Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Yes Good with kids: Yes, dog-savvy kids Crate trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Tomatillo, affectionately known as Tomas, is a fun-loving, easygoing pup who has so much love to give. He is looking for a home with patient owners who are ready to take him on adventures and show him the ropes of puppyhood! He is a medium energy pup who loves to romp around the yard and join you on your next adventure. Tomas gets along well with other dogs and is learning to take cues from other pups. He would likely do well with or without a canine sibling. He has a good temperament and interacted well since coming north with a cat and dog-savvy kids. His favorite things so far include playing with the other dogs in his foster home and playing with his toys. He's great at entertaining himself with a ball or toy. Tomas is a smart boy and eager to please. He is fully crate trained and house-trained. He is crated occasionally during the day and overnight without any issue. Tomas has had zero accidents in the home and will continue to do well when taken out regularly. He walks great and enjoys hikes and daily walks. This silly, sweet boy will surely have you falling in love in no time- is he the one for you? Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
