Posted Breed: French Bulldog / Labrador Retriever. Adoption Fee: 300. Adoption fee: $300 + $200 deposit (refundable after spay) Location: Houston area Puppy Breath Alert Let's play, Let's play...My name is Katrina and I am a mix of French Bulldog/Unknown and I am oh so cute. My mother Gretel was surrendered by a person that found her stray and realized that she was pregnant and could not care for all of us. Myself and 5 other tail wagging siblings came into the world via C-section and we all have been growing like weeds. I am healthy, happy, eating puppy food on my own and learning all about toys. I am sweet, mellow, moderate energy and love to nibble. I am the boss of all the other puppies and I will definitely be a DIVA. Respectful children 10+ would be ok with me and I need a family where I can be let out multiple times a day to potty. I am now in search of my forever home, so if you would like to have a tail wagging good time fill out an adoption application today. Katrina will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract. The adopter will be responsible for finishing her puppy shots and having her spayed by 6 months of age. After proof of this is provided an Adoption contract will be completed and the adoption finalized. A spay deposit is taken at time of approval of adoption and refunded after proof of vetting is provided.

More About French Bulldog Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Pug. Adoption Fee: 350. Adoption fee: $350 Location: Houston area Tiny and sweet......Hi, my name is Chai and I am a darling 5 yr old Pug girl who was taken to the shelter after the people who found me decided after a few months not to keep me. SMRS welcomed me with open arms and provided me with all my necessary medical care including a spay, microchip, vaccines and the removal of a mass cell tumor which came off with clean margins. I am now ready for my forever home, so let me tell you a bit about me. I am a submissive gal who is house trained, good with dog respectful children and I am especially fond of the 10 yr old in my foster home. I am crate trained, but I will bark for just a bit when I first go in. I currently do not live with any fur friends in my foster home, but I am happy to report I am not reactive to the dogs I meet in public. I will slip out an open door if given the opportunity, so my new family must be aware of this and willing to work with me to insure my safety. I will do best in a home with a secure fenced yard or being leash walked is just fine with me also. My Pug-shenanigans consist of playing with my stuffed toys, playing chase around the house and preforming lightning fast Pug-Zoomie’s. These funny things will bring a smile and a giggle each day, but I will mention that I love to lay down in a soft bed and grab some shut eye. If you think I sound perfect....don’t wait any longer to submit my adoption application. I am right here waiting for you!

      Breed: Boston Terrier
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boston Terrier. Adoption Fee: 400. Adoption fee: $400 Location: Houston area Eleanor arrived at SMRS because she was thrown out of a car and dragged. She was was injured and much of her tummy skin was rubbed off. The shelter picked her up and asked if we could get her the medical attention she needed. She did have owners, but they did not want her back. We were happy to help and now she is looking for her forever home. Eleanor has demonstrated during her time in foster care that she would be happiest as the sole ruler of all she surveys. She is very reactive to other animals (dogs, cats, birds, etc). She would not be a good candidate for dog parks or neighborhood walks. Personality-wise, Eleanor, in the words of her foster mom, “sweet, sweet, sweet.” She is a great lover of the outdoors and loves to feel the grass under her paws, whether during playtime in a fenced yard or a walk to the park. Fetch is another favorite pastime, as is snuggling at the feet of her people with a nice antler to chew. And if she can make her way onto a warm lap, well, all the better! Eleanor is housebroken and travels well in a car. Of course she’d be happiest to have the undivided attention of a stay-at-home companion, but she could also adjust to a family who was away during the day, so long as she gets a midday walk and potty break. Eleanor would also be a good take-to-the office dog, as she will spend hours snoozing at your feet, but only if there are no other dogs to steal her spotlight—a situation where other dogs came and went on a regular basis would be terribly stressful for her as she is reactive. If you would like to become the faithful companion to Eleanor, please fill out an application and tell us why you’d make the perfect match. A home with other dogs could be considered, but only if the home has extensive experience working with reactive dogs and devotes the time and energy needed for slow introductions. Be sure to tell us about your experience managing reactive dogs in your application, if you already have a dog. Her new family must be willing and able to drive and pick her up. SMRS does not ship dogs and adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. SMRS does not have a facility location. Our dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the bios on each dogs webpage.

      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: English Bulldog. Adoption Fee: 500. Adoption fee: $500 Location: Houston area Sassy, a fawn girl, is described as a comical, sweet and loving lady who will scoot along the floor to get a good belly rub! This boss lady is not afraid to let other dogs know that she is in charge. Sassy gets exerted easily and has to be watched closely for breathing issues. She is rather fond of their food and do not want to share it with any other dogs! Sassy are house trained and sleeps in her crate. Sassy is on a diet to lose weight. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She can be a bit stubborn and have “selective listening” skills. A home with children over the age of 10 and/or with experienced bulldog owners would be preferred, as she is very strong and can be quite hard-headed. In her current foster home she lives with two small dogs and two very dog-savvy cats. She will do fine in a home with other dogs, who are more laid-back and submissive and that will not be offended by her strong bulldog personality. She would also do well in a home with cats that are ok with an occasional sniff. Sassy have would prefer a home with a fenced in yard to roam around and we feel that would be perfect for her! If you are looking for a sweet, affectionate, loving Bulldog, then please submit an application today! Her new family must be willing and able to drive and pick her up.
