Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Boone came into the Shelter as a stray. Shelter life is a little stressful on this handsome Shepherd but a wonderful volunteer has taken him home on sleepovers so we can learn more about him in a home environment. Here is what she reports: `Boone is a great dog! Both my husband and I loved having him overnight in our home. He was a very well-behaved house guest. He is a super cuddler and quiet sleeper, and he seems to be fully house trained as he did all of his “business” in the yard or on walks. He is playful and sweet and loves toys of all kinds, but especially rubber ones he can chew on. When out on walks, he greeted people enthusiastically but politely and really liked attention and pets from the neighbors. Also, he got right in the car and travelled well.` If you are a GSD lover and looking for a companion - look no further than Boone! Now through December 17th, BISSELL Pet Foundations is sponsoring reduced adoption fees and we are participating! Adoption fees for all cats and dogs are reduced to $50. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
