He is looking for a home with patient owners who are ready to help him break out of his shell and build his confidence. He is a quiet, medium energy pup who loves to romp around the yard and join you on your next adventure. Taquito gets along well with other dogs and is learning to take cues from other pups. He would likely do well with or without a canine sibling. He has a good temperament and will likely be fine with a kid in the home who can give him some time and space to get to know them. His favorite things so far include sitting for pets and curling up on the sofa near you. Taquito is a smart boy, as he quickly picked up commands like ‘sit’ and ‘paw’. He is fully crate trained and house-trained. He is crated occasionally during the day and overnight without any issue and uses it as his safe space. Taquito has had zero accidents in the home and will continue to do well when taken out regularly. He is improving his leash skills, as he hasn’t had much experience, and enjoys his daily walks. This silly, sweet boy just wants to be loved- is he the one for you? Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
