18 MONTH OLD MIXED BREED FOR ADOPTION

Description

Woody is an 18 month old mixed breed. We bought him from a Saint Berdoodle breeder in Idaho at 6 months of age. You can see in the picture, he doesn't have a classic doodle appearance. Though we considered the DNA test to confirm his breed, that isn't something we've done. Woody is a quiet, well behaved dog who is house and crate trained, and walks well on a leash. He knows a few simple commands like sit and shake. He weighs approx 35 lbs, is neutered and is up to date with vaccines. He is great with kids and loves to play with other dogs. Unfortunately, Woody just isn't the right fit for our family. We were looking for an active, playful puppy for our two young boys and Woody is a quiet, docile dog that prefers to sleep on the couch. Our boys were expecting a dog who enjoyed licking their faces, a dog that would wag a tail when they walked in a room, a dog that wants to sit in your lap and be petted. Woody tends to be a lazy pet who sleeps a lot, keeps to himself and doesn't necessarily prefer a lot of attention. We often joke he's more like a cat! It's obvious from a romp in the dog park that he prefers other dogs to people! Woody does well on a leash but we've realized he would do better with a large fenced in yard or farm-like atmosphere where he could run more freely. Despite his poodle mix, he does shed. Woody does have mild separation anxiety tendencies (only with my husband) that involve whining and being unsettled but he does not bark, growl or chew/bite on himself. He does have a sensitive stomach-we've found that he does best on a limited ingredient salmon based dry food. Our ultimate goal is to simply find him a loving home. The bottom line is that Woody is a sweet dog who would do well with a family that spends time at home, a family that isn't looking for a high energy dog that needs a lot of human attention, and in a place with a large yard where he could run, hopefully with another dog. We truly wish he was a better fit for our family.
