the same time, they can be gentle and playful companions for children.

The Texas Heeler is a cross between an Australian Cattle Dog and a Australian Shepherd. The Texas Heeler is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Australian Cattle Dog and a Australian Shepherd. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Texas Heeler are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
