Description
Posted Breed: Golden Retriever / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed. Please note potential additional costs for me to get to you near the bottom of my profile. Unfortunately, due to recently introduced regulations by the CDC, dogs from the Middle East can no longer be imported into the US. Therefore, this dog is only available to Canadian residents. Hiya there. My name is ALICIA and here is a little info about me: Breed: Golden Retriever/German Shepard mix Age: 4 (4.5) yrs Gender: female Weight: 31 kgs Height: 65 cm A rescue team in the Middle East received a call about a 3 legged dog running around a vet clinic with other dogs were bullying her. That dog was me. People were feeding us, but I could not get food, because the other dogs were chasing me away. The people reported that I would not be able to survive due to the harassment from the other dogs. So the rescue team went out and picked me up. I have been at the shelter for 3 years now. It is time I find my rightful home. One of my rear legs is missing around the knee. I can stand and sit on my hip, so t ht e vet did not want to amputate further up. An absolute angel girl the shelter calls me. I am very friendly. They say sweet as candy. My temperament is calm, quiet and happy. I am very nice with other dogs and enjoy being around people's kids/families that visit the shelter. I do not shiw any behavioral issues whatsoever, despite whatever happened to me and my time on the streets. It seems I may have had training or a home before, as I am quite well behaved. I would love to live the rest of my life as the queen of the house. Big smile. I still enjoy activity, but would love the hours snuggling too. Energy Level: moderate to moderate-low I get along with: Dogs: yes Cats: unknown Kids: yes Prey drive: unknown/not observed. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: none Leash skills: no. Please be prepared to train me. House trained: Yes or No. Please be prepared to help me learn! Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems! Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a couple weeks or so AFTER arrival. Check out courses in your local area and enroll right away. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Health notes: I am a Tripaw missing my lower left rear leg. I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Due to ongoing limits on Vancouver flights yet, additional fees will apply if flying from another city. Unaccompanied Cargo costs within Canada: $375-$500 per dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. I will be on the first available flight, as I need to leave the Middle East as soon as possible. If a flight directly to Vancouver is not found quickly after I've found a family, the extra cost for cargo to Vancouver from Montreal or Toronto will NOT be optional. If you would like to increase the chance of your dog coming sooner, the rescuer may be able to secure a cargo flight from the Middle East. This cost will likely be between $1200-4000 USD, dependent on size. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, .lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
