American Pit Bull Terrier

The American Pit Bull was originally bred for dog fighting and gained a reputation as a vicious animal. Can be a loyal and affectionate pet when trained and socialized properly.

The Labrador Retriever is probably America's favorite dog. He is playful (well into his adult years) and is often seen as a lifelong friend.

The American Bandogge is a cross between an Bulldog and a Mastiff. The American Bandogge is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Bulldog and a Mastiff. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the American Bandogge are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
