I’m a shy little guy, but don’t let that fool you—my huge, soulful eyes and expressive ears will steal your heart in seconds. I’m a pro at potty training and can even use a doggie door! My crate is my safe space—I love curling up in there for a good night’s sleep, or just to chill when things get a little too much. I’m all about taking it easy, so while I enjoy a nice walk, what I really love is spending time by your side, soaking in the calm vibes. I’m around three years old, and I weigh about ten pounds. My foster mom thinks I’m a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix, but whatever I am, I’m definitely a low-shedding (maybe even hypoallergenic) little fuzzball. Just be ready for regular grooming to keep me looking my best! I do have a few specific needs in my new forever home. I’m still working on my confidence, so I need a place that understands and supports me. Here’s what I’m looking for: - A dog buddy: I need a furry friend who can show me the ropes and help me feel safe. I shut down without a dog friend. - Dog-savvy cats: I met some once and didn’t mind them, so I’m cool with sharing my space with the right feline. - Kids over eight: I’d do best in a home with older kids who understand my need for patience and space. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
