Description
Posted Breed: Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 375.00 each. BONDED PAIR: These dogs will only be adopted together. PLEASE NOTE: We are seeking adopters with a securely fenced yard (the girls are not good on leash yet so walks are not doable right now), a quiet and calm adult-only household with people home during the day AND with at least one other small or medium sized friendly dog. The adopter need to expect that Honey and Peanut will take months to settle in and feel more safe and secure. Introducing Honey and Peanut, 5 year old poodle mixes who were rescued from a horrible life with a neglectful backyard breeder. Both dogs are very sweet and extremely gentle; there is absolutely no aggression in them. Honey is the larger of the two dogs weighing around 15 pounds and Peanut weighs around 10 pounds. They are timid and shy requiring an adopter who will give Peanut and Honey the time and space to acclimate, most likely taking months. They are learning how to live inside a home and learning that some people are kind and loving. Peanut and Honey have made HUGE strides over two months time and we expect them to continue their social growth with a gentle, kind, and compassionate adopter. Peanut and Honey live in a foster home with several other dogs and they get a long great with everyone. Peanut is more independent, especially when investigating the yard. Inside the home Peanut is cautious when people are around. One funny/cute thing she does is grabs toys and bones and puts them all in her dog bed. Sweet Honey is more confident in the home, coming into the same room as her foster mom and laying on one of the dog beds. Honey, however, seems to be more fearful outside in the yard and gets spooked more easily but she does love to race around the yard and go up to the other dogs while Peanut is smelling and exploring. Both girls are not very comfortable with their foster mom being in the yard with them but Honey will follow her foster mom into the house right away. Peanut, however, will allow her foster mom to approach and will freeze which allows her foster mom to pick her up. Both girls can be held, and handled easily - they are very gentle. Peanut and Honey love each other very much and seek the comfort of each other when inside. Peanut and Honey are housebroken as well as pee-pad trained. They will let their foster mom know they need to go outside for potty breaks by whining or barking; they will also now wait by the door to get their winter sweaters on. These cuties love treats and will race to their foster mom when they hear her opening the bag. These dogs have been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided inoculations, been spayed, tested for diseases, been dewormed, and microchipped. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
