Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Ginger! -1 year, 6 month old Malinois mix (Malinois is just a guess!) -Weighs 55lbs -In foster with a couple and their XL breed male dog and thriving! -Loves to play fetch, go for hikes and play with the resident dog -Enjoys a good sunbathing session like the CA girl she is -Knows âsitâ and âdownâ -House trained and crate trained -Not recommended to live in a home with cats Gingerâs foster parent says: âGinger is a happy, spirited girl whoâs ready to find her forever home! With lots of love to give, sheâs full of personality and charm, making her the perfect companion for an active family.â Now through December 17th, BISSELL Pet Foundations is sponsoring reduced adoption fees and we are participating! Adoption fees for all cats and dogs are reduced to $50. Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
