Looking for the perfect forever family for a 6 year old retired Champion Maltese. We got Howie last year and he was in horrible shape. We took him to our vet immediately, and he had to be put on antibiotics and have surgery asap to get rid of the severe infection in his mouth and had to have all of his teeth removed because of the severity. We have worked with him being a great pet living back inside the home because apparently he was left in a crate outside for years as a breeder. I still use a belly band inside because after years of not living inside he still has some accidents but he is so much better and with more training may completely stop. He didn’t bend his knees(patellas) at all on the back legs when we got him, we had his patellas examined and they were fine. Vet said it was likely from staying in a crate so long and he does bend them more now than he used too. He is the sweetest dog to every person he meets, all female dogs and most male dogs as long as there is not a female in heat but isn’t happy around hyper puppies. He will not come with papers since the breeder did not sign them over when we got him. He is a super fast eater from apparently not getting enough food as a breeder. He gained a lot of weight after we got him because he ate his and everyone else’s food so we have to feed him separately twice a day and he is back to a good weight. He doesn’t have a problem eating kibble. He eats ProPlan Small Breed Sensitive Skin & Stomach and doesn’t have a problem eating it with no teeth. He weighs between 4.5-5 pounds on average. He was debarked as a young dog. He is up to date on shots, I had him microchipped and he will come with next months heartworm preventative. He will need to be fixed by his new family. I am not asking anything near the vet expenses that I have spent on him. I am looking for the right family and rehoming fee is $400.
